Adonis had the genes of Zeus. Born of a human mother he was the so-called DemiGod.
And like Zeus's other sons he too had inherited some perks of his. But there was something different… something that was never seen before… a power that should not exist residing in his body.
"You are referring to your hidden power..." Miya whispered as her pupils shook trying to find the meaning to her own words.
Miya knew of Adonis's secret and knew what he meant when he showcased the vial of blood. That was not to say that the blood was not mysterious. It was a glistening red fluid that refused to clot.
Where did Adonis's powers come from? No one knew. Adonis claimed that it was some kind of mutation but he wasn't sure.
Adonis had the power to cultivate blood!
While Adonis had only Miya's blood to cultivate till now, the effects weren't substantial with her blood alone. Miya was a demi-God just like him. The primordial energy in her blood was thus diluted to a great degree. Only the blood of a true God had any hopes of affecting his strength.
Adonis smirked as he enjoyed Miya's worried expression. Something about it made his heart boil...
"I have 'her' blood in my hands. We just need to find a safe place so that I can cultivate it while you protect me," Adonis winked.
Adonis smiled as he looked at Miya while she fervently nodded.
'He never absorbed a God's blood before. Maybe …'
She had her eyes shimmering with hope. If things turned out the way she thought won't that be a miracle? If Adonis could increase in strength with his cultivation won't be able to surpass the strength of the Gods?
But alas Adonis knew that all of that was a pipe dream. The Gods would never let him live. They would kill him on the first chance that they get. But he needs to fight back if at all he wants to save the life of Mitya and his other associates.
"Let's go, Miya," Adonis continued. "We are running out of time. The gods have begun to move."
Adonis sighed. He knew that he had become a pawn in 'her' hands. But he had to comply for now. For he had no other option to save Miya.
'If fate gives me an opportunity I will destroy 'her' someday as well.'
Adonis was a rebel. A rebel against the ways of the Gods. What worth were the Gods who couldn't protect them but became a threat to them instead? He would very much call them demons rather than Gods.
Given the opportunity to kill a God, he would never back off!

Adonis and Miya came down the mountain hand in hand. Miya latched onto him for the last bit of warmth she was ever going to receive from him. She feared that she would lose him. Her turbulent heart was unable to find rest.
'I would rather die with him than leave him behind,' Miya thought.
The weather above was turning cloudy. Adonis wanted to find a shelter somewhere for it looked like it would rain.
Suddenly his estimation became the truth.
*Drip* *Drip*
A downpour was enshrined on Adonis and Miya's shoulders. Adonis took out his shield from his bag and raised it high to prevent them from getting wet. His pupils moved left and right as he looked for a place to take shelter.
It fell on a village… an abandoned one with a dried-out river.
"That village looks like a nice place to stay for shelter. Come on Miya," Adonis claimed.
Miya could only nod to his response. The onslaught of rain wasn't a good sign. Had the gods really started to move? Miya had no clue, all she wanted was Adonis's safety and she was willing to lay her life for it.
They ran inside a peasant's house. Compared to the other houses it had done a good job baring against the erosion of time. The ceiling was riddled with cobwebs and the floor was riddled with dust.
But the duo was least bothered by it for they knew that the worst days were lying ahead waiting for them. They could only consider themselves lucky to have found a shelter.
"Adonis, there is a knot in my heart. I don't think the sudden change of weather is a good sign," Miya claimed as she crossed her fingers.
Adonis nodded.
"You are right Miya. We need to take proper measures as soon as possible."
Yet Adonis knew that there were no measures that he could take to save himself. Nothing was enough.
He glanced towards the dusty floor as only one thought came to his mind. His pupils shook.
He took his resolve as he glanced into Miya's eyes.
"Miya I need to cultivate 'her' blood? There is no other way, we must do it as early as we can."
Adonis looked at Miya with a guilty expression. He knew that what he was about to do was wrong. Taking 'her' help was the last thing he should be doing. By the standards of their world, it was blasphemous! But then again didn't Adonis want to rebel against this very world?
He had no other option. If doing so would aid him in his survival then he would very much be willing to do so.
'I just don't want Miya to hate me for this.'
