Hope, is there any? II Part II

The following morning, I stood on the city's ramparts, staring through binoculars at the enemy formations. They had finally stopped moving and were now, apparently, waiting for something to happen.

As were we.

Were we ready?

‘Does it matter?’

No, it didn’t.

Like always, life happened, and it came down to those of us living in the present to act.

Yesterday was nothing but a memory; tomorrow didn’t exist. We only ever had today.

Hmmm, perhaps I could write a poem like that.

To my utmost amazement, this morning, my shoulders felt somewhat lighter than they had yesterday. I could attribute it to Mei’s influence, but I knew that would only be part of it; the real reason was the words, words that had moved my heart in such a way that today’s challenges didn’t feel quite as impossible.
