Part 2: Chapter 23: The swamps of Fangak

By 12h00 the remaining children and younger people received an injection. Sonia's head pounded by the time she sat in the nearest chair. The heat, lack of sleep and food made her weak. She could sleep for days. Taking an aspirin she dropped her forehead against the cool fridge.

Finally, her tiredness won.

For a long time, Tau watched her sleeping form. His heart melted. How could he be angry with her after what she had done? Through the following hours she never complained, never took care of herself, nor ate. People looked at her with admiration. She had become more than just a healer. In their eyes she had become an angel … an angel he cared for.

Now it was time that someone took care of her.

Unaware of Tau's thoughts a pair of muscular arms carried Sonia back to her hut. His pounding heart was the only giveaway of his growing feelings, feelings he shielded from her and the rest of the camp.
