They watched the way each twin made eye contact with them, one by one as if judging their integrity, their sincerity and looking into their very souls. It was a little unnerving but Rosalie understood the fear the children had, and then still clutching their bears in one hand they linked fingers and turned to face the other.
"Ready?" Liam asked Emma,
"Ready.." Was her reply,
If they would have blinked they would have missed it and even still none of them could contain their gasps of shock. Rosalie didn't know vampires could go into shock and yet here they were. Because they were here. Sitting in this room. Witnessing it, before their very eyes and Rosalie still had trouble believing it! Standing in front of them were her two beautiful children with wings. Actual white wings. They weren't huge, not like she would have expected them to be but then again she imagines that's because the children are small.
"Amazing!" She heard Carlisle breathe out and she knew what this must mean to him, he had always been a religious man and while she wasn't, not even when human, even she can't determine how to feel knowing that the children before her were or at least appeared to be Angels.
While they continue to stare wide eyed at the twins in front of them, who were patiently waiting for their reactions - the sun chose that moment to peak from behind the storm clouds outside, and while it just missed where the five vampires are seated in the room, it directly hits Emma and Liam, and another round of shocked gasps leave the rooms occupants.
Carlisle, Esme and Shannon are now on their knees mumbling something Rosalie doesn't care about while staring at her children and she now knows without a doubt, Angels! Because the sun seemed to illuminate halos above their heads. Fucking halos!
"Half Vampire, Half Angel?" Emmett questions. "Is that why the bad men wanted you?"
Liam, who had stepped half in front of Emma as if expecting a bad reaction, Which he probably does, Rosalie silently amended, shook his head no and Rosalie tried not to roll her eyes. What other reason could there be?
And before she could question it she was once again shocked into silence, as where there was first Emma and Liam, and then there was Emma and Liam with wings, now in that same spot sat two absolutely adorable white tiger cubs with black stripes. They each had a pink button nose, and much too big icy blue eyes with the fuzziest fur Rosalie had ever seen and she itched to run her fingers through it.
"Tribrids." Carlisle breathed out, "Good Lord Shannon! You didn't stumble across half human hybrids, you stumbled across a half vampire, half angel, half shifter set of twins!"
It seemed Emma got bored of waiting for them to break out of their shared shock because Emmett watched with anticipation as Emma's body crouched down onto the ground behind her brother, who was still watching the vampires in the room. He saw as her shoulder muscles start to lift one after the other - he didn't know much about cats but he had seen Lion King with Nessie and she looked an awful lot like when Simba was going to pounce on Zazu - and sure enough a few seconds later she launched herself at him with the most pitiful but adorable growl he had ever heard in his life, and two cubs were suddenly rolling around on the floor.
That seemed to do the trick, and a laugh escaped each of the vampires while they watched the wrestling cubs growl and tackle each other, Emmett couldn't tell who was winning but he wished they were old enough to wrestle him already because he was jealous! The match ended with one of the cubs, they couldn't tell which was which, sitting on the one beneath it before releasing an adorable meow and tilting it's head to the side in question.
"Can you turn back now?" Carlisle asked slowly, and he should have been a bit more literal in his question because suddenly Emma was sitting on top of a sprawled out Liam.
"That's my girl!" Emmett didn't realize he had said it out loud until he felt a soft smack to the back of his head. He looked at Rosalie in a 'what was that for' manner when she motioned to Liam, who looked a little like a kicked puppy, probably because he lost. "Hey, don't you worry little bear, we'll get you trained up and you'll win in no time!"
It seemed to be what he needed to hear, because a beaming Liam was suddenly seated on his lap while Emma took her time practically dancing over to Rosalie who scooped her into her arms without hesitation.
Carlisle, wanting the attention back on the matter at hand cleared his throat before proceeding, "Do either of you know anything you can tell me about your parents?"
He wasn't expecting the way both twins looked at him, with furrowed eye brows and concerned expressions. "Mommy." Emma spoke slowly, as if speaking to a child, before pressing a soft hand to Rosalie's cheek which was followed a second later by Liam saying, "Daddy." just as slowly and pressing his hand to Emmett's cheek. Each twin then proceeded to look at Carlisle once again, like they were trying to remind him of something he had forgotten.
Chuckling softly he mumbled, more to himself than the rest of the room, "Alright, I guess that answers that question."
"Do you guys have any other powers besides projecting your thoughts?" Carlisle questioned once again, trying to get any information he could on the amazing set of twins in front of him.
