Chapter 15

She pulled out a velvety midnight blue Versace gown with long sleeves and a split along the edge.

Sam gasped

There was a note under the tissue papers used to protect the gown, a smile spread across her face at the letter.

"Get your ass down here by tomorrow morning; 10 am sharp. I don't want any casualties"

Her voice trailed as she read and she fell on her back giggling.

The letter sounded unapologetic and Keira was starting to have concerns about how they cursed in from of the 10-month-old.

How did he get her address? She glared at Sam in suspicion Sam shrugged again.

"What? It's cute"

"Not...that. Did you by any chance exchange information with him?"

"Maybe, no, he's rich. Besides, tracking people down is not that hard."

Keira growled folding the dress back in, slamming the tissues on it furiously. Sam's eyes widened at her reckless attempt to replace the package.

The wrappers stirred when she wrapped it around the box, it came off easily, the adhesive layer had lost its integrity.

The audacity!

Sam snatched the box and lifted the dress, starry-eyed.

"Look, it's stunning and very light, you won't find this in any old mall" She ranted.

Keira fumed.

Sam referred to the letter again, missing the part at the back.

"Oh wow, there's more."

'PS, Sam, and her kid are always welcome. XX'

She squealed.

"He's inviting us to dinner, today's the thirtieth of November."

"So what?!" Keira retorted.

"Keira, this is a wonderful opportunity, we're going to be rubbing elbows with the Daniels AKA our soon to be an extended family"

"No"

Sam groaned. "Shit happens, let's have some fun!"

Keira glared at her and Sam gave Darby a knowing look, he was watching.

She wasn't keying into Sam's 'party spirit' She sat back pouting. "We're not going"

Sam wasn't listening, she caught a glimpse of the green sheen from her finger and rushed over to take her hand, surprisingly, Keira forgot the ring and probably ruined it in soapy water while doing the handwashing.

"You are one lucky gal, the diamante is saying something"

"What, how fake this whole lavish fantasy is?"

"No, how down to earth you are and how precious your eyes appear."

Keira scoffed at her ridiculous theories. She hissed and Sam sat on the arm of the chair hugging Keira from her side, with her cheek on the crown of her head trying to lighten up her mood.

"All better"

"No," She said grumpily.

"Good, the food's not going to eat itself" She hopped out of the chair to eat a piece of bacon facing the kitchen with tiled walls and a counter that housed two sinks, one being the garbage disposal. A gas cooker with four faces huddled between the counter and a trash can. With a few wall stickers.

She ate closing her eyes at the rapturous feeling from tasting the bacon.

"Divine but a little heavy on the salt."

Keira sighed.

...

Logan watched as the staffers set up the table, he checked his watch, it was moving dangerously to 10 o'clock
