The Sanctuary

I am now heading my way towards my dorm. It was still around the campus but its kinda distant to the actual buildings. While I am walking silently, I felt some presence beside me.

"Hi, Alice!" She smiled that made her eyes look so chinky. I stopped and confusedly looked at her.

"Where are you going?" I asked. Her brown lifted up. Then pointed her index finger towards where I was heading. My forehead creased. "Don't tell me..." I trailed off when she started nodding at me.

"I'll also be living at dorm for the meantime. My home is kinda far from here." She added. I nodded instead and continued walking. She then followed me, she was now tailing me.

As soon as I reached my room, I was about to close it when Zarviel stood infront of it.

"What is it?" I weakly asked her. She then, waved my room's card infront of me. Irritation was slowly building up inside me as I tried so gard not to unleash those.

"You're my roomate." She replied with a beautiful smile.

"Aren't you afraid of me?" I asked. She stared for me a second before shaking her head.

"I'm not." She said.

"Why? Don't you know who am I?" I uttered coldly while looking at her back. Im afraid to meet someone's eyes.

"I heard some rumors about you though." She implied innocently. I nodded.

"Are those rumors not enough to scare you away? To stop you from coming to me?" I honestly said with a voice laced with irritation and annoyance.

She gulped as I think she felt the annoyance with my tone. She slowly shook her head at me.

"You know, what is scary?" She uttered and then left her words hanging. I glanced at her, and I almost gulped when our eyes met! I felt my eyes hardened, with the feeling of my eyeballs being cut by a sharp and burning blade. But, my knees almost turned jelly when I saw her eyes suddenly changed in color. Then, it was gone.

I could feel my heart suddenly drummed in a fast pace as what happened a while ago in the classroom with the newly transferred guy, turned the same to what I was seeing with Zarviel! I could feel my breathing slowly getting snatched with that thought. I almost feel down on my knees, if its not with her I probably knelt down in fear!

"Are you okay?" She asked worriedly. I nodded and felt my breath still not in good state while remembering what have been I was seeing today!

"L-let go of me." I said, almost a whisper when I finally calmed myself. Maybe, I was just hallucinating. Maybe, the book that I am reading is really a good book written by a brilliant author 'cause it give me doses of this fantasy... creepy fantasy!

"O-oh, sorry." She replied and instantly let go of me. She then, stood where she was standing a while ago. Worries was on her voice, and I could feel her hands slightly trembling. I stood up and sighed.

"I'm asking you one more time. Aren't you afraid of me?" I implied and repeated my question. She then, shook her head and sighed. "Why?" I demanded for her explanation. She must be a gutty teen, or a risk taker.

"Because, I could not see what they've been telling at you. I can't see any fangs at your teeth. I cant see your eyes turning red. I could not see anything of your characteristic alike with what they've been talking." She longly replied. My heart almost melted at her response. I badly want to tear up, and instead of answering her back, I opened the door widely, informing that she could come inside.

I simply wiped the single dropped of tears that rolled down my cheek.

"You choose this, so be with the consequences." I said and went inside the restroom. I turned the shower on, and let it make noise while it was pouring the floor. I sat down at the corner and let my tears trail down. Damn it! Those words were too good to my ears but it gives my heart an aches! Like needles torturing my heart by piercing it, again, and again, and again.

I crued silently, literally silent. My tears were just beaming down and I was just in the verge of being unable to feel. Her words were too good to hear yet it bought me nothing by plain loneliness, and agony.

After few minutes of sudden break down, I gathered myself and urge myself to position under the pouring water. I changed the water's temperature to cold, just incase my eyes got swollen. I don't want Zarviel to see me with swollen eyes.

Once I'm done, I instantly went out. Zarviel was just silent while sitting at the edge of her bed.

"You can use the shower now." I said while getting my pair of pajamas. I heard her moved.

"U-uh, I'll gonna use the C.R now." She carefully and softly uttered. I was looking for ng pairs of pajamas at my cabinet, so apparently she was just facing my back. Instead of turning back to respond her, I just nodded while still busy getting my pair of pajamas. "Thanks." She added then I heard the C.R's room opened.

I changed quickly and lay over my bed. I tucked my self with my thick yet comfy sheet while facing the wall. I'm not used of this position, so I can't gather my sleepy self. I was just wide awake the whole time. Though, it was still 6. PM. I don't usually go out for dinner since, every night for me, is what I consider my peace in order to be sane for tomorrows.

The C.R's room swung opened again. I heard Zarviel walking in tiptoed. Maybe, she thought I was asleep. She carefully unzip her bag and probably changed. I suddenly rose up, then suddenly I heard something falls. The moment I looked at it, I saw Zarviel almost draining the blood on her face. My forehead creased.

