Kazuto kept walking in the darkness. Despite feeling as if he had continuously searched for several tens of hours, yet the staircase leading down was still nowhere in sight. Along the way, he has defeated many magic beasts and collected many ores and it was gradually becoming an inconvenience to carry. Thus, Kazuto decided to construct a base.
After finding a suitable spot, he placed his hand on the ground near the wall and began producing earth walls around him to cover himself. Then he enchanted the walls increasing its strength and made it so it could also decrease his presence even a little. There wasn't any particular problems doing this, and he made a small 2×2m space for himself.
"Well, then, time to eat."
Kazuto took out the meat from the container in his backpack. Using [Lightning Clad], he cooked it evenly. Today's menu included: Whole Roast Basilisk, Whole Roast Owl; which fires its feathers like a shotgun, and Whole Roast six-legged Cat. With no seasoning.
"Itadakimasu~"
While eating with munching sounds, pain began to gradually course through his body. That is to say, his body has been strengthened. If that was the case, it means that the magic beasts here possess strength equal or higher than that of the Talon Bear. The combination of the dark environment and unique magic will definitely prove to be a problem. But Kazuto's true feelings were that, as long as he could freely fight and improve himself, he is happy with it. Although, sometimes he misses civilization and modern food.
Kazuto continued to eat while ignoring the pain and drinking Sacred Water. The continuous pain starting from the eating monsters meat had made Kazuto extremely resistant to pain.
"Chomp, Fu~u. I'm done. Now then, my status..."
While saying that, Kazuto took out his status plate. Kazuto's current status is...

There was a substantial rise just as expected. Even the number of skills in the skills column increased by many times. Looking around carefully, he could certainly see further into the surroundings as compared to before. It appears to be the effects of [Night Vision].Since the magic beasts of the abyss had faint presences, it is incredibly advantageous in this level. Lastly, was the literal skill. Regrettably, Basilisk's unique ability was [Resistance] and not [Petrify].
Although, it is a little dangerous to do so, Kazuto relaxed his muscles a little and began to rest. Though he still had his [Presence perception] and [Hide presence] skill activated if anything unexpected situation were to come.
Kazuto beagn to rest silently. Besides, he has only descended one level. It was impossible to estimate how much deeper this abyss stretches. He planned to set out to search immediately after finishing resting a little for the sake of finding the exit even a little bit earlier. There was no point in lingering around. In the lonely abyss, the Green crystal's pale light illuminated Kazuto's determined eyes with a excited smile, who is just beginning his Dungeon capturing journey.
Other than using earth and enchantment at his base to replenish his consumables at times, Kazuto was constantly on the move. Taking a short rest during his search of the vast dungeon, he had no idea how long had passed. With help from [Night Vision], he no longer had to worry about the darkness and with [Presence Perception], he was able to sense any magic beasts within a ten meter radius. Kazuto advanced his search quickly.
Then, the stairs leading to the lower floor was finally discovered, which Kazuto unhesitantly and warily descended.
On this level, the ground was entirely covered in tar like a sticky swamp. Before stepping in the swamp Kazuto decided to test what kind of liquid is this as he is extremely vigilant against traps. He found a small puddle of tar far away from the rest of the swamp of tar and went there. After reaching there, he checked properly and seeing nothing especial about it, expect for his stickiness, Kazuto decided to check it with fire. And it looks like testing this tar with fire was one of the best he did in his life as he was saved from being burnt. It is because that the tar was not easily flammable but once it caught it's temperature would reach near thousand degree celsius and seems to be still increasing.
Even so Kazuto decided to move forward and get past it without using any heat containing skill or magic for his own safety. Since the tar stuck to the legs, it was dreadfully hard to move. Kazuto frowned as he used the protruding rocks or [Aerodynamic]as footholds and began his search.
Advancing for a while, he reached a three-forked road. Following the theory of leaving a mark on the nearby wall, he stepped forward planning to explore the left passage.
At that instant, Gachin!
"——!?"
