Make fire an arson

"Look, you don't have to listen to how she says things..."

"At least she doesn't keep a lid on stuff in front of me. What's this thing against unzipping your mouth for once?"

Aurora laughed until her mythic teeth made a fierce appearance in the picture again. The issue was obviously very intricate, but I couldn't help laughing hysterically neither.

"Sorry", she said. "But being rude sometimes gets the message farther."

Brian had his whole face in his palm, and I laughed again.

"We don't have to make it a tragedy, right? Tell me what it's ALL about."

"Well, the people having similar gifts were part of a certain group, The Energy Unit if my memory isn't failing me. Our mom was one of them, and knows them ALL, so that would obviously help us tremendously. Also, your mom was part of them. Don't let her know you know, she might have had a good reason to shut that down."

"What do you imply?"

"That she was held responsible for many demises. You don't have to believe me, just don't bring us in the conversation. The last thing I wanna do is to ruin my mother's life with the past."

I never thought she would be this loyal, this vulnerable. These new people stripping out of their outer wrapping paper and putting their souls and essence on the table was getting too much for me to handle. But I would handle it, because I was implicated, in every meaning those ten letters held when stuck together.

"So what, now?"

"So what?! You're the one asking what? You had a VISION! Deliver!"

"How did you know??"

"Your gaze! You looked as if in another universe! I just knew, right over. Now tell us, my life will be dull forever if you don't..."

"A bank being robbed, huge implications; whole entire families deceased out of starvation, and enormous economy blocks and structures vanishing and being brought to naught...Worst saved last : it was A GOLD ROBBERY."

"Any spatial evidence to make you believe it was a specific place? Same with time?" Brian blurted.

"You could see a Krispy Kreme sign around there. It was noon, five employees were being yelled at for already going for their lunch break."

"Could you describe the sunshine? We could literally submit that to an astronomist to get the exact day this will happen?"

"What if it already happened?"

"We need to be quick, then. Describe the sunlight to me."

"I don't know. Just...too bright for my liking, brightest I've ever seen."

"And the heat?"

"Scorching."

Brian sounded fierce, as if he just discovered the origin of Life on Earth.

"Pretty sure, it was more or less around the solstice. Which means, it could be any day starting from... tomorrow..."

"So what? Save the world or exams for uni?"

"Quite sure we can do both."

Aurora was unshakable now. Not agitated anymore, strangely focused, in a way that disturbed me. Was I missing anything?

"There are 1400 Krispy Kreme shops, dudes. How. Do. You. Expect. Yourself. To. Handle. It?"

"But not many Krispy Kreme locations facing a bank, right?"

"I guess so."

"I can do some research. You girls get some sleep."

"Lemme take a look. I might have some ideas to pull off, too."

I slept eventually on the carpet, the two of them finding three potential crime spots in my laptop meanwhile. But what actually woke me was a flunked endeavor of grilling toasts. The Carbon odours got in my nose sooner than I could object.

We decided each of us would hang out around one of the spots, and the one who encounters the slightest peculiar, alarming signal has to warn the other two. Spending God-knows-how-much-time across a bank location wasn't that exciting for me, and I could basically fall asleep at any moment which wasn't any good for our purpose, but these were high stakes to juggle with and powerful odds that we had to bet.

My head was the dizziest ever. Boredom reached its climax as all I saw were joyful, eager pedestrians getting donuts from the café and others withdrawing various amounts of money that I tried my best not to painfully stare at. I couldn't help but wonder why I was the unlucky one; I did crave some action, but all of it was somehow gone from the horizon. Also, why did the other eventual locations turn out to be in other states? Worse than that; Aurora ended up in London waiting for a miracle.

Wonderfully, this all was surprisingly intriguing despite the whole dullness of the waiting process. We happened to get something strong and voluntary out of a situation we never asked for. Rather than saying we turned lemons into lemonade, making fire an arson sounded just badass enough for my liking. Just having gotten this far would be enough for me, inspite of the regrets if the heist victims are not saved. Being this heroic had never even occured to me and I hope to be alive in time to congratulate myself.
