We Steal a Title

Ryan burst out laughing. "Okay I'll feed you, and I'll still owe you one if you come up with something you want."

It was the first time Arlo had ever seen him laugh this hard and freely.

"But first about those titles." He added.

He murmured something while letting magic energy collect around his hands, mage class perks or something.

Ding! [You have received the title: Honorable Demon from king Ryan O'Pal]

Arlo pulled up the stats for it: allows a demon to hide their eye color and name identifier to all humans and demons except the human king and above and demons above boss (SSS). No wonder Sho wanted it. He wanted to use it to hide Arlo.

The level 90 rank perk. Wait wasn't it confusing that human king was both a rank and a title to ruler of an area, how misleading. System you should work on that! Arlo felt like mentally yelling at his system. The silly thing should just use ranks f,e,d,c,b,a,s,ss,sss,o,z, like a normal thing. Well could that even be normal? Where did the o and the z even come from?

Eh whatever Arlo was more interested in breakfast at the moment.

...….

Arlo had just woken up from a snooze in the palace bed. These beds were really way too fluffy. Arlo practically sank into the sheets for the nap, he was probably lucky he hadn't suffocated.

Sho had said he wanted to leave in two hours. He had wanted to leave sooner but Arlo had wanted a nap. So edgey, why couldn't they just stay here for a bit? It wasn't like the world would end if they took a few days to just hang out here right?

"Oh good you're up" Sho entered the room.

"You sure we can't stay longer?" he immediately asked.

"Nope," Sho replied kissing his forehead, "we have a date with heading to the monster zone that we need to keep remember?"

"Fine" muttered Arlo. If he wanted to get away from his Shotian fans that badly. It was the only logical reason he could come up with.

He went to the bathroom and finished getting ready. He was about to come back out when a sight through the cracked door caught his attention. Ryan had entered their room.

"You can stay longer," he said brushing a hand through Sho's hair. It really irked Arlo, but then he calmed himself. Maybe humans here showed affection like demons more than his old world.

Sho stiffened "Sorry we are leaving, like I told you before Arlo is mine."

"You could have both of us?" Ryan said. Arlo felt the urge to toss him out a window. King or not, Sho was his. How had he missed something like this forming? Forget two hours, time to leave now.

He shot out of the bathroom. "Oh hi Ryan, we were just about to leave. Thank you for hosting us." He tried to keep his voice and face steady.

"Of course, please visit again soon." He replied.

'Haha' thought Arlo, not happening if I have anything to say about it. Arlo had finished packing already so he grabbed Sho's arm and dragged him from the castle. Sho just looked amused the entire time which ticked him off a bit.

By the time Arlo remembered to think straight they were on the edge of the capital grounds.

"Wait where are we going next?" he asked. "Oooh is it Fishton?"

Sho ruffled his hair with affection "Fishton is north, the monster zone is south. So Octogone is the town, don't worry though it's also famous for its fish. It is also a sea town."

"Hey Arlo?"

"Hmm, what's up?" Arlo turned to Sho.

"What if we.... Well instead of taking over the demon realm... what if we just find a nice quiet place to live?" Sho asked thinking it over. Seeing Arlo's questioning look he quickly mumbled "I…I don't... I don't want to ever lose you." He said quietly.

Arlo reached over to kiss him, "I'm not that easy to break" he smiled. "Octogone can be our honeymoon."

"You're avoiding the question." Sho commented.

Arlo remembered his original plan of just taking over the demon realm like some web novel hero, and releasing all the citizens from their fates. Then he thought of everything Sho.

Sho was better than anything else.

"Okay" he said leaning over and licking Sho's neck. "But I still plan to get to the point where both of us are too strong for anyone to beat."

Sho smiled "as long as you don't go putting yourself in danger on purpose."

"If we don't take over the demon realm though, we'd have to leave it. It's far too dangerous for you to stay there." Arlo said. "Darn and that hot springs would have made such a lovely location for a cottage."

Sho smirked "dangerous for me? You're the one with green eyes."

"The title and contacts cover them." Arlo retorted.

Sho contemplated for a moment then smiled "I think I know the perfect place, it's a little bit of a walk though."

"I'm not in a hurry, as long as I'm with you everything's perfect." Arlo replied.

"It's in the monster zone so we won't be bored. But this place is safe from them." Sho added.

"A safe place in the monster zone? That exists?" Arlo asked.

"You'll see" Sho replied with a smile.

...….

"Oh yes sea food!" Arlo combed his way through the stands of merchants selling fried everything in the ocean. "They even have fried shark!" Arlo yelped "REVENGE!" he then bought all of them. "What" he muttered seeing Sho's face.

"I just never thought you'd like Sharotko" then he paused "wait you've never had it before have you?"

"No why?" asked Arlo.

"Just take a bite you'll see." Sho had a mischievous look.

Arlo took a bite wondering if it was hard to eat or something and nearly died. His mouth was on fire! He downed 4 water bottles, 2 things of milk and had to lay down for a minute.

"Not a fan" he finally managed to gasp out.

Sho gently stoked his head. "Ever heard to the term try before you buy?" he glanced at the pile of sharky food and laughed.

...…..

It had been two weeks. Arlo and Sho had crossed into the monster zone. Arlo was not expecting to meet his previous friends the cameltos today.

These ones looked a lot meaner though.

"Goodness such a change in attitudes" Arlo watched the very well disciplined beasts march around like a military.

"You've met these before?" asked Sho.

"Once in a southern border town."

"Raysha's yearly camelto raid?" Sho asked.

"Yeah how did you know."

"Oh Arlo, do not based these monsters on that."

"Why" Arlo replied.

Sho smirked "their king kicks out the weakest 100 every year and tells them if they can get far enough into the demon realm without attacking anyone he will let them rejoin the herd."

"Do they ever succeed?"

"No."

"Harsh."

...…..

"Goodness how far into the monster realm are we? Beside that how do you even know this much of the monster territory when people aren't supposed to survive out here!" Arlo asked.

"Don't worry we are almost there. Think of it this way, if it's a place only I know about, it should be perfect." Sho replied.

Arlo was low key starting to debate if they should head back to society.

He muttered a little but followed Sho trustingly. If Sho wanted to live out here in the middle of nowhere he'd just have to learn how to do everything.

They had been traveling this desert like area for a few days now. Other than a few rocks and outcroppings everywhere looked the same. Hopefully Sho wouldn't get lost.

After another hour they came to a rock garden like area with a small oasis and cactus lots of them. Arlo wasn't a huge fan of deserts.

"We're here." Replied Sho. Arlo looked around.

"Why here?" he asked. Several other places they had passed of a similar nature had been far better.

"Looks can be deceiving" Sho replied walking up to a small crack in the rocks. "Come on!"

"Are you sure this is the right area?" asked Arlo for the 100th time. He slipped into the crack in the rocks. Going into this was like asking to get stuck so tight if it dead ended....

It kept going surprisingly. It seemed like they were going downward. How long was this tunnel?

The area opened up and Arlo gasped. They were in some type of large cavern, so large he couldn't see the other end of it. Large crystals all over the place filled it with light like daytime.

"How…. What…." Arlo wasn't sure what to ask first.

"It's over 50 miles long for this main cave, there are many others. The residents often call it the underside of the world." Sho said.

"Residents?" Arlo squeaked.

Sho smirked again "welcome to the best kept secret of the world, Kesshon. Also known as the crystal land of the fairies. Don't worry they are a non-aggressive monster type."
