"I can't believe it's been a month already since grandfather made the announcement," I say to myself while leaving my business place. "And now, I have to go pick up Francesca's dog, Kip, from her house to the pet store. I promised to buy some dog treats and toys for her." I sigh to myself.
While driving to her house, I turn the radio on and hear about someone of importance in the sports world. "One of the richest and youngest soccer players in the U.S, Rudy Gifford, has once again, alongside his team, won the U.S Open Cup. People from all over the world are rejoicing and congratulating the team on their hard work." I smile at the thought of if I were to continue my path as a volleyball player from both high school and college and how I might be just as popular.
I finally reach Francesca's house and before I can even come out of my car, she's already running out of the house with Kip in hand.
"Come on Kip!! You have to go with aunty now. She's your rich aunty who will be able to buy you a LOT of toys and treats." Her shoulder-length, galaxy-like dyed hair blows behind her as she runs and also almost trips might I add.
She finally reaches my car and I push my shades above my head. "Hey Fran, I see Kip is getting bigger every day," I say petting him. Kip is a husky-mix puppy so he's still pretty small. Fran passes Kip to me through the window.
"Thanks again, Eliza. Both I and Kip appreciate it. She smiles and kisses Kip's head. Okay Eliza, go forth my adventurer, and bring him back too!!" She says excitingly while trying to "roleplay."
"Yes ma'am. I shall do as you ask." I say bowing my head and then slowly putting my shades back on. She giggles before waving while I drive out of her driveway. I start heading to a "normal" pet store, meaning one NOT for rich people. Kip is actually really well-behaved so he hasn't roamed the car or anything.
We reach and now, Kip has finally started going crazy. I laugh.
"I got you Kip." I pick Kip up and step out of the car and head towards the pet store.
Right before I get there, a nice-looking gentleman with dark brown hair and blue eyes gets to the door before me. He reminded me of Leo, my childhood friend I mentioned before. Besides that, he saw me heading to the door and decided to hold it open for me. I smiled.
"Thank you kind sir." I walk toward the door but before I get there, he says something.
"Your dog?" He has like a thick Australian accent which I fond over for like, maybe 2 minutes in my head, I'm kidding, like 5 seconds.
"No, um, it's my friend's. She allowed me to take her dog on like a, dog shopping spree so I could buy him a bunch of stuff." He chuckles before petting Kip.
"Hey buddy. I see you have a nice aunt here." He says first looking at Kip and then me. I smile at him.
"I see you also have a dog," I say before walking in and he follows.
"Um, yeah, his name is Zed, or Z." I laugh.
"Because you guys say zed instead of z right?" He laughs too.
"Yeah." I pet Zed and we continue throughout the store together. I pick up some things and he does the same. After paying for our things we walk outside together.
"Hey Greg," which is his name by the way, "would you like to go to a park, like now, on a date?" I say straightforwardly. He agrees and we head our separate ways to the same park.
We both reach and let the dogs run around with each other while we both sit at a bench.
"So, what's your occupation Elizabeth?"
"Oh, nothing special, I just own one of the most popular fashion companies in the U.S. Not to brag or anything." He smiles but it more looks like a forced smile which I of course notice.
"Uh, interesting. I work at a small restaurant just up the street from here." I smile at him.
"Ah okay. Do you like working there?"
"Yeah, but is there a reason your asking?" I stare a little confused at him.
"No, not at all. I'm not a judgy person so don't worry." His facial expressions don't seem to show a person who is happy about how this is turning out. "Uh, are you okay?"
"Yeah, just that I'm a very specific person when it comes to certain things and right now, you don't seem to fit those things." I look shockingly at him.
"For example like what?" He looks first before saying,
"Stuff like you clearly being of a different standing than me and secondly, the fact that you just seem different than at the pet store..." I chuckle a little before standing up.
"That's fine. Still, I appreciate the company and Zed too. I have to leave now though." I start walking over to Kip and Greg doesn't follow.
"Sigh, why aren't these dates working out. I'm doomed if this is what's going to happen every time." I walk over to Kip who is clearly worn out and pick him up. "Time to go little one." And we leave the park.
Harriet: He said what?
Victoria: Ha. Guess you really aren't fit for the dating world.
Me: Sigh. It might just be true. How am I going to be able to get married if I can't even go through a single date? 😖
Francesca: Don't worry Eliza!! I'm sure you'll find someone, maybe even multiple someone's, huh, huh?
Me: Shhh, don't say that, it might actually happen!! Fran!!
Francesca: hehe 😏
Harriet: Yeah but, you have 3 years Eliza, that should be enough time for you to find someone right?
Me: I don't know!!!
Victoria: It'll be fine. I'm sure of it. If anything, we can come up with an idea of how to find someone for you that also would fit your status as a billionaire, especially since you don't want to marry someone who wants your money only.
Me:... true.🤔
Me: I guess. We can come up with a plan once it hits a year from now and I haven't found anyone yet. Deal?
Harriet: Deal.
Victoria: Fine with me.
Francesca: Certainly!
Me: Okay then. I better go. Grandfather is calling me.
Victoria: Sure.
Harriet: Yeah bye!!
Francesca: Byee!!!
Me: Bye!
*Beep* "Grandfather?" I say answering the phone.
"Granddaughter. How nice to hear your voice. How is the search going?"
"Okay. I haven't found anyone if that's what you're calling for." I sigh.
"Young one, it'll be fine. But also, I was calling about that and would like to have some words with you on the same subject today at my house. Could you come over for dinner?" He asks expectingly with his deep voice.
"Okay, grandfather." We end the call and I get ready for dinner.
"Yet again, another night spent at my grandfather's place. Not that I hate it." I say to myself. And I depart for his mansion situated only a couple miles from mine.
