It's been two days since Hajime's revenge with the bear had finished. Kazuto has already searched more than eighty percent of the level for the route leading upwards, but so far none has been found.
No, it is wrong to say that nothing was found. More precisely, it is the path "upstairs", the path "downstairs" had been discovered two days ago. The Dungeon's structure which consists of many floors will definitely have a path leading up, but no matter what he did, it simply couldn't be found.
Furthermore, ignoring the strange dungeon, the method of directly creating a path upstairs through transmutation had already been tried. In the end, no matter it was upwards or downwards, they found out that after advancing a certain extent, somehow the walls become unresponsive to transmutation. There were no limits as to how much they transmuted within the level, but it might be covered in some sort of protection in regards to upwards and downwards. This [Orcus Great Dungeon] is a dungeon created since ancient times, and full of mysteries. It is hardly surprising.
That's why, he could only honestly search for a path up, but a decision has to be made should the path not be found. That was, to dive even deeper into the Great Dungeon.
"I will be going now Hajime and if I find the exit then, I will wait for you there or l will leave a message for you in there."
"Aren't you thinking too positively? What if you die while searching for the exit? It's not like you will always be lucky like before and survive even after 10 days of fall."
Hajime said while making his bullets for the gun, which takes thirty minutes to complete by the way. Kazuto had decided that he would journey in the dungeon alone from now onwards. Because Kazuto's stat has became more higher than Hajime's, as he already had a high stats from the start. Fighthing together will only slow their growth and they have planned to meet later. It's not because of his ego or something but because it became too easy for them together. And also the fact that it takes too long for hajime to prepare ammunition for both after each battle.
The main reason is also that if they keep fighting everything together, their combat strength will not improve much compared to when fighting alone. It is also not because kazuto wants to let loose on some strong monsters and is tired of waiting for hajime always after a long battle, yeah it is not true at all....
Saying one last goodbye to his companion, Kazuto headed towards the staircase leading to the lower floors. That staircase was extremely poorly constructed. It might be more accurate to call it an uneven hill road rather than a staircase. From that point on, there were no longer any Green Light Stones, plunging the area ahead in complete darkness and oozing an ominous aura. It was like looking into the mouth of an enormous monster. The feeling of "It's impossible to leave once you've entered' naturally arose.
Seeing the scene in front of him Kazuto had a small excited smile on his face and he headed downwards.
Kazuto had two katana on his back, one as his main weapon and another for emergency use. He also has a hangun on his hip with dozens bullet and a container containing the water of God crystal collected till now. He also has a cape created from the fur of the bear and backpack created using transmutation and enchantment.
This level was very dark. It's natural for an underground dungeon, but all the levels that he had been to so far had Green Light Stones, and though those levels were dim, it was not so much that he couldn't even see ahead. However, it seemed like this level did not have any Green Light Stones. Stopping for a little while, Kazuto was expecting his eyes to somewhat get used to seeing in the dark, but no matter how long passed, there were no differences. As a last resort, he took out the Green Light Stone to serve as a lamp from the improvised backpack they made with transmuted wires from the Talon Bear's fur.
Bluntly speaking, possessing a light source in the darkness is equivalent to suicide if there were magic beasts around. However, since he wasn't able to even move on without this, Kazuto could only take the plunge. As such, he started advancing while holding the stone in his left hand.
After progressing for a while, noticing something shining within the passageway, Kazuto raised his awareness to the maximum. Advancing while staying hidden under the shadows as much as possible, he suddenly felt an unpleasant presence from his left. He instantly jumped back and pointed the Green Light Stone towards the presence. There was a gray lizard approximately two meter in length stuck to the wall, glaring at Kazuto with its golden eyes.
Kazuto's instinct were screaming at him to not remain any longer in the creature's eyesight. Following his instinct, Kazuto threw the stone towards the eye of the lizard and used [Ground sink] to take a cover behind a boulder.
While peeking through the boulder, Kazuto saw that the stone was petrified and once again darkness covered the whole place. In the darkness, Kazuto once again saw the golden glowing eyes. Narrowing his eyes, Kazuto used divine step and arrived mid-air above the boulder, instantly the boulder crumbled. It looks like the lizard has the eye of petrification like from RPG.
Still in mid-air Kazuto created three fireballs of 50cm and fired it towards the lizard's direction. Although, the spell looked strong, in reality it couldn't even scratch the lizard because of its tough skin. But what Kazuto wanted to do was not to damage the lizard but to divert it's attention. Using this moment, kazuto once again used [ Ground Sink ] and arrived near the head of the lizard pierceing it's skull with his katana using [Lightning Clad] and instantly killing it. Looking at the dead beast for a while Kazuto took some meat from the lizard to eat for later and once again started moving forward with his blood boiling in excitement for the fights to come.
