The Journey

Ernon heard the gruff voice of Seargent Deron. He got inside the bus and stared at each student individually. He had been accessing every student, looking for any sort of fear in their eyes. He had been trained to keep a look out for trouble makers.

Ernon felt uncomfortable. He didn't know if it was his imagination, but he felt the retired soldier looking at him with a sly smile for quite a long time. Without realizing, he started to sweat. "What's wrong, Ernon?" Seargant Devon said. Then he started to laugh. This made Ernon sweat even more.

The Seargant looked at the bus driver and gave a signal. The engine roared to life and Ernon felt the bus start to move. "What was that 'bout?" Robin asked, looking at him strangely. "Not...sure" Ernon said, looking at the Seargent with a slight worry.

The rest of the journey was smooth. Ernon talked to Robin about things that Ernon never thought he'd share with everyone. He realized that Robin was a good listener. He didn't react strangely to the story of his strange life.

He would occasionally nod. Ernon felt weirdly comfortable talking to him. By the end of it, he felt a huge weigh off his chest. "You had a rocky start, didn't you?" he said. Ernon nodded sadly. "But you changed things, look where you are now!" he said, smiling. It reminded him of Jayden. But he didn't feel sad or angry, he felt...calm.

Ernon felt the bus come to a stop. "When you get outisde, stand in a straight line, got it?!" Seargant Devon shouted at the top of his lungs. They got out of the bus, one by one. Ernon felt the sunlight touch his skin as soon as he stepped out. He stretched and got into line.

He gawked at the building in front of him "It's massive" he whispered to Robin. "Yeah" he whispered back. "You, stop talking" he said, pointing at Robin. "Sorry sir" he said. Ernon mouthed 'Sorry' to him. He felt bad. Ernon knew that a first impression was important to surivive in this place...

"Training will start tomorrow. When I call your name, follow me to your room. Each dorm will consist of 4-5 students with one room having only 3 students, understand?" the seargant asked in a provoked tone. The candidates nodded wearily. All they wanted to do was get into bed...

The candidates saw a woman walk out of one of the buildings. She had blonde hair and mystical green eyes. She had a calm expression on her face and greeted the candidates. "Hello everyone, my name is Maya Wilder, but you will call me Mrs Wilder. I am the owner of this Training Centre."

Her eyes roamed over the candidates with a smile. "As Seargant Devon might have explained, your training starts tomorrow, so make sure to get lots of sleep!" she said. And with that, she left the front of the Training Centre, going back inside the main building.

The seargant said the name of the group and started calling out names. After he called out one of the groups, they would follow the seargent inside the building. Ernon thought this was the least effective way to do it. He wondered if Devon was trying to waste time.

Soon, there was only three candidates left. Ernon looked at the remaining people. Surprisingly, Robin was there and a boy he didn't recogonise. He had brown hair and dark eyes. "I guess we're the last group, the one with only three" said Robin. Before Ernon could respond, Seargant Devon appeared.

"Group Thirteen" he said. "Ernon Stellar, Robin Greystone and Caleb Burns " he called out.

"Follow me..."
