Re:born: Arc 1 : the thife meet the sky



He pulled the trigger and a bang sounded in the room , closing his eyes Matheo  thought it was the end of him , but then he didn't feel any pain and the cries of Raphael made him open his eyes , to see that he was holding his hand that previously held the gun,  groaning in pain, and the gun fell to the ground .

" Huh?" He asked in confusion .

The  He then looked behind him to find sayuri was holding a gun , the little smoke that comes out of it ,  Indicates that she was the one who shot the bullet that disarmed Raphael  , she saved him again .

Taking the chance that the other men are still in daze, Shamel grabbed Matheo and dashed toward the back door .

Following sayuri from behind as she shot two other people who were blocking the entrance of the  back door on their legs and shamel punished one of them making him stumble to the ground and used his mosquitos for the other two who were with Raphael and attempted to  attack them .

" Follow them !!" Raphael ordered his man as he was still in pain from before and cursing himself for letting his guard down , cursing the kid .

Shamel helped Matheo to the car after making sure that Sayuri was inside ,  he went to the passenger seat and he drove the car away , the other men were on their tails .

" Damn it, how did they find us? " Matheo asked in frustration, not knowing why they seemed to find his whereabouts so easily .

But then  Sayuri suddenly grabbed his jacket and searched his pocket. She finally found something as she showed it up to the two of them. It was a small piece of metal no longer than 5mm. It was glowing with a red color .

" That's a tracker... "the two said in alarm, looking at the small device that the little kid found ,Then Sayuri opened the window and threw it out .

" Now we know why they found us, what's now ?" Shamel's asked, clearly annoyed by their current situation .

" First we go to London , I already booked three tickets "Sayuri said after a while  as she went through her small computer  not glancing at their funny reactions.

But the two didn't disagree with her since they were now targeted by the Argento Mafia  so it's  for the best to leave  the country now .

" I have a feeling that they  already know about the key " said Sayuri surprising the two .

" Your intuition ?" Shamel asks , earning a nod from the little girl as she continues explaining her theory.

" , after all the diary was kept with them for a long time now , I guess they found someone to translate it  But fortunately they didn't finish their job  some complications happen I looked for it and I found that the one who found the diary is an archaeologist goes by the name

Yefrem lebdev but there is something weird after a year from  finding the diary he disappeared , I don't think this is a conscience this has to do with the Argento famiglia "

" They kidnapped him ?"

" High chance yes , and beside studied    cryptography  so he  knew how to decode it , so either he is dead right now or just being held captive and since they are looking to retrieve the diary from us there are two scenarios,  either they didn't finish translating it or Mr Yefrem  refused to do that stoping half way   , and if it is true then luck is in our side and so  we are the only who knows about it's localisation for now,  they just want to stop us from knowing what's inside of it , eliminate any threats,  the worst scenario there are someone who got his hand on the diary before Mr Yefrem or even the Argento family and was able to decode it.

" and another thing  they were desperately looking for you to retrieve it back  They find this diary valuable which means , they will do anything to get it back  and it will be a matter of time to realise that we were know the information inside of it  ."

But she still doesn't know if they were after the money or the weapon she hopes it will be the former .

" So they will be there on the day of  auction , be on guard" she warned the two.

" this day is getting better and better "said  Matheo sarcastically ,looking out the window .

" Don't worry the tickets are by fake names I also booked three other tickets with our names , that will throw them of our scents , all is left is to disguised as the fake identities I made Which will be easy since we have a mist flame user with us "

The two sighed in relief .

" How old are you again ?" Mathéo muttered in disbelief.

" We have to hurry up tho ,after we don't want  them to catch up to us " said sayuri ignoring his questions , and with that they speed up to the airport .

(6th July 1998 , Shamel's appartement , Sicile , Italy )

" Mr Raphael we lost them " one of the men reported to Raphael .

" What did you say !!! You are all useless all useless " Raphael shouted in anger kicking the table .

But then a tall  man probably in his late twenties  entered the room wearing an elegant gray suit , it was hard to not notice his silver hair and piercing yellow eyes , he

Raphael didn't notice him , busy scolding the man from before , well until he spoke.

" So you lost him again Raphael " the man stated observing the room .

" B-boss ..." Raphael instantly went pale recognizing the voice , sweat started powering from his temples and he started shaking slightly .

Which proves the fear he holds for this man standing ahead of him .

"I-i can explain h-he ..." he was about to explain the situation but the fear prevented him from speaking.

The other just stayed silent as he marched to the table which was the one where Sayuri worked before on decoding the diary .

"  They burned the diary,  " the man stated  in a monotone voice, looking at the diary in the metal bucket as it was now just ashes .

As he noticed a piece of paper on the ground under the table he bent down and picked it up after reading what it contained , a smirk slipped to his mouth .

" Hmm Who else was with him ? " The man turned back to the shaking Man and asked with a low voice that sent shivers to the others who were in the room .

" T-trident Shamel and a kid, " the man replied, shuttering .

" The report said the kid shot some of your men and was able to disarm you. Is that true? "he said with calculating eyes as he put his hand under his chin looking at the man's left hand. It was bandaged because of the injury he got from sayuri .

