Chapter 6

"Ahem," John cleared his throat and l instantly moved away from Will's embrace; l wonder why is that.

Josh is eating a mint chocolate chip ice-cream, l guess ice-cream cheers up everyone because Josh is now all smiles and it's contagious, l start smiling too.

We all walk back to the car in silence.

"Why don't we all go for ice-cream," John offers and everyone agrees except for me because l was not in the mood for ice-cream l just wanted some fresh air all by myself.

I sit at the back with Will and Josh sits with John Infront, the whole trip to the ice-cream parlor.

l was staring out the window consumed by my thoughts and how life just turned upside down from nowhere. We get to the ice-cream shop and Will goes to buy for the three of them. l got down and started walking around giving myself some space.

"What's wrong Andy." John asks.

"God, you scared me to death," l say very much startled by John's sudden appearance.

"Talk to me, what is it?" He asks his voice laced with concern his eyes holding sympathy.

"Nothing l just want some time to myself that's all."

"Well l feel like you are avoiding me," he says and the fact that he almost walks away shows that he said what was in his mind without filtering anything. I hold his hand before he walked away.

"No l am not avoiding you why would l avoid you; you are being ridiculous."

"Well for starters you did not want me to comfort you and be there for you when you were at your most vulnerable moment when we were at the river and you did not sit with me in the car." He says and starts starring everywhere else except for where l was standing.

"Back there I wanted to get everything off my chest and tell them, tell my parents." I say staring direct in his eyes.

"And l figured you might want to bond more with Josh that is why l sat at the back." I tell him and l watched the sadness from his eyes vaporizing into thin air.

Does he have feelings me? I start wondering the moment he embraces me.

After that talk l got myself ice-cream and all the sorrow got wiped away. The ice-cream treat hit the right spot and all of us went house hunting.

"Of course, it won't do." Will says to John and they both agree.

"There is no need to make this a big deal out of this. I don't want it to be some fancy, cold apartment, l want a cozy small apartment."

I inform the two mansion maniacs and they both agree to let me pick the one l want. I choose two of the houses that were there and we decided to go take a look at both of them so that l will make my final pick.

The first house had a phenomenal view from the balcony but it was too modern and l certainly do not fancy those kinds of houses. The last one was perfect so perfect that l choose it immediately.

The floors are tiled with white tiles. The walls are beautiful. The windows are large, and the furniture is squeaky-clean. If I could design the perfect space, this would be it. It's somehow old-fashioned, but looks morden. The two boys who have become the closest thing l have to family watch me intently as I look around, going into the other rooms and letting them and the man who is showing us the house trail behind. The kitchen is big and has light-grey colored tiles above the sink and countertop, adding a light, welcoming look. I absolutely love everything about this beautiful apartment. The bathroom is big enough for us, and the two bedrooms are just as perfect as the rest of the place. My room has three walls are old red brick and the fourth is covered with a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf. I loved history as l was growing up l will definitely fill the bookshelves with historical books, we even had a library at home spilling with such books. My dad had an interest in it so, it kind of grew on me. We would discover a different way of communication that was used in the early ages almost every day. The bookshelves had a ladder attached, and l can't help but laugh because I always pictured myself having this exact apartment when l started my new job.

"I love it." I say very much delighted that l got a place l actually liked.

As soon as l said that l signed the papers and the humble man gave me the apartment keys. After a successful apartment hunt the boys decide to go and buy more furniture, the house came furnished but they just wanted to add more stuff and make it more feminine. I stayed with Josh and re arranged some of the furniture to suit my liking.

After exactly an hour the boys came back with tons of groceries, toiletries and furniture.

"Flower shaped lamb, really? You have to be kidding me, the pink blankets!!" I say out of shock. Pink looks good on you Will tells me as they both stare at each their faces covered with 'l told you pink will not do' looks and l just laughed at them.

We all finished placing everything in order and l prepared a meal for everyone to eat since we spent the whole day busy.
