This System is Stealing My Sanity

[Congratulation you have reached level 10]

[Reward 1 Demon Sight]

[Black Opal has gained: Skill3: Size Manipulation level N/A]

[Claim Extra System Rewards? Y/N]

That had taken way too many rats. Like seriously. Arlo looked at Blacky next to him, who was watching him with his eyes, today they were orange.

Rewards huh? Since when does the system do rewards? Should I even trust the system to give me rewards? Arlo's system seemed to get more and more sassy every day. He paused chewing his lip a little.

"Okay system, claim rewards." Arlo said.

[You have unlocked your unique skill Absorb Friendship.]

[Black Opal has gained the unique skill Animal Speak]

"Ohh finally unique skills, now what do they do...Uh system?"

[Error]

"What?!"

[I'm tired of you calling me system]

"Uh what should I call you then?"

[My name is Solarisa's Y System That Encourages More the third]

"Should I call you Y then?"

[No]

"You do realize your name's acronym is literally SYSTEM the third right?"

[An interesting point]

"You want me to call you Solarisa? Like the god?"

[No call me system]

"What the HECK!.....system"

[Affirmative]

"I think you've got a couple glitches pal" Arlo muttered under his breath. "What does Absorb Friendship do?"

[Unknown, this is my first time working with demon skills. I am usually reserved for human heroes]

"Okay never mind I'll figure it out myself."

A third voice broke the conversation Arlo was having with his head. "Uh Arlo, help."

Arlo turned and his jaw dropped open. Blacky had grown to nearly the size of the entire room and was crouching to avoid hitting his head. Arlo wasn't sure if he should be more confused with his size or that he had just spoken. Oh right the two new skills...… this is interesting.

"Okay Blacky activate your new skill size manipulation and ….uh…. think small." Arlo watched as his wolf was suddenly the size of a tea cup. He stifled an amused snort.

It only took Blacky about 10 minutes to completely have the skill under control. It was so cool! Giant wolf, ninja wolf, heck Blacky could have easily been a secret agent.

"Who's the best wolfy every, who's the best wolfy ever!" Arlo stroked Blacky's fur as the wolf let out an odd half purring sound. Since when did wolves purr?

A thought struck Arlo and he grinned. Who needed a demon steed if they had a giant wolf to ride around? He mentally checked mode of transport off his escape plan. Human world here I come! A large grin spread across his face.

He paused chomping his lip slightly, now about the final part. Get a claim right before he left so he had enough time to cross the wall. And how to cross the wall, that was also still a thing. Arlo doubted the two worlds did much tourism business.

Arlo wasn't sure if he should love or hate the fact that he had gotten use to claims. That night he was in Sho's bedroom once more. The demon hadn't noticed the missing key yet. Arlo doubted that he ever would.

"Tonight I shall give you a friendship claim" Sho stated watching Arlo with an amused expression. Arlo of course flinched. He clenched his teeth a little, no orders, he needed that. Even if the demon hadn't given him any orders he didn't want that to somehow jeopardize him later.

"Okay." He whispered quietly.

Sho looked a little surprised considering Arlo had blatantly refused the last few times. "You sure, no rush or anything?"

Arlo nodded and turned slightly away not wanting to watch his own naked body. Sho seemed way too happy about it.

Arlo felt Sho's hands gently pull his legs apart. He started quivering all over immediately. Sho let out an amused murmur. "You know there really is no rush, if you aren't ready I won't force you to be mine." He licked Arlo's chest once.

"No …. I … I'm ready." Arlo stammered.

Sho gently ran his hand through his hair, "Very well, just tell me to stop if you change your mind then." With that he put his head between Arlo's legs and began licking.

Arlo immediately felt hot all over. His whole body wouldn't stop trembling for the life of him. Long strokes, short strokes, sticking his mouth over things that Arlo would have never allowed in his past life.

It felt good. Arlo wasn't sure if he should love or hate that. Part of him wanted to stay with Sho forever. His more logical part constantly laid out everything wrong with the scenario. He was not truly a demon, Sho was, that's all there was to it.

The gentle massage continued and Arlo could feel tension building up in his lower parts making him grab the sheets with his fists. The message appeared.

[You have been claimed by Sho Whitewolf status: Friend]

[Absorb friendship activated: Skill gained Duplicate]

"The claim is done, did you want me to finish?" asked Sho quietly.

"Ye…esss" stammered Arlo even though the rational side of his screamed no. Sho's mouth was on him again and he hated himself for not wanting the night to end.

He lay in the bed sweating all over. Sho looked way too pleased with himself. Arlo looked at his chest where his claim symbol had changed. It now looked more like a flower than a sun.

Sho wrapped himself around Arlo and fell asleep. Arlo didn't have it in him to leave just yet. One more night couldn't hurt and Sho ….. Sho .... He didn't finish as he also fell asleep in his warm embrace.

The next morning was hard. Harder than Arlo ever thought was even possible. He's a male I do not have a crush on a male. He repeated the words over and over in his head. I am a normal human stuck in a demon body and I need to fix that. He glanced at the front door again.

Sho had left earlier to pick up something and said he wouldn't be back until nightfall. Arlo had left a letter saying that he was very sorry but did not belong in the demon world and that he would of course still pay back his debt and interest to Sho even if it took him awhile.

"Are we….."Blacky's voice trailed off his currently blue eyes watching Arlo.

"We are." Arlo stated firmly, the he inserted and turned the key. The door creaked open and Arlo slipped out with Blacky close behind him. Arlo left the key by the letter and locked the door before closing it behind him.

Freedom. Arlo never thought that word sounded more scary. Arlo tossed one leg over Blacky's back and Blacky grew to the size of a horse. He gripped the braided collar he had made earlier.

"Let's go." He whispered refusing to look behind him as pieces of regret already filled his soul.

Blacky bounded over the land with ease. The forest they were taking had several level 15 monsters but between him and Blacky they had it covered.

An ugly giant rat level 9 appeared and Blacky lashed out with a paw trapping it to the ground while Arlo slashed its neck.

[Level up]

So far no issues. Arlo had copied a rough map that Sho had. All he had to do was head east, get from the northern zone into the eastern, then cross the human wall from there. Hopefully he would have enough time.

First stop for the first night, small town of Quell right near the north to east boundary. Thankfully Yamon where Sho's home was, was already close to the boundary.

Arlo slipped off Blacky by the gate and the wolf shrunk back to normal. Then the two travelers approached an inn for the night.

"Room for one night please." Arlo said tossing a sliver coin on the counter. He glanced at the demon behind the counter and his demon sight activated.

[Umano Chillfrost level 15]

He looked back at the small coin, he felt terrible at taking even more of Sho's money. However until he had a job in the human world it would be a problem. He was planning to work as a human hunter of monsters, since they had a guild system unlike the demon world. He was definitely going to pay the demon back.

He got into bed with Blacky that night and couldn't shake the feeling of loneliness that Sho wasn't beside him as well. Arlo jammed his eyes shut. Stop thinking about him.

He was going to have a great life as a human. It would be perfect! It would be... perfect. What even makes perfect. Solid housing arrangements, good company, and access to anything he wanted… perfect. Soft silver hair. Body silky to the touch. Ugh stop, just because he met one nice demon didn't mean a thing, he would definitely meet lots of nice humans and marry one.

It would be perfect...
