Chapter 8

After the café we left and walked up and down this downtown strip. Jacob seemed nervous but I tried to keep my cool. I mean he was getting checked out by every girl we passed. Finally getting tired of it I grabbed his hand and interlaced our fingers when three more girls walked by. They glared at me but I just smiled as I felt the tingles travel up my arm.

Jacob tightened his fingers causing me to blush. He shoved his other hand in his pocket as we continued to walk. I was starting to feel like a normal couple but of course that didn't last long. Before I knew it Jacob pulled me down an alley. "Jacob what-what are you doing?"

I started to feel scared looking down the alley but his face seemed angry as he said, "I smelled a rogue wolf. I need to call the pack." He pulled a cell phone out of his pocket, dialed a number and quickly said, "I've caught scent of a rogue in downtown Camrey. Bring the pack." He hung up and pulled me closer, "No matter what stay as close to me as you can."

"Jacob." I tried to hide the fear but it didn't work. He turned quickly and kissed me leaving me hot and gasping for air.

"It'll be fine. I won't let them hurt you."

Sadly though I wasn't scared for me but for him. Like he said he doesn't have a luna so his alpha is running on half battery. What should I do? Someone help us.

Jacob had led me through a maze of alleys before I could finally see his car. I let out a breathe feeling safer already. Unfortunately that didn't last long as Jacob stopped in front of me and tensed. In front of him stand three guys. All are dressed in dirty jeans and ripped t-shirts. They looked calmly at Jacob then at me. When they saw me they smiled, "Oh alpha you should have marked her as yours already."

Jacob pulled me further behind him and growled at the lead wolf, "That's none of your business rogue."

The guys expression changed to something I'd never seen before. "I guess we could have some fun with her, and make you watch."

Jacob full out growled at them now. He was shaking and trying hard to control his anger. "Leave here now otherwise I will have no choice but to kill you."

They laughed and started to walk toward us. They hadn't taken three steps before I felt someone else's hands on me. I yelped and jumped thinking it was one of their buddies. I was pretty surprised to hear Ethan's voice in my ear. "Don't worry Ana. I'm here to help."

I turned quickly to see Ethan focused on the wolves in front of Jacob. "Ethan what are you doing here?"

He glanced down at me long enough for me to see the worry in his eyes, "Jacob's not the only one who can sense the rogues. They crossed my land and I followed their scent here."

Jacob pushed me back into Ethan, "Watch her for me in case one of them gets past me."

Before I could stop him Jacob changed into a huge black wolf. He lunged toward the rogues and a bloody battle ensued. Jacob caught them off guard so one of them went down easily but by the time he was done with the first one the other two had managed to change into wolves too. The one who had been quiet attacked first as the other one circled around toward Ethan and me. Jacob dodged the wolf and got him on his hind leg.

Before he could take that wolf out the other one had reached Ethan and me. Ethan pushed me behind him and punched the wolf just as he jumped toward us. The wolf flew back a few feet before maneuvering to land on his paws. He lunged again this time going after Ethan's legs. Ethan jumped over him avoiding the attack but leaving the wolf less than two feet in front of me.

He stepped forward snapping at my legs but I jumped back as far as was possible for me. Ethan hadn't made it back to me yet and the wolf was getting close pretty fast so I did what my body told me to do and ran. I ran down the alley and took a sharp right with the wolf right on me.

I went left and right and left and right as many times as I could but eventually ended up at a dead end. I could almost see the smile on his face at his cornered prey. I started to hyperventilate as he quickly lunged at me but I jumped to my right barely dodging him. He quickly recovered but before he could bite me he yelped and was pulled away from me. I looked past him at the black wolf who now had his hind leg in his mouth pulling him away from me.

With a quick turn of his neck I heard a snap as the wolves leg broke. He growled and caught my arm in his mouth pulling me along with him. Jacob released his leg and I screamed out in pain as the wolf's teeth cut into the skin of my arm. Ethan was suddenly there pulling his jaws open to release my arm and I quickly pulled it out.

Ethan picked me up moving me away from the wolf. Jacob tore him up pretty good once I was out of the way. Before managing to get his mouth around the rogue's neck and snapping it. He stood over his kill for a minute before coming over to me. He sniffed my arm and I hugged his head. "I'll be fine. Thank you."

He licked my cheek lightly before changing back to his normal self. "Ethan take her to your doctor. I'll be at your house soon. I have to help my pack clean up this mess." He turned to me, "I'm sorry Ana. I meant to protect you from all this and instead you got hurt."

Ethan set me down and I automatically stood on my tip toes to connect my lips with Jacob's. After that Ethan carried me to his car with his awesome super speed.

I woke to someone talking in my room. Slowly opening my eyes I saw Jacob and Ethan sitting in the chairs by my tv. Ethan was the first to notice I was up and they were both by my bed pretty quickly. "How you feeling?"

