A Miracle!

Deman.

It is a suitable name for something that Aziel has become. A demon and a human blending together. Demon, Human... DeMan. It is as if there is a divine interference that brought him towards this destiny.

What followed after his not so brilliant acting performance is ugly faces beaded in sweat. Faces of bewilderment and astonished gazes.

"Deman! Is that truly you?"

Cais, the mortal Aziel manipulated in order to kill Deman. One of the closest friends of the Tavern owner and a not so acquainted friend of Deman.

"Yes, truly I am."

Adjusting to mortal's tongue, Aziel continued despite his hesitation.

"I have seen the holy light! It spoke to me and said, it is not my time yet, thus I have returned here."

Obviously, that is a lie. Aziel could not adjust that easily, his manner of speaking is still—of that sounding archaic. If Deman's age numbered around the range of thirty, what he just spoke now seemed fifty or older.

The priest is certain when he heard Aziel speak. He found him strange but at the same time, shouted in response,

"A MIRACLE! THIS IS A MIRACLE!"

The priest is one of the fanatic believers in the faith of the Heavenly God, the only God recognized as the true God by the mortals. And it is rare for something like this to happen.

Mortals at this point in time are aware of the ongoing Heavenly War and those who still believe in the Heavenly God felt guilty because some of their kin are now opposing their God. They understood that miracles or the usual benefits they received from his grace are now limited or almost nonexistent...

That is why the priest is so elated when he witness Deman being revived and the deep wound in his neck healed as if it was never stabbed.

"Goodness gracious! I believe that your name is Deman, right? What you said is the truth right? That light... Is that the Heavenly God? Or perhaps you saw an angel?!"

The lifeless eyes in the priest shifted into a fiery fire, he had been a devote worshiper ever since his childhood, so it is natural for him to act this way. Without caring for his appearance, the old man approaches Aziel in a hurry. His steps are growing larger and his strides are getting wider.

Upon reaching him, he bows as he held Deman's now warm hands.

"It would be an honor, to know more about what you saw..."

The Priest urged as his grip became tighter. His eyes staring at him with high expectations.

'This man is favored by God! To receive such a blessing! I am envious...'

Thoughts of finally learning the mysteries of the divine spun in the mind of the priest. If earlier, he paid no attention to Deman and his peers, now his eyes looked at Deman as if he is a sacred treasure.

'Heh. Mortals...'

As usual, Aziel is disappointed in them. They are too easy to fool. But at the same time, his grin also curved wider. Now, he could just pretend to not see the Grim Reaper hovering around them. It worked in his favor. Taking advantage of the situation, he had to make an excuse.

"Er, hmm... Old Priest. I feel tired, my whole body feels heavy. Can we arrange another meeting for the next time? And please, don't tell a word of this to the townsfolks."

In his lack of common sense, Aziel had forgotten that these mortals were still on the verge of confusion and wonder. He would like to dismiss it, if possible. He made an excuse just so he can spare himself for the needless words of explanation.

Aziel stared at the Priest meaningfully, then shifted his stare to the Tavern Owner and their group. His intentions are clear.

'What you see and what you heard, leave it here!'

When Aziel felt that they understood what his stare meant, he made a sigh as his hands gestured and supported the hands of the old man, whispering to him to get up.

"Now, if you could excuse me... My wife... I have to see her!"

Aziel could not bear it anymore. Didn't he possess Deman just so he could get close to that mortal?

"We understand."

The Priest, politely bowed as he smiled. His smile is radiating a joyful and enthusiastic glow. This incident provided him hope while the others began questioning themselves or pinching their cheeks. Especially Cais who felt guilty about what he has done to Deman.

Cais wanted to properly apologize to Deman, but seeing that Deman is excited to see his wife again... Cais could only place his head down and wait for an opportunity.

Who knows? This might be a chance to befriend Deman.

On the other hand, the Tavern Owner is frowning as he watches the receding back of Deman that is sloppily walking away towards the door leading to the outside of the church. He noticed a lot of changes with Deman. His manner of speaking exuded a Galant or regal aura, his movements that swayed weirdly...

'Can someone really change in that instant?'

Doubt sprouted in his mind. He had exchanged a lot of conversation with Deman and he could say that Deman would never act in this way. Deman is always crass and rough. The priest might brush it off as if that is never a big issue. But that is because it is the first time that the priest met Deman.

In fact, The Tavern Owner is surprised that the Priest easily accepted what happened.

The Tavern Owner decided to contemplate on his own, however, it bore no fruit. He is never that smart to begin with. Investigating something outside the scope of human wits is beyond his capacity. It is like waiting for a sneeze to come, only to feel dismayed because it has been interrupted and will never come again.

The Tavern Owner after a brief pause huddled with his friends and had given up on further thinking, he just called it a night and bode every single one of them goodnight, including the priest.

Perhaps after some good night's rest, they would soon forget this incident.

Yet, this incident...

...Is only the start of more mysterious things to befall Deman.
