Chapter 33: THE SEARCH FOR EVIDENCE - PART 2

Jessie called out to Zach, who was out of sight. "Hey, Zach. Come see this kitchen." She heard him barrel down the stairs and waited for him by the door, still holding her nose when he finally entered.

"One of the investigators just found blood on the bedroom carpet," he blurted out before she'd had a chance to point out the mess in the kitchen.

"How much blood?"

"A drop or two, and no signs of an attempted clean up."

"Listen, if Sawyer is responsible for his wife's disappearance, would he have been foolish enough to leave so many pieces of evidence around hoping we'd find them?" She pointed to what she'd found. "This is even worse than what the Milligan's described. Shriveled pieces of fruit with cereal strewn over the counter that spilled down onto the lower cabinets now covered with caked-on milk." She covered her nose and mouth with her hand. "Would he?" she asked.