Emma, who had snuggled closer to Rosalie, who was whispering reassurances in her ear - nodded at Carlisle. "Can you show me?"
Emma made eye contact with Liam and the arms that weren't tucked in between their bodies and their parents, extended and they watched as Silas and Zane, who had been left on the floor during the cub wrestling match, were suddenly suspended mid air before moving towards each of the twins, where they tucked them under their arms when they were within reach.
"Telekinesis! Oh my." Carlisle looked like he had found the worlds greatest discovery. These were actual Tribrids. While Renesmee was rare and they had discovered three other children just like her - Emma and Liam weren't just rare they were a once in a lifetime type of discovery.
"And just as I promised I don't love you any less than I did before I knew, my little angel." Rosalie whispered to Emma who beamed up at her.
Emmett interrupting whatever question Carlisle was going to ask suddenly called out, "Can I see one of your tigers again?" And no sooner had the words left his mouth then two fuzzy tiger cubs were sitting on Rosalie and Emmett's lap.
Rosalie ran her fingers through the softest fur she had ever felt and was rewarded with a purr rumbling from the little tigers chest while her blue eyes closed and she nuzzled her face into her mother's stomach, but what shocked Rosalie was the responding purr that broke loose from her own chest. She knew, rationally she knew vampires purred, she'd heard it before but she herself had never purred.
Looking up and seeing the four other vampires looking at her with raised eyebrows and mirth filled eyes she narrowed her own biting out a "What?"
She was satisfied when they looked away but she didn't miss the smiles on their faces before doing so. She continued to pet Emma, trying not to focus too hard on the way she couldn't stop her own purr even if she wanted too, when Emma suddenly jerked away from her, releasing a soft but loud sneeze that sounded exactly like a baby sneeze. The movement forced little angel wings out of her back and propelled her tiny body off of Rosalie's lap. Rosalie would have caught her, and she'll chastise herself for that later but have you ever seen fucking wings on a tiger cub!?
It was somehow shocking, adorable and hilarious to watch the tiny body try to hold itself up by her not yet fully developed wings that were flapping rapidly while she suspended in mid air, before dropping her to the ground when exertion over powered them. She was sure it would have been a loud thud if it wasn't for Emmett who had used lightning fast reflexes to place Liam - still in cub form - in Rosalie's lap before catching Emma before she had even began to completely fall.
The little tiger in his arms was making a pitiful mewling noise, with her paws over her eyes cradled against Emmett's chest and it was obvious the situation had scared her, "I don't think she knew she could do that." He commented softly, rubbing behind her ears and down her spine, trying to coax her little eyes to open up.
Her wings were still out, and Rosalie couldn't contain her curiosity when she reached out to touch one, they were as soft as her fur and strong too. When her fingers came into contact with it, it shuddered as if surprised by the touch - no one having touched it before, she assumed, before flexing and another purr broke loose from the tiger not willing to yet open her eyes.
Liam, who was watching Emma with concerned blue eyes, hopped into Emmett's lap, nuzzling his head against his sisters releasing soothing purrs, that finally caused Emma's blue eyes to open. She meowed at him softly, to which he jumped off Emmett's lap and looked to his sister who mimicked his move.
They simply watched the two interact, and Rosalie wondered if they could understand the way they meowed at each other - or if they were talking to each other in their heads? They were getting better at identifying which cub was which - it was hard to tell. They were almost indistinguishable after all - except where Emma had white whiskers, Liam had black.
They watched Emma sit and watch Liam while he stood up and closed his eyes before tiny little wings also popped up on his back. Rosalie chuckled as she watched him spin in a circle trying to see his own wings before sitting with a huff - frustrated that he couldn't. Emma came over and rubbed her body along his frame, comforting him, is what Rosalie guessed she was doing, before she curled into a ball and closed her little eyes. Liam copied her movements seconds later, and they simply listened to the soft purrs coming from the twins before little bodies replaced the cubs.
"They transform back in their sleep." Carlisle was once again talking to himself, out loud as Rosalie scooped up a sleeping Emma while Emmett scooped up a sleeping Liam.
"I think all of the transformations and excitement took a lot of energy out of them. They should sleep, but not for long. It'll be time for some food and blood soon." Shannon commented checking her watch, it was hard to believe it was already 4 in the afternoon and she knew around 6 the twins would get hungry.
"Around what times do they usually eat?" Rosalie asked as she followed her and her family back to the twins designated room, at least for one more day.
