Commotion as an African stage play is the story of a man who disguises himself in different names and tribal origins and acts as a government official to create confusion, disagreements, and enmities between people of different tribes and regions.

Na so you comot, this wahala woman come talk am say you be, be (Mumbles the word under his voice.) Mr. Chairman: Be what? Mallam Sanni: Be, be (Muffles again) frustration. Mama Chika: (Laughs) Imagine. Me, Mama Chika, call Mr. Chairman that kind thing? Heaven na my witness, everybody for here na my witness. Abeg, una hear me calm Mr. Chairman that kind thing? Mallam Sanni: You call am. Mama Chika: I no call am. Mallam Sanni: Wallahi, you call am. Mama Chika: I no call am. Mallam Sanni: Make we ask your pikin? Mama Chika: Na your Pikin? (Alhaji Buhari and colonel Nnadi enters the scene dressed in Hausa attire and military uniform respectively) Alhaji Buhari: Good afternoon everybody. All: Good afternoon Sir! Alhaji Buhari: I am Alhaji Tanko Buhari by name, and this is my son-in-law colonel Nnadi. We are here to see the chairman of this local government council.
