Chapter 6: No Need to Pretend Anymore

He grunted heavily, "If you could have given me a child, it would have happened long ago. You've been with Ally Berg for so many years and have nothing to show for it. Now there's a child, and you need to break up with Ally right away and treat Hallie and the child in her belly properly."

"Grandfather, you want me to break up with Ally and get together with her? I don't even know who she is, I'm not just a tool for having children!"

"Ha..." Logan Collins' face tightened and his voice dropped several notches, "If you don't want to be my tool for the Collins family, there are plenty who do. Are you sure you want to give this opportunity away to someone else?"

Dylan Collins fell silent, his eyes dark and inscrutable.

"Grandfather, would you really threaten me with my inheritance over a child?" Dylan Collins looked at Logan Collins in disbelief.

"The Collins family has always valued blood lineage. I'm doing this for our family's lineage! When I was your age, I already had kids old enough to run errands. Now look at you, incapable of fathering a child despite your age. Do you know how many pairs of eyes are vying for your position? And you're still fooling around with Ally Berg. With your performance, you expect to inherit the Collins family's status? Our line has carried on for three generations, I refuse to let it end with you! Have you forgotten how your uncle laughed at me, mocking me for having no one to succeed me?"

With a history reaching three hundred years back, the Collins family, a prominent family indeed, has always placed great emphasis on their blood lineage. Because Logan only had one son and one grandson, he had long been ridiculed by others. One could argue this was the only blot in his otherwise successful career in the commercial world.

Logan's expression became resolute, his voice bearing no sign of jest, "If you dare to get rid of this child, I will replace you immediately!"

"You..."

Meanwhile, Dylan Collins' face also darkened.

His rose-colored lips pursed tightly, jaw clenched to the extreme.

Yet, Logan Collins held his tea cup from the table, glanced at his grandson, and took a slow sip, his tone calm and unhurried, "If you don't want this child, Hallie will be my granddaughter. I'll raise her myself!"

"You... you are simply..."

Dylan Collins was speechless, his chest heaving with rage, his gaze fixed on Hallie Morgan, the root cause of his troubles, as if intending to strangle her.

Hallie immediately lowered her head, not daring to meddle in this high-end family dispute. Any single person in this room could make her disappear from Wallam, right?

However, Dylan Collins' next words completely turned Hallie's thoughts, actions, and values on their head.

"Fine, fine, I'll have the baby."

"Really?" Logan Collins was overjoyed.

"Ha, so without my consent, you wouldn't be able to hold onto this child?"

Logan Collins' face relaxed, "Indeed, you're my grandson. Wise decision."

What?

He just agreed to have the baby?

Hallie couldn't believe the sudden turn of events. She hadn't even agreed yet.

Loga Collins' mood visibly lightened. Turning around with a grin, he said, "Ha, Hallie, now carrying my sweet great-grandchild, if you dare to wrong her in any way, you'll answer to me first. Hallie, you have nothing to fear from him. I've got your back. Just focus on your pregnancy."

But she really doesn't want to have a baby...

Speechless, she looked at the old man, as if she had a fish bone stuck in her throat, unable to say a word.

"Dylan Collins."

Dylan Collins, with a frosty look on his face, quickly left the large living room. Hallie hurriedly followed him.

His face, a shade of livid steel, turned towards her, his anger simmering in his voice.

"Now everything has happened as you wanted, are you satisfied?"

How was any of this her fault?

"I didn't even know your grandfather was going to the hospital, I was just suddenly brought here to the mansion."

"You're not a child, are you? Grown up yet not capable of taking the contraception? One month passed before you said you forgot to take it and got pregnant, do you think that's credible?"

"I..."

"Okay, now that my grandfather is backing you, you can stop pretending."

"Ben Myers, take her back to the Collins house."
