The witches fell from the sky as Adonis killed them one by one. Soon enough all the witches would follow the same fate. At least that was what Miya thought.
Neither Adonis nor Miya had any powers of flight. That was why fighting the witches was proving harder for them than usual.
"More magic dammit! Come down and fight if you have the guts!"
Fireballs were hurled at Adonis. But Adonis danced in the air and slashed through them, dissipating them with his force alone.
There was a cool down time after every cast for every witch. At least that was what it seemed. But with so many witches firing together, it almost felt like an endless charge of fire.
The lands below were scorched, the trees around were lit up. Both the witches and Adonis were finding it hard to breathe as they were getting more and more exhausted with every cast of fire. The witches were consuming their magical energy to cast, while Adonis consumed his stamina to dodge them.
"Adonis!" Miya screamed as she blocked off a fireball coming from Adonis's blind spot. The witches were great in number and it was hard to dodge attacks from all directions.
Miya joined the battle as well. They began looking for each other's backs. Swinging her axe just like before she slashed apart the brooms and bodies of the witches.
"I have to do this!" Miya whispered.
Miya was reluctant before and couldn't fight to see all the blood. Her nature wasn't the one that a hunter should have. But the reality of the situation forced her to do so.
As more and more time passed, she got more used to the nauseating feeling and the smell of blood making her hunt them more efficiently.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" Adonis stomped on the skull of a witch making her scream for her life. He glared at the others at the same time as if to show them what their place was.
*Crack* *Crack*
The witch's skull cracked under his feet as her gray matter spilled out. The witches had more or less the same biology as humans making them almost akin to them. But Adonis faced no nausea from the cruelty he just showed.
"Fuck you, witches!"
Had it been any other day, Adonis would have puked from the sight of blood just like Miya did. But not today. Unlike Miya who was driven by her resolve to fight. Adonis was driven by his anger.
*Groan*
Adonis roared like a lion. His voice resounded through the mountain woods striking fear in the witches' hearts.
The witches flinched as they backed off doing what their instincts told them. They were instructed to fight with the 'two' to their death so that 'she' can arrive after the battle, but they now felt reluctant to do so.
All of them were on a suicidal mission but Adonis wasn't just killing them. He was giving them painful deaths. Anger oozing out from every slash that he made.
"Ha!" He screamed as he ran straight towards the fireballs barging at them with no care for the injuries.
The anger that he felt was making his body create more and more adrenaline. His pain receptors had numbed. He had failed to gauge his surroundings to look for more dangers. He had forgotten the fact that backup might arrive for the witches.
"Adonis!" Miya cried as she watched him charging at the fire and killing the witches. He didn't come out unscathed out of the fire either. His shirt had disappeared and his body had charred at several places.
But Adonis paid no heed to Miya's cries. All he wanted was to kill. Anger had made him blind to his faults and also to Miya's cries.
Never had before in his life Adonis had killed a human. But today, Adonis was feeling numb to the feeling of killing. For he knew he was bound to kill many more in the future. He had prepared his heart for the day.
*Thud*
The dead bodies of witches fell one after the other from the sky. Whoever even dared to come down was slashed apart by Adonis's blade. There was indeed a limit to how high their brooms could take them and Adonis could leap that far. Adonis was probably the worst match for them.
Witches were but a higher form of the humans. All of them had around 5 - 10% Primordial Blood Concentration. Indeed that was what allowed them to fly and shoot fire.
But in the face of Adonis who had much higher primordial blood concentration than them, they were like buzzing mosquitoes. Easy for him to kill. All they had were that they were greater in number letting them get a few hits on him.
Adonis couldn't fly for sure, thanks to his lack of knowledge in witchcraft. But he was in a class of his own.
*Crackle* *Crackle*
The woods burned in fire dawning the entire plains in an orange glow. While Adonis glowed in a tinge of red. With the crimson witch, blood spilled all over his body. He could cultivate it but he knew doing so would bring little to no good.
The witches were being pushed back. Adonis was killing them all!
But was that all? Adonis's strength was increasing albeit by very little amount every minute. There was a little bit of divine blood left in his body that his body was absorbing every minute to make up for the danger that presented in front of him. Indeed it was the same blood he had received from 'her'.
"Ha… Ha," with the twin blades in his hand, his muscular chest heaved up and down as he gazed upon the scenery that he had painted.