"First thing in the morning when they wake up, they eat more than humans, so I usually give them both food and sippy cups. Then again around noon, they're usually thirsty. They can eat human food but don't have too, as long as they get blood they'll go down for their naps easily. If they didn't eat human food then again at four they'll want some again with blood. If they had blood along with lunch then they'll be fine until six which Is when we will have to wake them up to eat. And then again tonight at ten they'll have their final sippy cup and sleep for the night."
Rosalie knew with her vampire memory she would have no problem remembering but it was mostly just on the twins schedule, and she knew it helped that they could ask for what they want.
"What other powers do you think they have?" Emmett asked as he laid Liam down on the bed, tucking Zane under his little arm before taking off his shoes and wrapping him in the blanket.
Rosalie mimicked his actions with Emma before sitting on Emmett's lap and looking at Carlisle who she knew Emmett was asking, even though he hadn't directly referred to him.
"I'm not sure, realistically the possibilities are endless with their species. I mean, I'm not even sure if there are any myth's or legends about Tribrids, I just don't think the world thought of it as a possibility, but if we go off individual myths for the individual species they make up - well angels are unpredictable. Any number of powers could be gifted to the young ones, and they will become more powerful the older they get. Which is mind blowing, because they are already quite powerful!"
Rosalie couldn't help but agree with him. So far her children could communicate telepathically, they could shape shift into tigers, they are part angel - so they had wings and she was sure they could fly once they became older and practiced, and they had the power of Telekinesis. They were also faster than a vampire.
"They're almost too fast for one of us to see, I wonder what that means for their strength, are they weaker than us and make up for it in speed or are they stronger and faster? They seem so soft but they are part vampire. They have a heartbeat - so blood pumps through their veins…Vampire, Shifter and Angel blood - does that make them vulnerable to attack? Could they experience broken bones like a shifter or is there skin impenetrable like ours?"
Carlisle was too busy speaking aloud, he didn't notice the two sets of onyx black eyes staring at him intently, but Esme did. Clearing her throat she tried to diffuse the tension, "Not that we would ever dream of finding out, right honey?" She tried to get his attention but he didn't seem to catch her not so subtle hint.
"I wonder if it would be possible to draw blood from them to study.." A snarl broke him out of his musings and he looked up to see an enraged Rosalie being held back by an equally angry looking Emmett.
"They are children! Not experiments!" She growled at her sire, who looked surprised by the outburst.
"I know, and I'm not suggesting we hurt them! But wouldn't you rather know if they can be injured as easily as a shifter can or if they are as vulnerable as a human?" He tried to appeal to the side of Rosalie he knew would want to know, not out of curiosity like him but so she could be better prepared for how to protect the twins. If they could be harmed as easily as humans or shifters it would make life harder for everyone involved.
"We'll ask them, when they're awake. They're smart, they'll be able to understand and either give you permission or refuse." Emmett stated, staring intently at Carlisle. He forced himself to remember this was his father - who wouldn't harm either of the twins, because if he forgot that for even a second he would rip him apart for his suggestions.
Carlisle released a breathe he didn't know he was holding when Rosalie nodded her acceptance of the plan and they both relaxed. Their eyes didn't return to bright Topaz, but they lightened a few shades. Carlisle from that moment on, began to take notes on his thought process instead of speaking it aloud. Rosalie was focused on having to reschedule their flight and rent a car with two booster seats when her phone dinged,
Alice: It's a sixteen hour flight, are the twins going to be able to handle that?
"Do you think the twins can handle a sixteen hour flight or should we run at least some of the way?" Rosalie asked Carlisle and Esme, she would rather run but this was about what was best for the twins.
"i think you should run, even if it's only to somewhere the flight will take three hours max. I wouldn't want to risk the twins getting hungry on the flight, I don't think they'll hurt anyone but it'll be hard to hide their eyes."
They'd run to Anchorage and then catch a flight to Denali then.
Alice: You're flight is booked for 1 and you'll be in Denali by 3:30, they'll be a car waiting for you
Sometimes Alice's gift annoyed her and other times, like now to be exact, it made her life so much easier should could kiss the pixie vampire.
Rose: Thank you
Alice: Don't stay long, I want to meet my new Niece and Nephew!
Rolling her eyes and sending a quick text to Tanya to let them know they'd be there tomorrow around four, she put her phone back in her pocket and looked over to see Emmett watching the twins while they sleep.
"We'll need to hunt before tomorrow," She told him, looking into his darker topaz eyes.
Nodding he looked at her before looking back, "we'll go after they're asleep for the night."