With rows of countless sharp teeth lining its opened huge jaws, a shark-like magic beast jumped out from within the tar. Aimed at Kazuto's head, the jaws snapped shut as a resounding sound of teeth striking each other was produced. Although Kazuto managed to dodge by bending his body at once, he shuddered as had a frown on his face and a cold look in his eyes.
([Presence Perception] didn't react!)
Well, ever since he obtained the [Presence Perception] skill, he had kept it continuously active. He should have been able to detect any living thing within a ten meter radius without fail. Despite that, he completely couldn't sense the shark from a moment ago until just before it attacked.
Missing its bite on Kazuto, the shark dived into the tar with a Plop and disappeared once more.
(Damn, as expected, its presence can't be grasped!)
Kazuto became agitated and gnashed his teeth at the incomprehensible situation. At any rate, to prevent any damage, Kazuto resumed his movements using [Aerodynamic].
Almost as if waiting for that instant, the shark jumped out once again. But Kazuto smiled as he said,
"I got you!"
Kazuto somersaulted in the air, and fired using the handgun towards the shark's eye which was passing overhead in his inverted field of vision. The bullet released from gun which was meant to tear apart its foes, cut through the air and accurately headed for the eye of the shark with exquisite timing.
However,
"Shit!, It got repelled!"
The moment the bullet was the near the eye of the shark it turned it's head a little to the side. Then it hit the shark's skull but the hit was as if striking rubber, the shark's skin depressed and easily reflected the bullet. It seems like the shark's skin has the property of Physical Impact Mitigation.
"Grr!"
Thinking that it was natural for it to dive back into the tar after passing through, the shark made an astounding movement. Landing for a single instant, the shark turned around and leapt towards Kazuto again. Kazuto however was already ready as he manged to dodge by twisting his body and landed on the tar. Despite having half of his entire body dyed pitched black, he hurriedly got up and skipped into the air once more. Immediately following that, the shark's jaws materialized directly below where Kazuto stepped out from, and with a loud Bakun!, snapped shut.
Cold sweat began to flow from Kazuto who was skipping in the air using [Aerodynamic]. Nevertheless, despite being driven to a corner, his lips had his usual excited smile when fighting the battle.
"Bring it on!"
Using [Aerodynamic] again, Kazuto bounded in the air, never stopping at any location while waiting for the attacking moment. Fully demonstrating his concentration mostly gained throug his swordsmanship training, the surrounding landscape gradually faded out of his sight. (...It's not a problem to be unable to detect its presence. I didn't have this skill initially either. Even if I can't sense its presence, it will definitely be there at that instant it attacks)
Kazuto was so focused on his thoughts while jumping that he accidentally lost his balance. The shark didn't miss this opportunity and instantly leapt from a blind spot at the back.
But Kazuto who was supposed to have lost his balance had a indifferent face as he immediately righted himself when the shark was near and fended off the attacking shark with a mid-air side flip while throwing the katana in his right hand towards the shark piercing it's mouth.
In the next moment, the shark was spraying blood from a deep cut on its side as it fell into the tar. The shark splashed about in the tar as it struggled in agony.
Kazuto's deliberate act of losing his balance and exposing his back was to provide the time, place and opportunity and incite an attack. Then, wrapping his katana in the Talon Bear's unique magic [Air Claw], he tore it apart.
Kazuto approached the squirming shark and swung his other katana down at its head. [Air Claw] cleanly bisected the shark's head. Though he wasn't able to form three Air Claws like the Talon Bear, its sharpness has far surpassed that of famous swords. It is a truly reliable unique magic for close quarters.
"Now then, let's confirm the reason why its presence can't be detected?"
Kazuto said that while licking his lips.
After that, the shark meat was removed and stored before continuing with the exploration, and finally, the staircase leading down was discovered.
Kazuto's walkthrough of the Dungeon continues
Since the tar level, he had advanced 50 levels deeper. Because Kazuto did not have a sense of time there, he did not know how much time had passed. But the progress he was making was being done in an astonishing speed.
