Chapter 10

Two weeks later

Still no word from John

I was now working at the coffeehouse coffee shop that was approximately 400m from home. I also made a friend called Regan who also worked at the coffee shop, she would come over for a girl's night at my place.

Josh was really doing well at school and I was called a few times to discuss about him joining the schools Quiz Club and eventually l agreed its time he joined.

After l had given it some thought l decide it's about time I try on the glasses. I got into my room and locked the door, took the spectacles and wore them. Nothing is happening, I remove and wear them again but still nothing changed. Last attempt; I then remove the glasses, breathe in a few times and put them back on.

"Hie Andy Givens, I am NINA which stands for ----"

I remove them immediately and toss them aside. What is happening to me, am l hearing things??? I just sit there staring at the glasses l had thrown on the floor. I am never scared to try on new things, l remind myself and pick the glasses right up and wear then once more.

"Hie Andy," the glasses said once again.

"Hie Nina." I say still wrapping my head around the thought of talking to spectacles. After a couple of minutes of silence Nina decides to speak first.

"You seem scared, what is wrong Andy?" Nina asks sounding so concerned.

"I don't know maybe the fact that l am talking to you for a start." I say.

After sometime of processing the whole thing I suddenly start crying when it hits me that Nina, her voice is my mom's.

Nina comforts me and as weird as it is, I feel like I have my mom back, l feel this kind of closeness like never before. She goes on to tell me that everything I wanted to know about mom and dad will be at the Moonlight Organization (MO).

They hold all the answers I needed so, I had to go and get all the answers there. I quickly pull myself together, grab Nina and head for the organization.

I look it up on Google maps and follow the directions given.

It doesn't take me thirty minutes to get there and as soon as I approach the gates it opens and I lead myself in. It was a very tall and well-polished white building written Moonlight in bold black italicized letters. A man clad in a black and well-fitting tuxedo approaches me and I freeze for a moment and brought back to reality when he taps my shoulder, for the tenth time I suppose. He gestures that I remove my spectacles and he whips out his wand to search me but before he can start a woman neatly dressed in an envy green dress, black red bottom heels stops him.

"Andy," she beams at me and hugs me tightly. I hug back ignoring the fact that I don't know her and she seems to know me very very well.

She looks at me sympathetically as she says her condolences, "I am very sorry child, your mother and I were very close friends I used to babysit you whenever she was on an important mission when you and Josh were still kids." She makes it known to me leading me into the building straight to her office, I guess. We reach a glass door written Lydia McConaughey and she opens the door gesturing for me to get in. I make my way to a black couch, sit and she offers me a glass of water. I don't give her a chance to sit I quickly bombard her with questions.

"Why were my parents killed?"

"Who killed them?"

"My parents were spies???"

She walks towards me to take a sit right besides me and breathes in before saying anything.

"Yes, your parents were spies and the best ones at this organization. As soon as I heard the news, I knew I had to be here for you and Josh so l decided to fly in as soon as possible but doctor Callaghan suggested I meet you after you are discharged so here, we are. On the issue of who had them killed we are not yet sure but at that time the organization was looking into big corrupt

M|M companies that's when everything went wrong.

But we have some leads as to who might have been affected by our researches that they may have ordered the assassination of both Mr. and Mrs. Givens. Your mom might have found something so valuable that could expose these companies but we could not find it, she got killed before we could get our hands on the information she had got.''

I was dumfounded by the time she finished not because of them being spies, I knew something was off with them but I couldn't put my finger on it. All this now makes sense, the emergencies at school and the late nights.

"I want to tell you that your mother was always proud of you, she even wanted to tell you all this and let you join because she saw great potential in you but the Major wanted her to wait until it was the right time because it could pose dangers to you and Josh.'' Lydia informs me and I nod knowing exactly what she meant.

"I understand,'' I tell her smiling.

"But you could join now, l mean if you have no job. Kate said you got a job how is it going are you fitting in perfectly??'' she asks full of concern and I tell her exactly what happened and also informing that I needed to think about her offer before making any rash decisions.

"I respect your decision Andy, but if you do agree you will be partnering with one of our best agents, I bet your team will be unstoppable." I smile widely at her failure to convince me.

"I must be going, l have to pick up Josh from school."

"oooh, little Josh he is all grown up now.'' She says leading me out of the office.

She decides that I meet the agent before I pick up Josh and I agree as this does no harm meeting my competition.

We reach the end of the hallway and there is a glass door as well written Ruah in capital italicized black letters.

As we were about to knock a man in a navy-blue suit approached us calling Mrs. McConaughey

"We located the burner phone that was used on operation Ridge,'' he says and she immediately excused herself to go attend the issue and I was left to knock by myself.

A boy my age or maybe slightly older than me by two or three years approaches the door; he is wearing black jeans; a formal white shirt and his hair is neatly combed opens the door.

"Mama Mia am I only destined to see handsome boys." I say to myself and he smiles.

"He has an adorable smile too," I continue complementing him in my mind.

"Thank you for the rather odd compliments." He says flashing a handsome smile again and I flush.

"How did he hear me; I didn't tell him that it's all in my mind. Wait can he read people's minds.'' I arch an eyebrow staring at him suspiciously.

"No, I don't read people's minds, perhaps you are thinking out loud." He says slightly chuckling. I face palm myself.

"This is so humiliating," I say to myself this time and he didn't hear that.

"You must be Andy Givens, my partner??" He questions stretching his hand out to shake my hand and I meet him half way.

He has a firm but soft grip.
