curse of Aurora

(Cecilia's pov)

The blue-eyed girl holding my hand didn't blink; her stare was almost killing. Maybe it was only my imagination, but I got startled by purple lightning strokes in her irises. The way I almost jumped out of my hospital bed probably gave her a hint, so she shut her eyelids for quite some time, and gave me a few instants to scrutinize her. Her ash blonde, extremely long, thick, seemingly smooth, beaded hair gave her a barbie girl allure, that her actions were in a total contrast with. I could see she was impulsive, and didn't really give conveniences or popularity more credit than due.

I couldn't let go of her hand, and i soon felt an unbearable electric flow on my palm and the spell seemed to be over. Her hand instantly ran away.

She opened her eyes again, dark blinding light was getting out of them. I had reasons to be creeping out. Enlightened eyes was not common, according to MY DOCTOR.

"Who even are you? I blurted.

_ Shall we talk this over a frappé once you're fine? I wish you a quick and sustainable recovery, huh. See ya !"

I threw up right after.

A few days later, I still wasn't feeling myself. But I managed to spot her on Instagram and arrange a meeting at Dunkin'. I could finally walk without feeling dizzy again, and put confidently one foot in front of the other. When I arrived at the café at 6:00 pm, she was already sitting in a table, a wide grin all over her peachy cheeks. I envied her soft girl beauty, but it wasn't really a good time to have such trivial ideas. I had to figure out why everything was going south, including my own understanding of things.

I sat down next to her, smelt the ravishing scent of fresh magnolias and itchy but soft dandelions that were ornaments to the wooden bench. She, on the other hand, smelt like cherries and lavender, a fragrance carved in my memory forever.

"So, who are you?

_ My name is Aurora Black. Your life is about to change drastically and I could definitely help you to go safely through that.

_ And what do you gain from it?

_ Let's order something, shall we? I'll elaborate my thoughts later on."

We ordered Oreo flavoured frozen lattes, and I managed to shift her back to the conversation.

"So what? Are you eventually gonna tell me?

_ Of course! First, let me apologize, because your sickness right now is completly my blame to take. I arranged it.

_ Excuse me??!!?

_ You heard me right. You had to experience what you experienced to realize some things you wouldn't have realised otherwise.

_ What kind of things?

_ You have iron electrolyte excess in your blood; you are positively charged, can create a magnetic current, and electromagnetic waves, AKA light. Just like me. But with your iron excess, you also have rapid heartbeat, which allows your blood to circulate faster than normal and the information to get to your head before it's bound to: you can see what happens in the future.

_ I'm sorry, what the heck? I just believe I was over anxious because my uni tests were approaching.

_ They weren't. I told someone to convince you they were."

She sipped on her latte as calmly as if she wasn't spitting legends worth screaming fiddlesticks!

"Look, I know it sounds all screwed up. I gave you the data, you analyze it. After all, you're the chick with the 5.0 GPA, not me!"

She silently finished her drink, and got up, her purse hanged to her shoulder. She smiled at me with wonderfully asymmetrical teeth and said :

"I'll see you when I do."

Laying on my bed, limbs spread like a seafish, I was wondering which direction my life was going. I've always hoped one day I'd do with the flow, but NOT THIS WAY.

Maybe what finally convinced me was that she found a logic explanation to the light in my eyes since I was at my youngest.

Or maybe I was only kept at the edge of my seat - and my consciousness - because the fact that someone knew the secret I've been hiding for an existence, this light coming out of the blue, and I had no clue how to cope, at least not anymore.

I texted her.

"Assuming I believe you, assuming I find logic in what you said, what am I supposed to do?

_Hide."

Was she telling me all these attributes she thought were mine just for me to shut them down? Absurdity, that was.

"I don't get you.

_You're not supposed to. I just showed you what your body is capable of doing. Now, you do you. Just stop feeling surprised when we bump into you again, now you know everything.

_ Even your mate is charged?

_ My bro*.

And yes."

Slumber wasn't coming for me tonight. Suddenly my sheets sounded hotter, almost oppressive. I had to go drink something.

I, on purpose, approached my hand from an iron cup. The miracle I was expecting happened.

"Could you show up at my house?

_ Idk what for. You don't even believe me.

_ I do. Just come through!

_ Send me your location. And show me where your rear door is. Trust me, u don't wanna wake anyone up to see what you've got to show. "

Thirty minutes later, she and her brother were here. His eyes were striking lightning when he saw me. Creepy.

But also, after realising I was a misfit, seeing the light in their eyes felt like home.

"Move!" The girl said. I walked, and she took a picture of me, then handed me her phone.

I was one of them.

At least, that's what she believed I was just on the cusp of discovering.

This girl literally had a thing for getting rid of my lifelong denial for me. Why did she force me to take the bull by the horns? But did she even force me, or I was to excited to be part of those power games?
