"Hi, are you calling due to your interest in the Marriage Candidacy?"
"Hello, you must be calling because of Elizabeth Carnell's Marriage Candidacy, correct?"
"I'm sorry but this phone line is not for your fanfiction. I'm sorry but it's not. Goodbye!"
"Excuse me what? You're extremely rich and can just buy her? That is extremely rude of you. GOODBYE!" I hang up the phone. Everyone is sitting out of breath. Even Victoria's boyfriend who is keeping track of the website.
"Man, who thought that answering calls would be this tiring?" Fran says. I laugh. Better get back to work.
For the past 2 hours, we've been answering calls and keeping track of who moves on or not, that's what Victoria's boyfriend is doing, the website can keep track of people and so when we say the person is good to go, he writes them down and their information that we copied down in the "book of names" we created. Each of us has one sheet of paper writing down people's information which is combined into one large binder.
"Uhhhhhh.... I don't want tooooo. I don't think I've gotten a single candidate yet!!!" Fran whines and we laugh.
"I think I've been doing pretty well. They were nice and were of good enough age and their jobs were good too." Harriet says. Speaking of, she has been fixing up my house every couple of days making sure it is good to go.
"The phone call round is going to end in a week right? The phone call round is 1 and a half weeks. The personality test is for 1 week. And the choosing round is 1 and half weeks?" Victoria asks.
I nod. "Yep!" Oh, I've got a call.
"Hello. You are interested in the marriage candidacy, right?" I ask.
"Yes. I'm _________." I sort of choke a little.
"That's, your name? Sorry if that was rude of me." The person sounds a bit upset.
'Yes. You must be Elizabeth then?" I gasp.
"What does that mean?" They laugh and I just hang up upsettingly.
"Ughhhhh!!!" The girls laugh and I just sigh.
*A week later*
"Finally!! We are finished with the calls!!!" Fran says excitingly. Victoria's boyfriend was the most excited that he didn't have to do that anymore.
"Yep! Now, on to the test. I made some questions that the candidates so far will have a week to take. Wanna look over the questions with me?" I say and so we all huddle together to look over them.
1. Which one is better? Cat or Dog
2. If you had a choice would you pick: Love or Money
3. Do you think people who are rich should have more say than those who aren't? Yes or No
4. Seeing as you are interested in this marriage candidacy, tell me how your relationships have gone in the past? _________
5. If going on a date, what is the first thing you think of: Money going to be spent on the date, the place must be expensive, how much fun it's going to be, or just being with your significant other
6. Please put your information of name, age, the best place to reach you, occupation, etc.
"Okay, so this seems fine right?" I ask.
"It seems short, is that okay?" Victoria asks.
"It's okay. I'm really specific and I hate people who take their money and flaunt it. And I really hope that they care more about things like making sure their significant other is okay with whatever it is before doing anything like an expensive restaurant. Just this test will help because I personally want them to be a certain way because I just can't stand people with that kind of attitude, even though I myself am rich too." They all nod.
"Okay... and lastly, how should this work. We might not lose that many candidates to this so we might have to be specific as an exact answer. Like exactly the answers love, no, etc?" Harriet says.
"Hmm... yeah. The cat or dog question doesn't matter and nor does the last one with their information because we already know for the most part. So, yeah it works!!"
"Perfect!! Well, guess it's time to start it then." Victoria says. She stands up and tells her boyfriend to send the blast email to all the people with the link to the test. I get super excited at the thought that we're one step closer to the end of this "process."
"Hahhhhh. I can't believe that's over. Now after this, we'll have to look through the personality tests to see who passes and let them know after. So we'll do that after the week right?" Fran says.
"Yep! Now, all we need to do is... wait." I lie back on Victoria's bed and Fran and Harriet lie on each other and we all seem to just doze off.
*After yet another week*
"Okay, guess it's time to look at what we got." I say to everyone and they seem to just groan in reply. I laugh.
We start shuffling through the tests sent in through the week and start discarding the people who answered with any of the answers I didn't like and even if they answered with only one of those answers, I have to make the candidate list shorter, right now we're at about 350 out of the 500 original callers. And I was hoping to cut it down to 100 or even 50 but that might be wishful thinking.
"Phew. Okay we're at 100 people girls!! We made it!!!" I say excitingly and they just smiled exhaustingly.
"I still think we should add one more round before the official pick because surfing through 100 people to pick 6 will be extremely difficult. What if we did something like extremely daring of them. Something that no one would do unless they are willing?" Harriet says.
"I think... that's a good idea and hopefully almost everyone will give up after that. Let's do something like out of nowhere saying if they would give up everything for me and say that I'm just curious, so that they believe that this is just a random question?" They smile mischievously, even Victoria.
"That's perfect! Let's do just that and let's put it as a single question on the website and see if they see it. The test will be that those who don't even see the question are done and those who answer no, are done also!" Victoria says.
"I feel bad for lying that I'll take their stuff because I don't want it but I don't want fakers soooo, i guess it's for the best." They all agree with me and we get Victoria's boyfriend to post it and so, for the half of the 1 and half weeks we had left to choose the 6 candidates, we were watching the count of people who answered the test and those that didn't. By the end of is, we were left with only 20 people. If you can believe it, almost 80 people either didn't answer the test or answered that they wouldn't sacrifice themselves nor their things, for me, nor to me.
"Wow! That cut down really well! So then we have a week to work with in order to find the 6 we want?" Fran says enthusiastically.
"Yep!" We all sigh together finally excited for the ending of all of this. Maybe my butler was right that I have a business to run and I think I've been spending most of my time at Victoria's house this whole month.
"Phew. You guys ready to get to making a choice then?" I say and everyone this time is more pumped to finally finish all of this.
