Chapter 5 : REUNION

Zoar quickly jumped up and caught Klara as she fell. Everyone in the restaurant was looking at them now. Zoar heard whispers from some of the customers.

"She really did have a missing son, huh?"

"We all though she was just crazy!"

"Who's that fat guy?"

"Her son looks pretty hot..."

"Mom! Do you see that big sword?"

Zoar lifted her up in his arms and turned to another employee.

"Where does she live?" asked Zoar.

"Oh! Uh, just follow me! I'll take you there!" she said then started towards the exit.

"Man, can't believe we found her here of all places!" said Maurice, then he finished his burger in one gulp.

"Maurice, now is not the time to be joking around. Just look how serious Zoar looks righ now..." said Ami.

They looked at Zoar whom started to follow the woman out. His head was filled with mixed emotions. Something he hasn't dealt with in a long time.

"C'mon guys." Zoar said as he headed out the door.

Ami and Maurice went after him.

Night had fallen now and the city glows with lights everywhere.

Vehicles where driving down the streets and people were talking, yelling and even some where crying.

"She doesn't live too far from here." said the woman.

"Can't we use your laptop to find her house, Ami?" asked Maurice.

"I'm trying now but the signal here is terrible..." Ami complained.

"Well, I'm sorry for us making you do this ma'am." Maurice said.

"No worries guy's, aslong as I get some time off work, I'm good with almost anything." She said.

"And by the way, my name is Pheelon Brice."

Pheelon had brownish pink hair and Purple eyes. She seemed to be about 150 centimeters tall and looked about 25 or 26 years old.

Pheelon also appeared to be a few months pregnant.

"Ma'am, I hope this isn't a rude question, but are you carrying a child?" asked Maurice as he pulled out a toothpick.

She laughed.

"Yeah. I'm about 7 months in now." Pheelon said.

"Do you know if it's a boy or girl?" asked Ami.

"Girl. Her name is Phoebe Brice." Pheelon said as she touched her stomach.

Zoar looked down at his unconscious mother that he held in his arms. She had a few scars on her arms and legs. They seemed to be really old. Her hair seemed to only recently start turning gray.

"I kind of feel bad for Phoebe though. Her father is in the Black Waves militarily force. He's only ever home for 6 months of the year. June 1st to January 1st. The best months of the year for me. I'm always worried about him dying or getting captured. I can't imagine what I'd do if that ever happened..." Pheelon looked at the sky as she spoke.

Zoar started to wonder if he should ask about his father. He didn't even know if Pheelon knew about him or anything abou his family.

"Zoar." Pheelon said.

Zoar looked up and saw her stopped and turned towards him. He stopped.

"I know your probably gonna ask Klara about your father. I've known your mom for 6 years now. She only just told me about her past 2 years ago. It sickened me. So I must warn you that you need to be prepared for the truth. It isn't pretty." Pheelon looked frustrated and sad at the same time.

A bead of sweat went down Zoar's face.

"Well, we're here now." Pheelon said.

Zoar looked up to see an old apartment building. It had 6 rooms. 3 on the bottom floor and 3 on the floor above.

"She's in room 18. She keeps a key under her doormat." Pheelon said to Zoar.

"Good luck, Zoar." She said.

"I'm gonna head back to the restaurant now, see ya." Pheelon said to them and began walking back.

"Well uh..." Ami scratched her head.

"Let's go in." Maurice said.

"Right." said Zoar.

They walked up the 2nd floor. Room 18 was the first door.

Ami lifted up the door mat and grabbed the key. She unlocked the door and let Zoar in first.

Zoar walked in and it looked decently clean. The floors carpet was dirty and the furniture in the living room was stained. The walls were white with paint peeling off. The apartment was only a little bigger than Ami's apartment.

Zoar found the bedroom and laid his mother down onto the bed.

The bedroom had weirdly painted, yellow walls. The floor was hardwood that was actually nice looking. The bed was two mattresses onto of one another with no sheets. The bed had only a thin pillow and a ripped blanket. It was quite obvious she was poor and was only barely scraping by.

"Me and Maurice will clean this place up. You just sit in here with her Zoar." said Ami as Maurice stood behind her.

Zoar nodded and they left.

Zoar looked back to his mother, still unconscious.

Zoar was confused. He felt relief. He couldn't make sense of it.

•••

Thirty minutes had passed and Zoar could hear Ami and Maurice finishing up their cleaning.

"Hmmm..."

Zoar quickly turned to Klara.

She began to lift her self up from the bed.

Her eyes opened and she looked confused. Suddenly her eyes went wide and she turned to Zoar.

"Zoar... Is that really y-you?" she said touching his face.

"Yes..." he said with hesitation. It was kind of awkward to him.

Klara began to cry. Ami and Maurice walked into the bedroom.

Klara wiped her tears away and looked at Ami and Maurice.

"Who are you t-two?" she asked.

"My name is Ami."

"Nice to meet you Ms. Anor, my name is Maurice."

"These are my friends." said Zoar.

"You two seem like lovely people. Thank you for helping my long lost Zoar..." Klara said.

Ami and Maurice smiled.

"So, Zoar. What happened after all these years?" asked Klara as she turned to him.

"I woke up on the side of some road. there was a forest surrounding it. I practically lived there until one day when I was 16, some lumbering company named Lirethberg Industries showed up and the boss offered me a job. I quit about a week ago and decided to find you guys. I ran into Ami and Maurice today and they tagged along. I also got this sword in the forest and learned some stuff. That's about it."

"Lirethberg Industries... Anyways, I'm glad you found me Zoar." She smiled.

"I've heard some things about... Neal. And you probably already guessed I would ask about him." Zoar said.

Klara's aura suddenly went dark. Zoar could hear Maurice gulp. Ami backed up a little.

"I guess I did expect this. Pheelon warned you, didn't she?" asked Klara.

Zoar nodded.

"Well, I guess I should tell you exactly what happened that day."
