"Adonis…," Miya had a smile on her face that could no longer be contained. She felt like jumping up and down in the air out of elation. But first...
She ran towards him forgetting everything that had happened to her so far. She didn't mind the injuries, she didn't mind the witches. She was just happy that Adonis was safe and she could ask him for a kiss again.
*Swish*
Adonis swirled his blade and dug them into the ground knowing what was coming. He saw it in Miya's eyes. At the moment she desired him more than anything.
Miya might be a busty adult woman on the outside. But on the inside, she was just a child. Living in seclusion for her whole life sure had affected her personality in a unique direction. She was unaware of the ways of the world and trusted Adonis blindly. And why would she not? They belonged to each other.
Both Adonis and Miya had no one else in the world but each other. They were left alone, abandoned, left to rot all of their life. They could only find comfort in each other's embrace.
And that was what Miya did. She ran into Adonis's arms as Adonis wrapped his arms around her playing with her hair. Its arousing smell drifted into his nostrils making him want Miya more.
"Adonis, I was so worried…. I thought that you were injured. I am so glad you are safe," she whispered as she cried in his arms.
Adonis smiled.
"I am here for you Miya. Always was and always will be."
As Adonis was caressing her, he felt the injury on Miya's back. Her clothes were almost burned to ashes. As he realized the state she was reduced to all he felt was fury. He clenched his jaw as he tried his best to hold back his anger in such a romantic moment. He wanted to kill those who harmed Miya. But…
"Miya is safe. I should prioritize escaping over fighting."
The series of events that had transpired today had caused Adonis to think differently than normal. He was mostly a short-tempered guy but the threat of the Gods was causing him to think with a cool mind. He cannot afford to lose anything.
His eyes squinted as he tried to calm down his shaking hands. His hands shook with anger.
There were only two goals that Adonis had from now on. The first and the most important was to ensure the safety of those he loves. The second being increasing his strength to rebel against the Gods.
'If I enter into a battle with them now, Miya might get into danger.' Adonis thought.
Adonis wasn't sure who was after them at the moment. But if it was someone strong Adonis would not only lose his own life in a pointless battle but also Miya's due to his temper.
"Miya let's run away. We need to move before they find us." Adonis whispered in Miya's ears who laid in his arms.
Miya nodded as she wiped off her tears. She had made the resolve to stand strong with Adonis at all times. How could she chicken out now?
Holding onto each other's hands they ran as fast as they could.
"Ha Ha Ha," the sound of shrill laughter began all of a sudden. The witches were after the duo. Adonis turned around only to find them flying towards them on their brooms.
"Witches."
Adonis gritted his teeth. But he couldn't deny that the fact that the situation could have been worse. Witches are forces that he could at least wend off if the numbers were not too high.
One of the witches cast her spell; Adonis, who had never fought them before, couldn't gauge its arrival. Hell, he didn't even know about the spells. But the same wasn't true for his partner.
"Adonis watch out!" Miya screamed as she pushed Adonis away, narrowly dodging the shot herself.
Adonis tumbled but was quick to regain his balance. Watching Miya dodge the shot by a thread's distance his pupils shook. She could have got injured because of his ignorance!
"Damn, do something Adonis!" Adonis shouted at himself for his inactions.
The witches weren't something that he couldn't fight. As such running away would only exhaust the two of them as the witches kept firing at them from their comfy brooms. The duo would be attacked over and over again making them weak until finally Adonis is cornered.
The reality of the situation dawned upon Adonis as his pupils shook.
*swish*
His twin-blade resurfaced.
"Miya! We need to fight back," Adonis screamed as sweat poured from his forehead. He hadn't fought any witches before just like Miya. But the anger in his hand was erupting like a volcano.
Miya nodded, mostly reliant on his command. Adonis knew more about hunting than her anyway. And today they were out to hunt witches.
Adonis gritted his teeth as he swung his blade. Placing the two blades on a witch's two shoulders he swiped his blades on her neck as if wiping the dust on them using her body.
*Swish*
Blood spurted over as the witch fell off from her broom.
"Kya!" Miya screamed as the dead body of the witch fell close to her legs. She couldn't feel it as much when the adrenaline was running through her body. But now that she had calmed down she realized the reality of the situation.
It was a nauseating experience. Glancing at the dead body of the witch she puked. She was like a child. The sight of a humanoid dead body was too much for the poor girl.
*Retching noises*
Miya could only hold onto her stomach as she couldn't control the biological reaction she was having to the death of a person. Even she had killed some witches before, even though she was reluctant. But watching the dead body up close? That was a different matter.
