"Of course you complain, Mrs. Luna, while you slept in comfortable beds and ate like the queen you are I had to live like a dog, don't you dare complain and I waited for you thinking, she must be figuring something out. To prevent us from further harm or getting caught." Aria growled.
"You can't do that," I said my voice barely audible. "You know I would switch with you any day."
"That's the problem, Iris, you can't!" She yelled, her eyes changing. "You are the one looking so plump and healthy and I'm the one resembling a golom, you are the one that hates the moon goddess but yet you have the gifts, heck you have a prophecy about you. You are the one that doesn't believe in love but yet the one who has found her mate! Although he is a crazed brutal killer, he is yours! And you don't even want any of that. I want all of that, but I shut up and listen to you whine on and on and on about how your life sucks. I want to love and be loved Iris, I hate running for my life or fighting off people that you have angered. And now you have the guts to say you had it bad? Huh!" She screamed, her canines dropping, claws extending.
It was foolish to remain close to her when she was in this state but I couldn't bring myself to move away.
I was so shocked I just stood there. For the first time in my life I was speechless I didn't know what to say I never knew she felt this way, it seemed like I have been living a lie. Nobody knows the burden I carried, nobody knows the pain I am in every day, I just always thought Aria knew more, that she didn't judge only based on the wall I had put to block it, the fake smile I wear. But I guess that was my fault, I never told her what I was, I never told anyone.
She kept pacing back and forth. "You are mated to the most powerful wolf in the world and you don't have a plan" she chuckled her lips tilted downwards and her brows furrowed. "Don't you realize he could find you in any minute?"
"He is distracted right now, he won't notice for at least a while."
"It's already dark, I'm pretty sure he is already out looking for you!"
"He's not! He's not." I insisted.
"And what makes you so sure?" She asked.
"His... I don't what she is to him is hurt and fighting for her life so he's with her." I say.
"My goddess Iris are you jealous?" I look away, but I shouldn't have because I did not read that statement.
"How dare you bring me into a quarrel between you and the most terrifying Alpha there is?!" She growled her claws up in the air and headed straight for my face.
As I lifted my hand to protect myself her blow never came. A gurgled sound splurted out of her mouth with the blood that trickled down her jaw, and when I looked at her my jaw dropped, there was an arrowhead sticking out of her chest, and with the amount of blood pouring out her chest I just knew, the shooter shot to kill.
"Aria!!!!!" I screamed, running to her, I caught her just before she hit the ground. "Oh god! Aria?" She looked up at me I could see the fear in her eyes as she silently begged me for her life. She was already coughing up blood. I held her and broke the arrow's sharp part and pulled it out blood gushed out of the hole and splattered unto me. Yup, definitely the heart. I started to heal her when another arrow hit beside me.
Shit! I couldn't stay here.
lifting her into my arms it wasn't much of a struggle to balance her weight on mine. I tried to run, looking for cover, stupid river, with stupid open spaces I struggled to make into the woods all of a sudden I was on the floor with a loud thump unable to move my legs when I looked down to examine I was bound by what I'm sure was that flying rope thingy I didn't like. It stung and it was a bastard to get off. When I fell to the ground, that was not easy on Aria. She was losing a lot of blood and it was already dark out. It was hard to see without using my wolf eyes.
"Yet you say I'm being unfair?" That voice! Oh my gosh, how did he find me? And so fast.
I turned around and saw him standing so gallantly in the bushes he stepped out and walked to me.
"You? You can't be here someone is trying to kill us." I huffed in panic. "Look they already shot Aria."
"I shot Aria."
"What?!"
"Why would you do that?"
"She was about to attack you." He said as if I was crazy for asking why?
"No, she wasn't? How could you, she's badly hurt!"
"You left me" he ignored me and kept walking to me I moved back, I tried to get to Aria.
But I couldn't move, it was as if I was melting under his gaze. "I needed you today and you weren't there" his voice sounded so angry, but his eyes looked hurt.
"How do you expect me to trust you when you go and break my heart like this, and I'm cruel to you? I'm the wicked one?"
What the hell?
"Look, I don't care about anything you have to say, you can't blame this all on me! You can't blame anything on me. Aria is hurt and you just stand there acting all high and mighty like you're the only one with feelings?!" I screamed. "Your stupid arrow passed through her heart!"
"Oh, I shot to kill." He stated matter of factly, looking at Aria struggling on the floor.
"You know how much she means to me and you still have the guts to touch her!"
"You hurt me and disobeyed my clear orders yet you expect me not to punish you?"
"Disobey, disobey, disobey! I am sick of this. Sick of you!" I screamed. "Fine, I disobeyed you, then punish me!" I screamed. "What did Aria do?!"
I finally had enough bitterness to break away from his annoying gaze and ran to her. "There is nothing you can do now just let her die, peaceful." He said behind me.
"Oh, that's where you're wrong," I say and hold my hands above her heart. Pressing it on the wound, I shut my eyes and still myself, as I imagine so it happens, visualize it then do it, soon my palm is reassured with the movement of her muscles just as I am imagining it, the smooth muscles of her heart extend fiber by fiber. Stretching to close the unnatural space that did not exist before. And the blood that flowed out stopped just like a tap closed, not another drop, next it was the chipped bones of her ribs piecing back together then her skin before long the wound was no longer there. Suddenly she stopped choking and relaxed, she fell asleep on my lap.
Malik said nothing for a bit, and when I look up at him he sighed visibly. His expression was considerably vague.
"It's you."
