CHAPTER 49: The Mark

Was he asking too much of me? Or was I just acting a little too cowardly?

"If anything happens, anything at all…"

"It's all on me."

"Ok," I nodded my head and took a quick glance of the scary, old building in which we were about to enter.

Valek led the way and walked towards its entrance door. I looked at him as he got in. I stood there, still looking at the building and inhaling all the horror I felt when I watched it but I had to do it.

I couldn't leave Valek alone in this, because it was the first time he had asked me to do something for him. I should stand alongside him as best friends do and so I had to overcome whatever fear I had in my mind.

I took a deep long breath and went straight inside the building. Beany kept quiet, as if he also sensed the place. The door opened into a medium sized, empty hall. The walls' paint had come off and gotten ruined. The ceilings seemed like they could fall off on us any second.
