Chapter 154: THE ICE BEGINS TO THAW - PART 1

Regardless of whether or not the team had found anything after the break-in, just entering her home gave Jessie a queasy feeling in the pit of her stomach. She glanced behind her making sure Zach was there.

Sensing Jessie's fear, he wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him so he was right next to her. That small kindness helped her racing heart to settle down. She squeezed his hand thankful she didn't have to pretend with him.

"I know I hung my coat in this closet," she pointed. "I don't need to ask anyone. I can see it hanging there." Jessie opened the closet door and pushed through the crowded closet to no avail. Anger and fear filled her until Zach reached for her hand and pulled her out of the closet.

"We'd better get out of here. The traffic this time of night on the Hutch is horrendous." He bent down and grabbed her overnight bag and guided her out the door, which was the best thing he could have done because she bounced back into police mode.
