Keron stood speechless as he watched Isabel drive away, "No, she said her name is Tracy, Tracy Kelly" he told himself impatiently. "Why did she change her name?" he questioned. After all these years he had waited for this moment, when they would see each other face to face. He thought she would have ran to him and they would have picked up from the years gone by and declare her love for him. How differently it turned out to what he had envisioned. How utterly wrong he was to have even phantom this happening.
Now within arms length he let her run off again just like she did fifteen years ago. What kind of man did this, he was so angry at himself. Angry that he did try hard enough to hold on to her for a few more minutes. He felt a tap on his shoulder, turning around he came face to face with the woman who was with her. "Yes, he said to her, "May I help you?"
"Hi, why did you call Tracy, Isabel? She asked. Keron was left speechless. How did one explain your past. "I am sorry it seems to be a mix up. I am truly sorry for scaring off your friend," he said with much pain in his voice. Amelia shook her head as she accepted the apology. "Have a nice day sir," she said and walked away.
Years of heartache made him look at life differently. It made him stronger and more determined not to be distracted by anything or anyone, but yet in her presence he lost all focus in a mere minute. The frustration crept in. Now he lied to a stranger who was just concerned for her friend's well-being.
He was now a successful businessman.
Taking over the family business from his father was no easy task, but after his father's death he had no choice but to put everything in it to make sure he did his dad proud. His father was the most serious man he had ever known and pushed Keron to work tirelessly. With hard work and dedication he built a multi-million empire. Putting in endless hours of work and sweat to forget the girl with long blonde hair and the most contagious smile and a laugh that lit up his world.
The only girl who stole his heart as a teenager and still did. She made his world sparkle with hopes and dreams.
Being with her were the happiest years of his life as he recalled. But here she was living a lie and hiding her true identity from the ones close to her.
Rubbing his chin he continued looking in the direction that her car went. Keron took a deep breath as she vanished from his sight.
No other woman pulled at his heart strings the way she did. Isabel was always there in everything he did, everywhere he went. Her scent lingered behind, the same fragrant he clearly remembered. "What is it she had that no one else could replace," he thought. This is surely a mistake, it is her, his Isabel, his breath of sunshine.
He wondered how it would feel just to hold her in his arms and taste her kiss and to let her know how much he loved her.
The image played over and over in his mind. She could never fool him with those lush eyelashes and hazel eyes and with that voice of an angel. "What was she hiding from, that after all these years that she still couldn't face him?" "Was she married or in some trouble that she just wanted to hide from everyone and everything, including her own family," he silently thought to himself.
He knew that he loved her even more in this moment than he had in the last fifteen years of knowing her. He would get the truth from her. Only one person held the key to all of this Tracy Kelly.
His thoughts was rudely interrupted by a high pitched voice.
"Keron, Keron darling," a melodious voice called out to him. His thoughts came crashing to the ground as reality set in. A hand reached out and touched him on his shoulders, he felt ice cold, turning around he came face to face with a gorgeous red head, his business partner and girlfriend. She was dressed in an expensive turquoise suit with a matching pearl set he noted. She always appeared so flawless and confident something he had grown to admire about her.
This made their match even better. It was what his wanted before he passed away. Here he was fulfilling a wish that didn't make him happy as those last few minutes did a short while ago.
"Oh darling I've missed you dearly," she said as she reached up and kissed him. "Was she always this annoying?" he asked himself irritably. Looking into his eyes she asked gently "Shall we get on with our business at hand?" As he looked down at her, she smiled and Keron knew he would have to answer questions if he decided to put it off for today so he nodded his head not trusting his voice at that moment. Forcing himself to smile back at her. His whole body felt tense.
He kept some matters private, especially those of Isabel.
Emily never knew of his love for Isabel which meant never having to explain his business trip to Scotland. She lacked the passion for simple things in life. Always the more refined and high class lavish lifestyle was her way, Emily was certainly one for fashion and won't be caught taking even a walk in the park.
Keron felt his heart breaking as he walked quietly but keeping pace with Emily.
"What am I doing," he silently kicked himself for this. That magical feeling was gone in few seconds. How he wished he had held onto it for longer. Isabel was like a fairy who touched the lives of everyone she came into contact with. Leaving sprinkles of magic dust everywhere. There was only one her and no mater what she said, he would get to the bottom of it. Her secrets after all she was his best friend and love.
He felt a hand slip into his and he knew Emily saw his distraction and was trying to keep him focused. "Is something wrong my darling? You seem very absorbed and distant today?" she asked very much concerned.
Walking together he knew they made the perfect handsome power couple. The couple everyone dreamed of being. But what about love, isn't that the most important thing in any relationship. He knew his heart didn't belong to Emily and it never will.
The property they were on was a campus set up for art students and he had set his sights on it for months for a development. He was going to do a structure for special children who needed this more than those fortunate. It was his way of keeping the Mc Knight's legacy going. Charity starts at home his father always told him and he intended to do just that.
The area was perfect for business. It helped him to stay focus and not to dwell to much on the past. Emily was talking about the ideas she had designed for them. She was the lead designer for his empire. He was thankful Emily thought of everything without him even asking her. She was very efficient.
Opening the door for her he turned around once more expecting to see Tracy coming up behind, but disappointment set in, as he realized this would have to wait until later when he is by himself .Taking the hand Emily held out to him they walked together arm in arm towards the director's office.
Keron never saw the eyes looking at him filled with curiosity, it was none other than Amelia.
