The Twenty Eighth

------Back To Nemesis------

Before I even realized it I fell asleep in my seat for a few hours. The seats were surprisingly comfortable. When I woke up the sun was setting and it was around evening time. I figured I should go back to the mansion and tell everyone about the Colosseum. As I'm walking back I come to find everyone standing outside the mansion waiting for me so that everyone could eat. After we eat some steak I tell everyone about the colosseum and have them follow me there.

When we arrived at the colosseum everyone was in awe at the colorful colosseum and its giant size. I told everyone that this is where the tournament will take place and they started clapping at the spectacle in front of them. When they finished everyone headed inside and checked it out. After about an hour of everyone exploring the place we headed back.

When we returned to the mansion I quickly ran to my room to get some rest. For some reason I was extremely tired after that and passed out the moment my face hit the pillow. Once I woke up I found out that I slept until the afternoon. Thankfully everyone ate food instead of waiting for me so I didn't feel bad for sleeping for a long time. However, the very moment I raised myself from my bed, Elaine and Divinus came through my door holding a large amount of chicken and fruit.

Once they brought the food to one of my tables, the three of us ate together and I felt a presence in the background. Turns out it was Lydia and after I noticed her she came in and joined us. When we finished eating I headed to the library by myself and let the three of them do whatever. When I entered the library I found that Dan was there wearing glasses while reading an educational book on the world. I found it funny to see a goblin the size of an adult male wearing glasses. Since he was reading about the world I figured it was about time I learned more about it myself.

The world was named Xenos. It was apparently double the size of Earth, it had so many countries that not even the book had an exact number. Most of the races interacted with each other on equal terms except humans and demons that thought they were superior to other races. Some human civilizations were on equal terms with all races except demons, while most prosecuted all other races.

The humans turned most of the other races into slaves but slavery was widely accepted across all races not just humans. The demon races were persecuted by all other races due to constant demon lords and kings. The world was also infested with a massive amount of dungeons across it. There were seven major human kingdoms, four elven kingdoms, and five beastkin kingdoms.

There were major kingdoms of other races but they weren't noted in the book. At first I didn't really care about the outside world but Dan convinced me that it would be important for the future. I went ahead and looked at my collection of books and saw that it increased by a tremendous amount but the library was still nowhere near full.

It expanded by itself last time books were added to it and now the library was double in size and only a fourth of it was filled with books, skill books included. The one good thing about the place though was that the books organized themselves the moment they were put on a shelf. I sat down at a nearby desk and opened up a story book. After a few hours it was time for dinner and let me tell you, it was a feast if I ever saw one. If you think all of Elaine's previous dinners were grand then you haven't seen this.

There was rice, chicken, steak, vegetables, and fruit across the large table. After everyone ate their food, nothing was left at all, not even a small amount of leftovers. I should probably refill our food stock soon enough. After finishing everyone headed to their rooms since there was a big day tomorrow.

Even though it wasn't time for the tournament, my subordinates went to use the colosseum and practice with each other. Since they didn't know which mirror golem they would be up against it was decided between them that over the course of the remaining time they had before the tournament they would do matchups against each other. Because of Lydia's potions they were able to go all out without any problems. Also due to the size of the colosseum they were able to have two matchups happen at the same time instead of one.

However it was decided to have one at a time because everyone wanted to observe the fight if they weren't fighting themselves and having two intense fights happening at the same time would be too much. The first match that was decided would be between Lydia and Mary. Even though the tournament isn't happening yet, my subordinates are making their own quasi tournament just to train for the real one.

-------POV Change To Lydia------

Please explain to me in what way is this fair at all? My main class is a damn healer and I have to fight against a fucking Dark Ice Dragon? What is this bullshit? You know what, fuck it. The only reason I will deal with this is because the Great Lord Nemesis is watching. I always felt like I would eventually have a fight with Mary at some point in some way. I mean it's not like I don't like her because I like everyone including her.

It's just that the both of us mainly utilize magic as a way to fight. We only learned close combat in case of the need for it. One advantage I might have over her however would be that I trained myself in my own magical martial arts while using my staff. This however, takes a lot out of me so I should try to not use it and just focus on fire and wind attack magic instead while healing myself.

Once the battle began the colosseum started to glow and the both of us started to cast spells at each other. Mary prioritized casting ice spells like ice bold and ice storm chick consisted of several ice needles and tornadoes. As they approached me I burned them away with a fire storm and fired several wind slashes at her. Sadly though she just dodged every one of them that came for her.

I really don't want to deal with this fight, I would honestly rather be in my lab experimenting with the Lord's blood, attempting to make the perfect elixir. The only thing I'm enthusiastic about is winning the tournament so I could request that the Lord could spend a whole day with me. Just thinking about it made me drool a little and get slightly distracted. Oh that's right I'm in the middle of a fight right now. Mary looked extremely focused on what was happening but I'm losing focus with every second that passes. It wasn't until I felt an intense pressure coming from Mary that I started to take the match seriously. She opened up her wings and disappeared from my sight completely. I tried to use my presence detection skill to find her but it didn't work.

It was at that moment that I decided the best option for me would be to surround myself in flames. So I summoned large walls of fire to surround me on all sides to protect myself from the incoming attack. However, that was a mistake since she was already behind me. At that moment, like her I decided to use my trump card and managed to defend myself from her attack. An explosion was caused by the impact and both of us were separated by it.

That was the moment that told me I couldn't mess around anymore. Mary was taking this seriously so I should as well even if I didn't really want to fight her in the first place.