The other nodded furiously at that, though he hated to admit that he was defeated by a mere girl .

" Oh this is getting interesting .." he closed his eyes, smirking .

Reopening them again as he finally put the pieces together , he ordered the man standing in front of him .

" Capture the kid I want her alive "

" B-but sir ..." The other was about to protest but then seeing his boss's eyes held him back as he gulped .

" Am I clear? '' the man said in a calm and dominating voice .

" Yes sir, " the other replied, bowing his head .

With that the man headed toward the door and left the apartment entering a limousine that parked outside .

(13th July 1998  , park  ,london. )

It's been a week since the two adults and Sayuri arrived in London . They are now staying in a hotel planning on how to get the necklace before the auction happened .

Mathéo and Shamel are outside preparing for the heist .

As for sayuri, she is now in the park near the hotel reading her book about the theories of weapons back in the 19 th  and comparing  of what she know in the diary and the book, and  of course it wasn't any help the diary didn't mention anything on how to destroy the weapon it just mentioned the basics of it working and there is a drawing of it important parts but it's no use .

She needs to see the original plan of the weapon , her last hope is that the professor who died left some of his  research behind him , she will start with digging into him later .

She was really focused on the book and her thoughts   that she didn't notice two men  sitting on the same bench she is on .

The first one was wearing a blue jacket and red tie , white pants his hair combed back .

As for the other one  ,he wore a black suite and light shirt and a grey  broad-brimmed black-banded fedora .

" Isn't that book a bit advanced for you Little lady " the man in a blue jacket said in curiosity.

" And what does it have to do with you Mister " she replied with a perfect English accent , her eyes not leaving the book .

" Aren't you a rude one? " he said with a strained smile, a tick mark appearing on his temples.

" Leave the kid alone lupin " the man beside him said  .

" Lupin ?" Sayuri  finally lifted her head up after hearing the name and noticing a familiar face .

' don't tell me this guy is ...' she thought .

"I'm Lupin Sansei the greatest thief !!" He introduced himself with an air of pride .

' of course he will be here, and this is how  our planes go out the window   ' she thought groaning loudly .

She recognised him as Lupin the third a world wide known  gentleman thief  and the grandson of Arsene lupin.

' and for sure  he is here for the necklace ,but  does he know about the safe ?' she asked herself mentally .

The two men  looked confused at her reaction but before they voiced their thoughts three black cars parked in front of them and men wearing black suits came out with guns , led by Raphael .

' oh c'mon you got to be kidding me ' sayuri sighed loudly.

" What do we have here Jigen Daisuke and Lupin the third , " Raphael said, smirking slightly .

' oh how I would like to wipe that smirk from his face ' sayuri thought, staring blankly at him .

" Oya isn't it Raphael , what brings you here on this nice  day ?" Lupin asked with a fake  cheerfulness  not bothered by the fact that they were surrounded and with just one order they can  drop dead .

' He know  him  ? and of course he knows about the  safe  are the stuff that held for the auction aren't interesting for him , based on what she read about him  and seeing that his now Raphael there is no doubt he is after the necklace too and he knew about the safe' she thought, narrowing her eyes .

" I'm not here for you , just give me the

kid " Rahapel said clearly out of patience .

' oh so they figured it out , that's bad I should have destroyed that paper too , it contains the basics I used to decode the diary , they knew I was able to decode , but won't they suspect shamel first since he is the adult why me tho ? '

Sayuri thought,  cursing herself from leaving such evidence behind her , and wondering if they knew that she is the one who  decoded it or were they planning to use her as a hostage to get to Shamel and Matheo but she was sure it was the former they knew it's her , the paper prove it all and her handwriting.

" Eh this kid ?" Lupin said with a dump expression looking between Raphael and sayuri ." What do you want from her ?" .

" No of your business , just hand the kid lupin and everyone go in their ways " .

' Well let's find a way to get outta here , they said capture the kid so they obviously want me alive that makes things easier for me ' she was  looking  for an opening and planning on how to get away .

But then Her eyes widened hearing what Lupin said next .

" Sorry pal but ain't handing her " lupin said smirking and the other lowered his fedora ready to take his  gun at any moment.

' Did this guy lose  his mind? The man clearly said that he would let him leave if he handed me over and we just met for god sake. Is he perhaps pitying  me? 'she concluded not really fond of this situation .

" Then you didn't give me any choice , get them " Raphael ordered his men .

Sayuri was about to get ready to defend herself when suddenly she felt someone grab her lifting her up , letting a small yelp , she looked up to see Lupin grinning at her then he turned to his partner.

" Jigen "just as he said his name , Jigen with three shots was able to disarm the three men in black ,making an  opening for them and sayuri was in awe all of that happened  in seconds  after all no one can do that easily with a gun , the rumors didn't lie at all Jigen Daisuke is the best gun man out there .

with that Jigen and Lupin who was holding Sayuri dashed toward the street looking for their vehicle dodging the bullets that came flying at them .

Then they arrived near a yellow 1957 Fiat 500 , Sayuri was dumbfounded .

' are they planning to escape on this ?' she thought to herself , how this small car that has a low power engine will survive this chase.

