He grinned at her false bravado, her green eyes flickered and the golden shades of it were more intense, he saw determination, which he could use to his advantage.

Keira hesitated, where was she going to find a million dollars? With Sam's college fund and their welfare, those were out of the question. Their trust fund obtained from their deceased parents had been kept for emergencies only, it wasn't even close to half a million.

His grey eyes mocked her with a sardonic smile that left her stomach in knots. This was the most inconvenient time to think about how overpowering his steely eyes were or the fact that he was a very gorgeous and fascinating specimen.

  "Ben, you're looking well," She said trying to strike up a conversation, they didn't speak to each other often.


"Jenny's trying to fatten me up, I have to be in shape for those nasty flights and she's sabotaging me."


"I dropped the offer so you'll be seeing more of me in Cheyenne this holiday. I'll be discharged tomorrow"


She brightened up "That's amazing" She knew it wouldn't take an accident to break his ego but the sudden change was surprising, she said and grimaced when Zoe closed in on the screen.


"Ma, too close" He complained while she readjusted sitting on the bed tucked between the two of them, he was wearing a drab blue gingerbread man sweater with a hood.


"Hi, you must be the one Jenny talks about often"


Keira spoke to her with a sound mind, the Mullins was free-spirited and they loved making new friends.


"What?" Zoe's eyes rounded and Jenny waves goodbye as they bickered and went offline.


 She bit her lip at a text from Sam and a photo of her with a crazed look on her face with Amy at the resort, them pouncing on Megan and Melissa in the snow, and a photo of her in a pile of snow after a skiing accident and a cut on her wrist.


 She laughed at the last part where Logan held Sam on a piggyback with her two fingers up and the next had a golden brown blur on them, Harry attacked Logan slobbering his face and Sam's legs were visible on the snow bed after they crashed.


  Sam feigned an angry face with the winter wonderland background with a caption "You abandoner" and a recent photo of her on a couch with dreamy eyes and Darby sleeping on her shoulder with the caption "Sweet dreams"


"Do not scare me like that ever again, are we clear?"


"Aye aye, sir. I'm currently in a viral minefield and my nose is running from the fumes"


"Have em court-martialed and we'll see what we can do"


"I was court-martialed once for mutiny" She heard Grandpa Seamus Snr on the phone and bit her lip when he ranted on about the army.


"Pop-pop, you never went to the army, you were a coach in a basketball team."


"I don't play like I used to and don't call me that, I'm 83"


She giggled and heard Darby crying, Seamus growled.


"He's not, we were grappling on who gets to hold Darby all day and aunt Maddie is raiding our kitchen again, smells like home"


  Now she desperately wanted to go home, Sam and Finn were debating on the best Dr. Pol Christmas special and Bones special.


"You sound awful, why aren't you home?"


"I'm in the hospital, grandpa" She reminded.


"Tell that jester, I'm onto him, I heard he's flowing with money and I just might ask for new dentures"


"Seamus!" She heard Maddie's voice on the mouthpiece and cackled.


"What, you're only saying that because you have a soft spot for hot guys and I wonder why you even married Finn, it's been nagging here and there lately"


Keira seemed to be missing a lot with the house full. The arguing continued and the noise died down when Finn took the phone