"What is happening to you?" I confusingly asked. She was closed to fainting when I saw her sitting down the floor. She shook her head and pointed me.

"N-no. What are you doing? You suddenly sat on your bed like a freaking something! You almost scare the hell out of me!" She replied, almost screaming with a shaking voice.

The side of my lip rose.

"This is one of the consequences, Zarviel." I uttered with a very cold tone.

"Oh!" She pointed me again now with eyes being wide.

"What?"

"You remembered my name?" And in an instant, her fear suddenly changed to enthusiasm. I looked at her boredly.

"Because, you're the only one who introduced herself to me. How would I forgot?" I said, with a hint of delightment laced on my voice.

"Wow! I thought you didn't hear me." She now started talking. I shouldn't have responded to her. She so talkative!

I refrain myself from resoonding her nonsense questions.

I heard her slowly walking towards the other side of our room.

"Do you think we should start storing foods now?" She asked while on the kitchen. She left the door open, and now she is shouting.

Instead of tucking myself to bed, I went out of our room and went to the kitchen. She's now opening the cabunets and fridge and saw nothing. She must be hungry.

"What are you doing?" I still asked though it was obvious by what she's been doing.

"Uh... aren't you hungry?" She implied. I shook my head. For almost a year, myself was used of not eating any dinner.

I shook my head at her.

"Ow. Do you know where can I eat? I'm kinda hungry." She replied. I nodded at her.

"Cafeteria." I shortly said.

"Ow. Thanks." She said and went back to our room the got a cardigan. She was near the door when I halted her.

I was just about to let her go out of herself when I remembered that it isn't safe. Our door was somewhat meters away from tge school, near the tree trunk where I saw a man that was looking at me directly from there.

"Stop. Wait for me." I said and went inside the room. I also got myself a hoddie.

We locked our room and started walking. The air was shivery cold while the night's darkness were too creepy for me. I think, I was starting to get paranoid as O always felt someone's stare from afar.

"I thought you're not hungry." She implied while looking ahead.

"I'm not. But you'll be my responsibility if ever something happens to you." I replied. She chuckled.

"I can protect myself, for your information. " she said while still chuckling. I blew an air out of my nose. What an annoying response. I just nodded and continued walking.

I was about to turn left when suddenly Zarviel stopped. My forehead creased while she was looking at nowhere with tensed face and sharp eyes. She suddenly stepped infront of me. She was still looking somewhere, when I squinted my eyes I saw nothing but pure darkness.

By our position, I could tell that Zarviel was shedding me from what she was seeing in the dark. Like, she was protecting me from it. My forehead creased more.

"What are you seeing there, Zarviel." I inquired with cold yet tensed tone. I was expecting a good response from her when she shut me off.

"Shut up." She replied with an anger visible in her voice. She was looking at it with daggers when suddenly, something seemed moved in a flash speed! Zarviel, instantly tooked a 360 degree turn and just saw her standing at me back. Facing the tree where I think I saw someone eyeing me. I felt my throat went dry. What the hell!?

"Z-Zarviel!" I stammered as I could feel more eyes now. And, true to whar was Zarviel seeing, the owner of those stares are from the creeping darkness!

"Alice. I need you to stay silent. I need to heard their moves and breathing." She replied seriously!

"What the..."

"Keep silent or die talking." She added that made my throat almost at El Niño state!

I have no choice but to keep silent and just stay still. From my back, I could feel a lot of eyes staring at me from the big bushes where in it was swallowed by pure darkness everynight. Many would go there and do some nasty worldly things, It was a bit creepy but unlike tonight, If I would scale it from 1 to 10, without hesitation I would write 10! Fvck!

I was panicking inside and I don't know what to do! I need to calm myself! Damn it! I inhale a large amount of air and close my eyes. I need to relax! Come one, self, breath. Breath. I was still closing my eyes when suddenly, I saw everything or something vividly that was hiding on the bushes and even at the trees... with a closed eyes!

My mind was panicking yet my body was still at it's position. Like, it used to see everything with eyes closed! Geez! What's this!? I almost puke when I saw the whole area within 25 meter radius! Oh, God! What's happening?

"You are still after me?" I heard the voice of a woman said. I could feel her near me. Very near. It sound so enchanting and... cold.

"Confirmed." A man's voice uttered. I was still with my eyes closed as I felt eveyone's presence. It was all heavy... but this woman near me, who own the voice is supreme among all of the presence I am feeling! It was too cold, too dark, too shivering, and too... intense.

"Who are you now?"

"I am Άλις Μοντεγκράλ." The voice near me replied.
