Jessie pushed back in her seat when her phone pinged alerting her she had a message. Having served Morton's phone carrier with a warrant, any messages he sent out would appear on her phone.
"Hey, Morton just texted his mother telling her he's on his way and should be there within the week."
"Excellent! We need to go talk to the captain and have him approve our trip to Connecticut," Gerard said.
Ignoring what he was saying, Jess cleared her throat. "You know, it's been a few days and Jennifer still hasn't been found."
"Jess," he looked at her sympathetically, "I think you need to accept that she's probably dead by now. Based on what we know about her, she wouldn't have left before getting her inheritance. And I know I don't have to tell you Missing Persons is doing the best they can."
"I know. I'm still going to call Charlene to see how she's doing," she said in rapid-fire succession. "Bud took over her case...maybe I should call him to see what's going on."
