The Sanctuary
Fang sanctuary
I silently watched the sunrise as I just let myself stay outside up until the sun rises. Valix shortly returned to his dorm after what he said. It still left me puzzled, yet I have no strength to confront his words. All I want that night is just a little peace of mind. Just to simply sat and just do nothing.
"Oh! Alice..." I heard Zarviel's voice at my back. I heard her footsteps coming towards where I was sitting. She sighed and took a seat beside me. "... I seriously don't know what's happening to you right now, but by just knowing that you stayed up all night, there might be a big mess you're at."
"I seriously don't know what's happening to me, right now. But... yeah. I'm in a complete mess right now. A very big mess inside my head to be precise." I replied as my gaze were still settled at the sun rising.
"Alice, do you think you can still go with it?" she asked, trying to be gentle in any ways possible. That's when my gazes slowly diverted at her. Her worries were all over written in her face as her eyes made the emotions inside her more visible.
"It was given to me, I guess... I can handle it, or I need to handle it." I replied accompanied with the bitterness in my voice.
"Alice, I got something to tell you..." she trailed off. I looked at her again with a knotted brows.
"What is it?" I inquired. She then sighed again, heavil before spoking up.
"Alice... do you believe in supernaturals?" She asked.
"You know what, I asked Valix that same question you are asking to me right now. Well, to answer your question... yes, I do believe in them." I replied, chuckled a little as I got to remember the certain reason why I started reading stories about supernaturals. That left me a little smile on my lips.
"Alice, do you think they really exist?" She asked again. I frowned with the way she was asking me. She was very careful with her questions, that it sound like she was talking to a little girl.
"Just like the word 'perfection' it wouldn't exist if it isn't true... nor existing," I replied and looked at her directly in the eyes. She gulped and smiled fakely.
"Alice, would you believe me if I tell you that we belong in the same exact universe?" She added which made me laugh.
"Zarviel, know that we have the same age. And, you are talking to an adult and not a little girl," I implied which also made her laughed, but nonetheless, she didn't responded and just stared at me. I was then still laughing but was then left hanging when I felt anxious with her stare. "... But yeah. Of course, I still believe that we exist in the same exact universe... and talking to you right now is a proof, Zarviel." I added. She then shook her head at me.
"No. Not in this universe. In the parallel world, or maybe in the other dimension," she replied, implying something I don't get a hunch. My forehead creased as I was looking at her, totally displaying my confused face. She smiled uneasily at me, with doubt and hesitation rising at her eyes. She put her lips into a thin line, probably trying to keep her mouth shut.
"Zarviel... I didn't get you but I think were on the same page. Or if not, and you are just showing me that you got my back by asking me those questions... ha, I... appreciate that but, we don't have to make ourselves look like fools, Zav. I know you got me, but taalking about that made me think that you are just doing it for me to feel your sympathy." I longly said, feeling disheartened. I know she'll always got my back but... I just felt like a kid being lured by the stories, made me believe with the stories to somewhat justify what I have seen in the woods. It just felt like too absurb for me.
I glanced at her and saw her pursing her lips. I smiled at little at her before standing up. I tapped her shoulder, and that was when she looked up to me.
"It's just too absurb to even digest, Zarviel." I added before I finally took myself towards the room.
I sat down at my bed, and glanced the book I was holding.
"Fangs..." I uttered in the thin air.
Should I always base my assumptions and thoughts just inside of the box? What if... what if, everything were just real and I did just failed to acknowledge it because it was too surreal? What if... they are truly alive, breathing fine, and even just atching us from afar. When could I tell that reality deosn't conceal any being or forgot any creatures from the past?
What if they are really true, and we are just afraid to acknowledge them. Or, they are really true but many chooses to bury them in everyone's memory, and those wh just let the memory of them withers because... they find them as ruthless beast?
I was slowly getting fed up by my thoughts when I got interrupted by the woman's voice. At first, I thought Zarviel came inside the room yet when I glanced the door, I saw no trace of Zarviel's presence. I formed my lips in a thin line as I heard it continusly cursing. It sounded like it was cursing right infront of me.
"Damn it! I just got stuck inside here again! Damn! Where is this place? Why can't I hear anything? Nor feel any presence, neither see! What the heck is this bewitchment?!" That was when I realised that we are two souls living in one body. I just kept myself shut and even held my breath... as the thought of her taking over my body came inside my head.
"Damn it!" she cursed again, her voice sounded in rage as I could feel its intensity. It just simply radiates in me that smewhat brought me chills in the morning.
I hurriedly took a paper and pen and listed my observations. First, she can't read my thoughts while being sent at the dark place 'if' I am asleep... it could be eitherway. Second, she is still gaining her strength and it would take her time to fully over powers me. Third, she is up for big. She wouldn't let herself stay in the dark place if she'll just up for small things. She would instantly act up her revenge if it just small.
Next, I started listing the questions I got in mind. Since, I have the freedom to think freely. I started making bullets in my paper and wrote the questions that I badly needed answers as soon as possible.
Who is this woman?
Who was that guy that brought her to life?
Why does its me?
Those were the only few question I've written since I almost threw my books as I stood up when I saw the clock. Shit! I'm running late!
I ran towards the door and was about to call Zarviel when my words just left hanging. I felt like I was being splashed with a very cod water. I felt like everything aroundme stopped and the only things that was moving were the persons that caught my gaze.
The corners of my eyes began to get sore as the chills were almost eating me up. I don't even know how I did remain standing despite my shaking knees! My hands were trembling in fear and I... I didn't know how would I react with the scene I was witnessing!
"Leave her or raise your flags. We are up for war. We failed her once... and it'll not happen twice." Just in, my gaze settle at Zarviel... the other Zarviel that I didn't met, and the other Zarviel she didn't show.
I fisted my knuckles as I was trying my hands too stop trembling yet it doesn't do any help. There were howls hovering and outside did just turned dark, and it just feel like it was another gloomy night.
Zarviel was wearing a long dress with her hood took off from her head. Her eyes were red as her skin turned pale. And... she has fangs! Long sharp fangs that would instantly kill her prey once her fangs being pierced at someone's neck.
The howls of those white big dog-like creatures were still on-going. They seems like calling the moon. And when I looked up, the moon was already gazing down. The sunny sunrise indded turn into a gloomy night.
"We will never stop until she'll gave up her own life! She's ours. She's not ne of yours neither yours! Step back, and stop protecting the woman who was molded to be our queen!" A woman with broomsticks replied with such in rage.
"No. No one owns her rather than herself. And we will never step back not until she chooses. She needs to choose," Zarviel responded with her cold and chilling voice.
"You are confident that she'll choose the fang, but she can never rule everyone. And, she'll forever be hunted and badmouthed for killing the future empire." The woman fired back and laughed evily.
"To save the cursed, they need blood. Whom would you choose to give up? Yourself as the hero and friend or her?" and then the witch gazed where I was. Settled her eyes at mine which literally made me kneel.
"Let it be her." she added as she ws still looking at my eyes. "Afterall, she doesn't deserve to live." Fvck!
