Chapter 44

Lorenzo: if your heart is at peace, then you did the right thing, he replied while stroking my hair with his big hands

I spent the rest of the morning thinking about what my father said; it seemed

right, I wasn't at peace; each passing day, my heart squeezes a little more, feeling his absence; if the yearning I feel could jump out of my chest and talk, it would scream his name and ask to stay by my side until my last Sigh.

The rest of the day was not good; I threw up on the bedroom floor after hours doing the chemo; when night came, it was accompanied by horrible pains that only alleviated after 2 ml of morphine. I could only think of two things: Nicolas and staying well to be discharged and go home.

Marcele: your night pills, she said as she approached with a glass of water and some medicines in her hand

Isabella: Thank you. Mother, I called her before she has left.

Marcele: yes

Isabella: Can you buy me some headscarves tomorrow?
