Chapter 5 - Quirk is not Everything

"Katsuki, this is your cousin I told you about."

Bakugo Mitsuki introduced Akira to her son. Bakugo looked angrier than usual as he replied.

"So you're the quirkless loser old hag is talking about..." He said in a mocking tone.

Akira put on a fake smile as she replied, "And I'm sure you're the all mighty Katsuki who has a superiority complex.. Nice to meet you."

"What the fuck did you say?!!! "

"I said you have superiority complex. You said I'm useless because I'm quirkless right? But, I don't think quirks are everything. Quirkless people can be smarter than you and maybe even be better person than you. So, instead of putting others down, why don't you just...."

Bakugo Katsuki didn't let her finish her sentence. He made explosions in his palm and charged towards her. Akira dodged the left swing and kicked him.

Bakugo was quick, too. But, Akira was faster. Maybe it was becauase Bakugo didn't expect her to be able to dodge or maybe it was because of her enhanced stats. Or it could be both. Bakugo was known for his quick reflexes and talent in fighting, after all.

The result was Bakugo getting kicked in the face. The force wasn't enough to injure Bakugo Katsuki though. His face was barely bruised. But, Bakugo Katsuki felt ulimately humiliated.

"How can a quirkless defeat me?!! You're lying, aren't you?!!" He yelled.

"No, Katsuki. It's called self-defense skill and practice. " Akira continued after a while. "Quirkless people... they can be good at things they practice hard. Because in my opinion, Quirk is not everything."

Akira then turned around and left. Bakugo Katsuki was still angry but he wasn't chasing after her anymore. Maybe he was thinking over some things.

Bakugo Mitsuki just looked at the scene unfold before her eyes and raised her eyebrows. To see her son with a strong quirk get defeated by a quirkless girl in a few seconds is eye-opening. She couldn't help but feel impressed by her skills. Although she didn't quite agree with her words, she didn't think Akira saying those words are wrong , at all. Maybe she just needed to take time and think.

---------------

Just when Akira had turned around to leave, system voice rang in her head.

*You have defeated Bakugo Katsuki without using a quirk which made him reconsider his views. Bonus rewards : A basic skill and a 1.5x stats boost card (Duration : 3 minutes ). Please choose a basic skill from these categories; Cooking, Writing, Singing, Photography.*

"So I got one more basic skill and a card that can boost my stats for 3 minutes? That's quite OP.." Akira said. "Alright. I'll just go with writing because I've always admired authors. I even tried to get literature major back then. It was a pity it didn't work out in the end.." She sighed when she remembered bits of her previous life. She can't do anything about the past but she can still choose a writing skill now. Who knows? Maybe she can become an author in this world.

"It's not an ideal job in this world but I still would love to write." And, just like that, she made her choice.

'System, I'll choose Writing skill.'

*Akira chan has obtained Writing skill.

Looking at her stats, Akira felt like she got even stronger. She wondered if it was a waste if she don't use her skills for actual fighting. After a while, she shook her head. System would probably issue missions that require fighting in the future.

*That is right. Quirk unlocking mission will be ready to be issued soon, Akira Chan. Please look forward to it.*

Quirk...

She remembered her talk with Katsuki and shook her head gently.

She didn't really pay much attention to it since the System said she would unlock it after completing quests. But, at the police station, the officers check her quirk registry and it was quirkless. Would she really get a quirk later? Then, how would she explain the sudden quirk manifestation ?

'System, I'm registered as Quirkless now?'

*That is right. Since Akira chan hasn't unlock it yet, it was registered as Quirkless.*

'But wouldn't it be hard to explain how I suddenly got a quirk?'

*The level of Quirk and the kind of Quirk Akira chan will be getting after mission can be different. That is why, Quirk is not pre-registered.*

'So, I can get a strong quirk or a weak quirk depending on my performance?'

*That is right.*

'Okay. I look forward to it then.'

Akira smiled. Although she didn't think quirks are everything, she still wanted a quirk. Because who doesn't want superpowers?!! Moreover, she came from a world with no quirks so she was very very curious.

Akira then walked into the room where her aunt prepared for her. Since she would be staying at her house for senior high school, the room was naturally hers from now on. It was rather simple with sky blue walls and wood flooring. There were also a bed, a dressing table and a wardrobe. Of course, she had her own bathroom in her room, too.

"Thinking about it, Bakugo family is really rich, huh?"

Akira couldn't help but say it out loud. Then, she lay down on her bed, finally getting a chance to relax after a long day.

----------------

The next day, Akira sneaked out of Bakugo house and ended up at a near-by bookstore. She figured she could read some books to kill time and learn more about this world. As My hero academia focused on UA, heroes and villains but not culture and other things, she was curious. Was it the same as her world? Did they have good books and shows? Are thoses books based on their world or fantasy? Are there any books without the idea of quirks? Those were the things she always wanted to know when she fantasized about MHA world being real. Now that she herself was in that world, there was no way she wasn't going to figure it out.

She grabbed a book and started reading it. It was a mystery genre but instead of using quirks to figure everything out, there were some normal detective scenes and investigations. Of course, they used quirks and in some cases and it was just convenient but it was still good. So, she decided to buy it after reading a few more pages. Then, she tried another book from the same genre. Unfortunately, it was not her cup of tea. Quirks were used widely in the story that it was overwhelming trying to remember the quirks. The storyline is good but the amount of times using quirks to solve problems and mysteries are insane. Akira shook her head as she put the book back onto the shelf.

Then, she tried another book from Historical genres. The book was based on pre-quirk era and it was surprisingly similar to the world in 1900s. The story was simple yet she felt like she could feel every emotions the characters were feeling. She felt like she was there in person and watching the story unfold. It was like a masterpiece.

Akira decided to buy that book too and when she was just about to go to the cashier, something or rather someone in this case, has caught her attention.

Red and white hair split in the middle and she knew who it was.

"Todoroki Shouto...."
