Part 2: Chapter 35: An act of faith

July 2019, Iraqi desert.

Curt was in his office when Sonia came to mind. It had been weeks since he banished her and kept at it. The impulse to pray stopped him cold. What was she facing?

Why this constant need to pray?

Doug stood aside as Phillip walked in and leaned against the table.

"You look pale," Phillip said.

"Close the door, Doug," Curt said.

"What I tell you two today will not leave this office."

"Agreed." Both nodded.

"I met a woman in Malta." He began and told them about the trip.

"Although the Lord said I should call it off, he keeps on advising me to pray for her. I don't understand it." He sat down and took a sip directly from the bottle. "She taught me Psalm 91, and from that day I pray it every day over her." Both men listened with no interruptions. "God does not release me from this: a persisting feeling that becomes stronger. Can you explain it to me?"

"Do you know where she lives?"
