Chapter 24 Reece

Oh no, not the counsellor being here. I need to rush.

I walk down the stairs just to find Noelle and Audum standing infront of the main door.

"Uhm, well hello?", I speak and the two immediately look at me.

"Thank goodness you're here, Reece" utters Noelle, "This man won't let me go out of this house", she says pointing out at Audum.

Audum coughs and signals at me to take her away.

"Sure, you'll go back but not before the dinner", I grab her by the shoulder and turn her towards the dinning arena.

"But Reece?- ; I don't let her complete her sentence and keep walking her towards the dinning table.

Audum leaves the house.

I draw out the chair for Noelle and she smiles as she sits down.

"So, how are you here today?" I ask her.

"I have no idea, Audum brought me here and i don't know why he did that".

"Why? Is it necessary to have a friend over only for serious business?" I laugh.

"No" she chuckles along, "Is just that, him and I" she pauses, "we are not friends".

"Oh!"

"Is it more than a friendship?" I tease.

"What?" her pitch rises. "No! It's not the way you think it is."

"We don't talk- I mean we do talk but like it's just weird, I don't even know what I'm saying but that's how it is, too-

"Extraordinary?" I suggest.

"More like 'bizarre'", she replies with confusion scattered over her face.

"I get it", I cut her, get up and signal her to look behind.

"Reece darling", my mother comes towards us, addressing me.

"Your father and I have to go out tonight for some business work, you and your friends" she gives Noelle a dirty gaze and then looks back at me, "can meanwhile enjoy, I suppose" she leaves.

"I'm sorry, Noelle", I apologise to her because I know how cold can my mother's behaviour get.

"No, it's just fine" she passes a weak smile.

"I know she's a bit mean", I put my hands on her hand resting on the table.

"All good" speaks Audum from the behind as he returns. He's completely drenched in sweat and out of his breath. I need to ask him about the counsellor.

"Grab me that jug" he reaches out and I hand him a glass and the jug.

He drinks water and sits on the edge of the sofa with his hands folded as he's pondering something with his gaze stuck to the floor.

"Reece, it's getting way-

"Dark outside", I interrupt him and he realises that Noelle is present here as well.

"Yeah, supposedly I should drop you back now", Audum gets up and takes Noelle along.

What could have possibly gone with the counsellor? With Audum dripped in sweat and him being so short of breath. I just need him to come back and tell me all about it.

Oh sh*t! HOW CAN YOU BE SO STUPID REECE?! I literally brought Noelle to the dinning table and served her nothing. What's good? She'll have her doubts now. DAMMIT!
