When I appraised her, I was once again surprised by the new revelation.
[Name: Dungeon Of Nightmares]
[Race: Dungeon Core]
[Dungeon Rank: Immortal]
[Floor amount: 776]
"What determines a dungeon's Rank?" When I asked, the girl came closer and sat on the ground before answering.
"A dungeon's level is determined by the difficulty of the dungeon and also determines the rank of the dungeon. Dungeons go from Novice, Advanced, Superior, Hardcore, Legendary, Mythical, Divine, and Immortal. There has never been a divine or immortal dungeon recorded in history until now." The little girl laughed then smiled before continuing.
"Due to the immeasurable amount of mana in the atmosphere of this world or dimension as you would call it and it's uniqueness I have evolved into an immortal dungeon, aka a dungeon that can't die. Also I grow at an exponential rate at which I can make a new floor each and every hour if I chose to. Due to there never being an immortal dungeon before me the system accommodated this fact and I can no longer evolve to a higher rank.
I can however continue growing as I no longer have any limits a normal dungeon has. For this I thank you from the very center of my core and forever swear loyalty to you till the end of time and even after that." When she said that she bowed to me and everyone else looked at me like they were worshipping a god.
After the flood of new information I found that it is impossible for any of us to die inside the dungeon due to it being under my complete control. We can however be injured, not that we can't just heal the injuries or anything though. I can also teleport to any of the floors however each floor increases monsters level by increments of 20.
Going with this thought we headed directly to the 21st floor and I was taken aback by the surroundings. We were standing in front of a literal mountain surrounded by a forest filled with blue trees. Apparently though the dungeon core is tagging along by floating above us because she wanted to record us fighting for entertainment. I didn't really mind this but that got an idea going in my head.
If I can fully record the fighting style of my subordinates could I incorporate the information into future subordinates, golems, and 'live dead'? This will need some experimenting later on. The first monster we encountered was a giant earth dragon that was level 201. I soon found out that this dungeon was sadistic towards anyone that wasn't me because of her insane difficulty spikes. However that wasn't even the biggest problem, there was zero variety on the entire floor. It was littered with earth dragons.
Even the boss was an earth dragon. The only difference between them was the rank of the monster which represented the age. How a dungeon accelerated the age of a dragon is a mystery. Apparently each floor had a different type of monster but they may be of the same race or may not be. It's somehow randomized for each floor and so is the environment. Meaning that if I came back to the same floor it would have a completely different environment and monster type than before the only thing that would stay consistent was the levels of the monsters. After hearing this explanation from the dungeon core we proceed to explore the floor further.
When we defeated the first dragon it dropped a chest. The chest contained a dark-steel scythe and a skill book. I'll hold on to the scythe in my inventory for now and check out the skill book. The skill book had an elementary magic spell called earth spike. Also, apparently you can't receive repeat skill books if you still have the original.
Lucky me, I can cheat the system. Because the floor was so massive and didn't have any different monsters I asked the core to change it up and add a variety to this floor because we will probably be on this floor for a while. As much as I like dragon steak and the materials I would get from them it would get old after a while. After I asked this of her she told me that it will be done by tomorrow. We decided to grind for the next few hours and after the 6th dragon Divinus' upgraded from advanced swordsman to warrior and Sicarus from advanced thief to rogue. After a little more exploring we came across our first actual puzzle.
Finally a damn puzzle, something different from normal dungeon exploration that tests the mind. Sadly however it was really simple that just had you put puzzle pieces of a picture of an earth dragon together. This would be difficult for anyone who didn't know exactly what the dragon looked like but since I can just pull one dead one out of my storage it simplifies it. When I solved the puzzle we came upon the boss room.
When we entered we encountered a giant earth dragon that was bigger than Mary in her dragon form. That alone is already as big as a small village. Even though everyone looked at the dragon in awe, frankly I lost all expectations since with me alone I'm 100 levels higher than it. I decided to let my subordinates train themselves and didn't participate in the fight but only watched in the background as a spectator. The fight, however, went differently than I expected it to. Within just a second of Divinus unsheathing his sword he cleared the distance between him and the dragon and uttered one word.
"Guillotine!" When he said this everyone went silent while watching what was unfolding. It looked like he struck the dragon once in the head but in reality he did several strikes all across the dragon's body. Each strike went straight through the dragon's hard skin and it exploded into several pieces of blood and guts on that end of the room. While the silence and stares still lingered Divinus ran up to me, covered in green blood and looked at me with his eyes shining. First thing I did was cast a simple cleaning magic to remove the blood and clean his hair, then I patted his hair, and petted his ears as he laid on my lap. Everyone in the background started clapping in awe of what just happened, but they didn't state anything about it out of concern for the sleeping child residing on my lap.