I did a quick check over evaluating how I felt but smiled, "I feel fine. My arm hurts a bit but that's it."

Jacob's face lost all it's color as he looked at me, "Ana you're really pale and have been out for four days. There's no way you feel fine. Be honest and stop sugar coating things."

Ethan gave him a look clearly saying to shut up, "What he means is you can be honest with us about how you truly feel. We're both here for you."

I blushed clearly caught in my small fib, "Ok fine. I feel hungry, my lungs hurt like I ran a marathon but my arm tingles. Happy?"

They both nodded but Ethan said, "Well I'll go down stairs and make you something to eat. I'll be back in a minute."

He kissed my forehead and disappeared leaving me alone with Jacob. He was quiet just standing beside my bed with his head hanging so that his hair covered his eyes. I just sat there fiddling with the covers on me. After a few minutes of awkward silence I went to say something.

I never got my chance because Jacob engulfed me in a hug and said, "I was so scared Ana, I thought I was going to loose you. I-I can't live without you. I don't want to ever feel like that again. Please Ana. Please choose."

I put my unhurt right hand around him, "Jacob I-"

"Don't tell me no, anything but that. Please Ana. I will do anything it takes to keep you. I'll even deal with Ethan feeding off you until he finds a new woman. Just be my Luna. Just be mine."

I honestly had no clue what to say. What do you say at a time like this. My heart ached, not metaphorically, my heart actually hurts. The tightness in my chest kept increasing until he pulled back and kissed me with such intensity that it sent chills down my back. His right hand is on my left cheek as he continues to kiss me.

When he pulled back I was super breathless but wanting way more. He put his forehead to mine and said, "Please think about it."

He got up and left just as Ethan entered the room with a plate full of food. Ethan caught Jacob's arm and something exchanged between them. I saw Ethan's sorry gaze lock with Jacob's mixed one. But Jacob looked at me once more before leaving shutting the door behind him.

Ethan sat down on the edge of my bed handing me the plate. "Here I made you some waffles with OJ to replenish your blood. Even though the doc gave you some blood transfusions while you were out I want to make sure you're ok."

"What are you not telling me Ethan?"

He looked guilty but closed his eyes for a second before saying, "They found me another host, another girl."

My eyes widened, "Isn't that a good thing?"

His eyes were so soft and loving that I had to look away and ended up staring at my waffles, "Yeah it's a good thing but that means I'll loose you. I don't want to loose you. Ana I've fallen for you."

My heart skipped a beat but I wouldn't admit it to him, "How do you know if you do or don't like her if you don't go? Maybe you'll have an amazing connection with her. You don't know unless you try. And I won't be far away remember?"

He smiled, "I remember. Ana-" I looked up at him, "Come with me. Come with me to get her. Please?"

My eyebrows shot up, "Why would you want me to go with you?"

He blushed, "Well because I might need help."

I looked around the room, "When are we leaving?"

His whole face lit up a bit more, "We leave as soon as you're ok enough to travel."

"No we leave tomorrow. I know what it's like in those camps they put you in. I don't want her staying there too long."

He nodded, "I'll call Jacob. He should know. I guess we'll also start moving your stuff there too."

Nodding I agreed with him but something hit me suddenly, "Ethan when's the last time you fed?"

He looked at me thoughtfully, "Well I guess it has been a while."

I moved my plate, appetite completely gone, and moved my hair from my neck. He scooted closer and kissed my neck and then slowly pierced it. I felt light headed but knew he needed this. When he was done he licked the bite to help it heal and leaned back. "Ok let's call Jacob."

He pulled his phone out of his pocket and dialed a number. He set it on my knee putting it on speaker. "Hello. What's wrong? Is Ana hurt?"

I giggled finding it cute that he's worried about me. Ethan smiled, "No Jacob she's fine but we need you to come by the house ASAP."

Jacob sighed on the phone. "Yeah sure I'll be there in about ten minutes."

Ethan hung up and we started packing. Well he packed as I told him where to put stuff. We had all my bathroom stuff packed and most of my closet when Jacob showed up in my room. "What the hell is going on here?"

Ethan and me stepped out of the closet and I saw the pain evident on his face. "Are you guys going somewhere?"

Ethan smiled, "Calm down and please sit down." Jacob growled at Ethan, "Ok fine be an alpha and stand. Well we have some news to tell you."

Jacob stayed quiet waiting for us to talk. His hands are clenched at his sides as he looked between Ethan and me, "They found me another host. We're going to go get her tomorrow morning."

Jacob's hands unclenched as he relaxed a bit. But he still looked angry, "Jacob," I stood up and stepped toward him but he stood still clearly hurting, "I'm packing because I'm not staying here. I'm moving to the pack house."

It took a while to sink in and when it did his face broke out into a huge smile and he picked me up and spun me around, "So you'll be my Luna?"
