CHAPTER 27: Midnight Talk

"You are back!" I woke up instantly.

"Yes, now get up, we are going somewhere," Valek murmured.

"I was snoring?" I asked.

I threw my pillow to the opposite end of my bed and got up. I picked up my sneakers which were lying under my bed and wore those. Then I tied my laces in which I am particularly not skilled at all. And after about a minute's struggle, I finally tied them and stood up. Valek was standing while resting his back to the wall and watching me the whole time.

I knew he was cursing my laziness from the depths of his heart. But I always wore either broken slippers in my teens and sandals when I got old. There was never time to learn to tie shoelaces between that.

"All set?" Valek asked as he got straight and walked towards the window.

"I am not going to jump or slide or anything else from this window ever again," I said.

"Done?"

"Yes."

"I asked Uncle Bael to place a ladder here, don't worry."

"Thanks."