During that time, he was in great battles and was improving nicely. Countless times he had encountered stronger demons and battled for his life.
For example, one level had a thin poisonous fog covering the whole floor. There was a 2m frog (Rainbow colored) that spit poisoned sputum at him, and a moth that spread scales that caused paralysis. If he didn't drink his "Potion", he would have died just from being on that level.
The iridescent frog's poison was an agent that targeted the nerves and lit it up with pain. His experience with the pain was comparable to the pain from his first taste of demon flesh. He would have died if he didn't consume the "Potion" in his hip near the gun. Kazuto had placed a small container of potion in his hip for emergency uses if he couldn't open the backpack properly in battle. He was happy he prepared just in case of emergencies.
Naturally, he had consumed two of them. There was friction when he ate the moth, because of the supercompensation pain, he resolved it by consuming the "Potion". Vexed at the fact that the moth tasted better than the frog.
There was also a floor that looked like a dense forest, how it came to be in an underground labyrinth puzzled Kazuto. Kazuto thought this was the most unpleasant place so far because its extremely hot temperature and dense humidity. The demons of this level were a huge centipede and sentient trees.
When he was traversing the jungle, a huge centipede suddenly fell from atop the trees. Kazuto felt sick at the sight of it, and developed goose bumps on his whole body. Each time a section it was hit, it would separate. Fight one of these centipede was like fighting 30 monsters*. Kazuto was using his katana with lightning imbued in it, but there were too many for it to deal with. Killing all of them would have taken a long time, so he switched to his "Air Claws". After this encounter, Kazuto was determined to develop some really powerful long range attacks in the future at any cost. This was decided while he was washing away the purple fluids from the centipede.
The tree demons were like Treants from RPG games. Its underground roots would thrust out from the ground and vines acted as whips for them. However, the biggest feature of the treants were not these trivial attacks. When they were in a pinch, they would hurl the red fruits that littered their heads. There was not any offensive ability to it, but Kazuto though to try it out. He was rigid for a few dozen minutes. It was not a poison. The fruit was insanely delicious. Sweet and fresh the red fruit was comparable to a watermelon. Not an apple.
The unpleasantness he felt on this level was blown away. Every thought vanished from his head temporarily. After many dozen days he had eaten something other than meat. Kazuto's eyes were completely of a hunter, his prey were these treants. After he was satisfied he continued his journey, though the treant-like demons almost went extinct.
With that feeling he advanced through 50 levels. Kazuto was inside the base he created for this 50th level. He was stacking up his training for his swordsmanship, enchantment, and some martail arts. Even though he had discovered the next stairs, he did not take them. Because he had discovered a foreign area on this level.
The space around the area was eerie. At the end of this side area was a solemn majestic double door about 3m in height. On the flanks of the doors were two one-eyed giants sculptures enshrined into the walls; only their upper bodies were seen a little. Temporarily he had a dangerous feeling about this. He did not have the intention to avoid this and prepared to challenge it with his equipment. Eventually a "change" appeared.
Kazuto was feeling expectation, excitment and unpleasantness at the same time. If he opened the door, he was sure that a disaster was waiting to meet him. However, a new wind blew into this Dungeon.
"As if it was a Pandora's box…I wonder what aspiration it contained."
His current possessed weapons, martial arts, and skills. One by one he checked and prepared them to make sure they were in perfect condition. When he finished this task, Kazuto holded the katana on his right hand. He closed his eyes gently. Though he already had decided to be resolute. It wasn't bad to repeat his resolution. Kazuto looked into himself in his heart and made a promise.
"I want to fight many battles, and enjoy my life however I want, and for that I will even put my life on the line and fight anyone if necessary."
Kazuto opened his eyes and a charming smile graced his face.
Vigilantly, Kazuto came to the rooms with the door and advanced. Without incident he arrived at the door. More and more wonderful decorations could be seen on the door as he neared. At the center, two magic formations were drawn in the recesses. The door was big and it was filled with so magic circles that he himself had never seen. Nevertheless, he had decided to see what is inside at any cost...
