Swords

Wan Yan was the most excited when his master spoke. His eyes were shining brightly.

"Ooh! Little brother you're so fortunate to exchange moves with my master! You will learn a lot!.. Master, will you teach him swordsmanship?" He leaped and landed just at the foot of the rock where his master sat.

Sun Xun nodded, looking straight at Song Jia, making her feel uncomfortable. His gaze was too piercing as if trying to dissect her.

Song Jia wanted to decline the offer but before she could say anything, Sun Xun had already appeared opposite her in the blink of an eye.

Sweat formed in the back of her neck. She was able to dodge Wan Yan's moves only because he was lenient on her. But she didn't think that this man called Sun Xun would think the same way.

Since the first time she saw him, she tried to discern his cultivation rank. But she was unable to. And for some reason, she felt like it was even higher than her uncle, father and grandfather.

Song Xia was at the 4th rank, 9th level of Qi Fusion. Whereas, Song Huo was at the 4th rank, 8th level of Qi Fusion as well. They have more strength, storage and use of spiritual energy in comparison to the 3rd rank cultivators.

General Song Qing was at 5th rank, level 2 of True Element. He can already start flying. Only that he prefers to use his sword while at it. Back then, her grandfather would take her to ride with him.

She used to lament how nice it would be to be able to see the world from above.

Only now, with Cynthia Dorsey's memory combined, she was not that impressed with the view from the sky anymore. She used to fly frequently, on airplanes, helicopters, and jets, and had even jumped from it to land on the targeted location with the parachute.

"Take out your sword.. Or don't you have one?" Sun Xun's voice woke her from her thoughts.

'Crystal, do you have a sword that I can use?'

'Yep! There's a lot here!'

'Just give me the lightest one for now.'

'Okay! Coming right up!'

Soon a chien sword appeared and she gripped its hilt. She took it out from the scabbard and placed it in the space.

Waving it around, testing how it feels on her hand.

On a plot of land a distance away from the hut, two beautiful men stood, sword in hand. The wind blew past, their hair swayed against it. If there were more audience at this moment, the women and girls would have swooned and taken sides and the men and boys would be placing bets.

"Ready.." She laid her gaze on him, steadying her breaths.

Sun Xun and Song Jia didn't waste time, both rushing forwards with their swords directed at each other. At the last second, she parried it, moving away. She tried to sneak an attack from behind him, but he disappeared before the tip of the sword touched him.

Both launched their attacks at the same time, and this time, Song Jia didn't move out of his reach. She clashed swords with him, one moving backward as the other moved forward, simultaneously.

Fortunately, Sun Xun didn't use any spiritual energy to combine with his sword. He merely used his techniques and blocked her every attack.

He would allow her to attack him five times while he blocked it in turn and then attack her once to let her experience blocking him.

Lu Ping was worried for her mistress at first but later on, she became in awe of the display of swordsmanship. She has seen her mistress train since they were only little, but who would have thought she has already achieved this amount of skill?

It would seem like the injuries she obtained from the ambush barely did anything to her.

In fact, it even made her more aggressive, fiercer and surprisingly, she was even more graceful. Soon, she would grow into adulthood, she would even be greater than how she is now.

Even Sun Xun could see this. The girl disguised as a boy really had skills. Her cultivation was not that high and yet she had surprised him time and time again. Seeing the potential, an idea alighted in his mind.

"Enough." After clashing one more time, Sun Xun leaped and stood in his original spot.

Song Jia was breathless. Both of them had clashed swords and barely had a moment to get their bearings.

The hand that was holding the hilt of the sword trembled. She placed the sword in her space, letting Crystal put it back in the scabbard.

"I learned so much from big brother Sun Xun…" She cupped her hands and bowed.

Sun Xun nodded lightly. "Ahemmm.." He cleared his throat. She looked up at him and saw that he was not done yet.

"Watch." His lips didn't move when he spoke. Song Jia gasped when she realized that he spoke to her in her mind.

'Such power!'

Song Jia's eyes narrowed at him like saucers.

A moment later, Sun Xun made a series of moves that looked so beautiful like a dance. She focused and tried to remember the moves as much as possible. All the while, Sun Xun would speak to Song Jia in her thoughts about each move.

"Raise palm to gather qi.. Black dragon comes out of sea.. Standing on the earth.. Block with sword-finger and brush sword.. King of Qin holds the moon.. Hold the moon in arms.. Old dragon seeks its lair.. Beat grass to look for the snake.. Scoop up the moon from the bottom of the sea.. Point to the galaxy.. Turn head to see the moon.. Golden cock stands on one leg.. Reach the sea.. Rotate pearl and present the fish.."

"That's the first section.. Did you get it?" Sun Xun spoke with his actual voice as he turned to look at Song Jia.
