Shui Long hummed and beckoned me forward before materializing a chair close to its body and inviting me to sit there. I did, right before launching into the story Yin and I shared, with every detail Selene and I could remember.
Almost an hour later, when we had finally finished our story, Shui Long hummed and scratched its chin. To my surprise, at this gesture, its head morphed back to that of a normal Chinese dragon. Its scales and skin rippled like water before rearranging in the visage of every other dragon I had met, antlers and all. “Interesting. So, this dragon…Yin, as you named him, remembers nothing.”
“Yes, but he knows what happens here, at least vaguely.”
“Yes…” It hummed and looked up at the darkening sky. “I would think that… perhaps…” The dragon stared at me with a serious face. “Little Shixian, in exchange for granting you passage to the next area, I wish to ask for a favor.”