She quickly came out of her thoughts as Lupin put her on the passenger seat saying with a smirk drawn on his face

" You better hold up , this is gonna be a long ride " .

' yeah I should have stayed at the hotel room  ' she thought , preparing herself for what was to come .

(13th July 1998 , London )

Surprisingly Lupin was able to get rid of their chasers in a matter of time. Apparently they have a spare engine  in the back of the car .

They are now sitting in the car with an awkward silence and sayuri was looking at the sky like it was the most interesting thing at the moment .

" So young lady can you _" lupin was the first to break the silence as he was about to ask little sayuri but stopped halfway by the ringtone of her phone .

Sayuri took her phone from her jeans pocket , Shamel was the caller , she clicked on the button accepting the call .

" Hello ?" She greeted simply , then came the worried voice of Shamel asking her about her whereabouts .

" I'm fine , they found me but I was able to escape,  " she said in Italian , glancing at Jigen and Lupin .

She doesn't want to tell the two  about Lupin knowing Shamel will freak out and begin searching for her which wasn't good if they get caught by the Argento famiglia it will be game over for them and while they were running she thought of  a plan on how to get to the necklace without involving Shamel and Matheo .

" Change of planes , I found a way to get to it so stay low for now " she said to the other side of the line , getting curious eyes from the two in the car After convening  shamel she would be fine  she  hung up the phone, and once again silence fell again on the car .

After a while she coughed, clearing her throat , and turned to Lupin .

" Mr Lupin, let's make a deal, " she said to him .

"Eh?" The two looked at her in confusion .

" You are here in London to steal Duchess Katerina's necklace, am I  right ?" The  two tensed after hearing what Sayuri said .

" And I assume since you are familiar with the man before that you know about the diary and the safe ?"

" You know a lot for a kid ,  that explains why that Rapahel guy  was bent on chasing you huh" Jigen said, lighting up a cigarette .

" So you know where the diary is ?" Lupin asked, smiling cheekily .

" Oh yeah but unfortunately or fortunately based on how you see the situation,  I burned it " Sayuri blurted.

" You did what ??" Jigen shouted in disbelief , then he looked to his partner to see his unusual reaction , he looked calm with a serious face .

though sayuri can see the relief in his eyes even if it went fast as it came .

With  that sayuri proved her theory

right .

" So you are aware about   'the other' thing that   the diary leads to " She said meeting Lupin's eyes .

" What is she talking about lupin ? " Jigen asked his partner as he was out of the loop , looking at the two who were in a stare contest .

Then Lupin sighed and began explaining to his partner about the diary and what other things it holds .

" Wait, what??,   when were you planning to tell me all this exactly ?" Jigen asked Lupin, still processing the information.

Sayuri was curious as to how he knows , is her second possibility is true .

" And now as she  burned the diary we can't reach to the safe ahh the billion dollar is gone " lupin said leaning back on his seat mimicking a small explosion in his hand and sighing in distress , even if he was glad that no one will know about the weapon since the mysterious little girl burned it  , but even so a billion dollars is gone out of his reach which he was close too before , he was going to steal the diary from the Argento family after stealing the necklace , but it's all useless now or as he thought at that moment.

After a while the realization  finally hit him. Why are they chasing the girl after all they know it was burned they went to capture her and that book earlier ? unless if .

He then grinned madly ,Jigen  seeing his partner's change of mood confused him greatly , what can make him grin like this they just lost the last lead for a billion dollar.

Suddenly lupin sat up and looked at sayuri

" You know where the safe is, don't you, you were able to decode what it was inside, that's how you also  know about the weapon, " he said with a smirk.

Jigen's eyes widened at that .

" You are not bad, " Sayuri said Impressed with  his deduction ability .

" Yeah you are right I memorized the information the diary held before I burned it , and that's why they are after me. They knew I had the information, " Sayuri replied, hearing that Lupin shouted in delight .

" That's why I want to make a deal with you , I will show you where it is hidden in exchange you will help me destroy the weapon " she said to him .

" And why should I help you , after all there are other methods of extracting information from you " lupin said grinning evilly ,  thought he didn't mean it , he was just trying to tease her and see her reaction , this kid really attonishe him , after all it's not everyday you see a kid who is not shaken by gun fights and her speech is beyond her age , he can tell she is genius.

" Nice try Mr  Lupin , I know you are not that kind of person seeing that you just saved me back then , so do we have a deal or not ?" Sayuri asked again .

" You are no fun at all , fine you got one " said Lupin, lifting his hands up in surrender and leaning back on his seat , and Sayuri smiled at that .

" We still didn't catch  your name little girl ?"lupin asked , he wanted to look into her information , he need her name to start .

" Sayuri kumori " she introduced herself.

"  aren't   you Italian  ?" Jigen asked suddenly in wonder since the girl spoke English like a native , and she even spoke perfect  Italian later on her phone and now her name is in Japanese.

" A half actually " she replied to him and again silence in the car ,everyone in his own thoughts .

" So how you were planning to get to  the necklace?" She asked lupin tilting her head .

" You will know soon hehe, " Lupin replied, rubbing his hand together .
