Adapting And Adjusting

I left once my inventory was filled as much as I could in the midst of the chaos. My next stop was the junkyard. The main reason I wanted to go there was to save on materials so I didn't have to burden myself with using only magic to make golems. The place was deserted.

That only made things easier for me since by the time I got there, my inventory skill already went up a rank and the space doubled. There were a ton of things made out of various metals lying around all over the place, lots of stone here and there, and even a bunch of wood. I ransacked the whole place as much as I could. I barely put a dent in the place by the time my inventory was full though. I would need to come back here and hope that it didn't get touched too much once my inventory upgraded again, or when I ran out of materials to use. Once I got out of the junkyard, I had four hours left.

I went back home and set my computer and laptop to download any books I could find on science, engineering, programming, and anything else that I could utilize to make better golems. One thing that the golemancy skill fails to mention, is that I need in-depth knowledge on what I'm trying to make, unless I want a very basic golem, like the stone ones I made before.

While my computer and laptop were downloading everything, I made five more golems out of wood I had in my inventory with the focus for building. They had building tools made out of iron and I sent them outside to build a wall around my house with the stone I had in my inventory. I couldn't make iron golems yet, so I made four more stone golems, two with bows, one with knives, and one with a sword and shield. I ran out of stone faster than I thought I would so I made three more stops at the junkyard before there were only 30 minutes left.

A thing I discovered about my golems is that they follow basic commands, and it can't get very complex unless they were my builder golems, but even in that case, I can't have them build anything complex. I made three more builder golems out of wood and two more stone golems with weapons. The wall was 1/4th of the way done, which is fine since the land I own goes as far as a football field. I have a smaller wall around my house and a medieval looking gate made out of metal.

When the timer hit zero, there was no warning or system message, things just happened. A dungeon appeared down the road from my house. It was in the middle of a road, it looked like a cave just rose from the ground. Green creatures that looked like goblins started to appear from the entrance of the dungeon. I had my stone golems stand guard and at the ready since the goblins were charging towards this direction. I rushed back inside and started making more golems out of wood to help with the fight. They would be weaker than the stone ones, but every little bit helps. I had the builder golems come inside my house so they hopefully wouldn't get destroyed.

The sound of swords clashing, bows firing, and monster roars was raging outside. It got to a point that as soon as I finished one golem, I sent it out to join the fray before I started making another. I stopped paying attention to the time after the third hour. It got to a point where I started making stone golems out of magic. I started crying in fear when I was struggling to make golems after a certain point since the sounds of clashing only quieted down slightly, but was still going on. Only when the sun started to rise did the fighting stop and I stepped outside to see the absolute carnage that was outside the walls of my home. Goblin corpses littered the grass around my property and the road just outside it, along with large amounts of broken stone and wood. I breathed a sigh of relief while also being fearful for the future when I realized that only three of my golems survived. The first spear golem I made, a sword golem, and a bow golem.

From what the system showed me, they ranked up twice and looked noticeably different. The spear golem looked like an androgynous human with no face, the sword golem looked the same, and the bow golem looked more elf-like with long, pointed ears. If this is how things were starting out, then I fear for anyone else that had a dungeon spawn near them. The dungeon was still there too, there just aren't any monsters coming out of it. I collected all of the broken wood, stone, and goblin corpses in my inventory. I might be able to sell the corpses to the system or have another use for them in the future. I also may or may not have vomited at least 4 times before I finished.

[Congrats Night McLow on preventing the first dungeon attack from ending your life! Due to killing hundreds of goblins, you have gained the title: Goblin Destroyer! Good job, you now have access to the System shop and can enter dungeons by choice. If a dungeon core is destroyed, that dungeon will be removed from that location and another one will be spawned at a random location at a random time. Good Luck and Have fun!]
