Jessie no sooner walked through the front entrance of headquarters than Sergeant Williams called out to her.
"The lieutenant wants to see you right away."
"His office?"
Williams nodded toward his door. "It sounded pretty urgent."
"Okay, I'm on my way."
Rushing toward his office, she removed her coat and carried it over her arm, able to see him through the opened door. She could see he was engrossed in what he was reading. Giving the doorframe a hard knock, he looked up.
"Shut the door behind you," he said.
A knot formed in her throat. Had she done something wrong in her new role, or did Wallace have news meant only for her? From the gruffness in his voice, she knew whatever it was, it wasn't good.
Sitting back in his chair, he squared his shoulders. "Bradshaw's DNA is present at the McCormick crime scene."
Jessie gasped. "Do you mean her fingerprints, as in she was careless and touched the items before she put her gloves on?"
