XXI: Celebrating a departure Part 2

I raised an eyebrow at him. “Tell me, when have I not put the welfare of the empire first, dear father? Yes, I wish to see if I’m correct, but I’m also going to find a cure for our land.”

Seeing as I had grasped his thoughts, he deflated and shook his head. “Why can’t things be as easy as when you were a child?”

I giggled “But dada, I still am.”

He huffed, but a smile graced his lips. “I meant when you were younger and less prone to go away to search for mythical characters?”

“Was I ever like that? I even at six I practically made you let me go meet a dragon.”

He let out a groan. “No need to remind me of that.”

We stood there for a while, staring at the starry sky in a companionable silence, until we were both interrupted by a cough from the side, and the captain of my father’s guard approached and bowed. "Your majesty, we have everything set." Father nodded before looking at me with half a smile.
