Chapter 27

I woke up and tentatively moved my arm. Doesn't hurt. Okay, move legs. Fine. It's gone?

I slowly raised myself up on the bed and sat up, I was still sore. I relaxed my head on the backboard and rested for a few seconds. I decided to take this time to feel my skin and see if those stakes had actually done any damage. Nope, no wounds. I then touched my nose, it was wet I could only guess it was blood. I heard movement next to me and sensed a channel, I'd realized that if I could mind link someone I would sense a channel.

I had the moment Raphael walked in. I had sensed someone new, and something else I couldn't explain. Then it left, I thought I might've heard something but that was when the pain had been the worst.

I thought back to when Raphael had come back.

After what had felt like forever, I sensed him. I don't know how but I somehow knew it was Raph, my mate. I listened for him, I heard him walk to the bed, then felt as it caved slightly under his weight. He pulled me into his embrace, I couldn't move to hug him back, but I rested my head on his chest and heaved a sigh of relief. He was back! I breathed in his now familiar minty scent that I had been craving. I moved my hand so that I could feel him. I smiled, I couldn't describe the feeling I had when he held me.

I wanted to talk to him so I decided to bear the vertigo and mind link him.

-You're back.- I said happily.

-Yes. I came back.- he said. I smiled. But it faded quickly, when I'd opened the channel to talk to him I started getting random thoughts. No, memories.

"Alpha, can I see my mate?"

"But you will pack your bags and leave immediately once you're done."

I just got fragments of the memory but I could still see that Raph was leaving again.

-You have to go again.- I said sadly. A wave of vertigo hit me.

-How do you know?-

-You're not very good at guarding your thoughts.- I replied, laughing a bit at the fact.

-Are you making fun of me?- he asked me jokingly.

I laughed, he was too cute, -Ha, ha no.-

I started trembling again as I felt another stake. -It still hurts. And I get vertigo every time I mind link.- I said. Not wanting to make him feel bad, but just letting him know.

-Well then don't mind link.- He said. I could sense his worry.

-But I wanna talk to you. Where did you go? And where are we?- I asked, then gasped in pain and clung to his shirt.

"Shh." He started stroking my back, "Hmm, why don't you let me talk." I nodded. His voice rumbling in his chest. The vertigo was getting worse.

He told me he had been dealing with Elves and that he had freed some prisoners. Then he'd caught some prisoners and one of them had been eighteen, not that much younger than me, he had let the eighteen year old go and had brought him to the pack. And that his name was Duma.

He finished talking and we just sat. I deeply inhaled his scent, and was put at rest.

"Brooke. How old are you?" He asked out of the blue.

-Nineteen. I'll be twenty in October.- I said without hesitation. But I did wonder how old he was. In all my books they said that werewolves had prolonged lifespans.

"Hey, I told you not to mind link anymore." He said, sounding half-serious. I giggled at how he was being. Although I was feeling dizzy now.

-Raph, where am I?- I asked, and let out a shaky breath. My body had started trembling.

"Uh…" His hesitation was suspicious, "My house." 'Okay, you're house where? If you brought me to Prince George, I will be pissed.' I didn't have the energy to be pissed though. I just rested my head on his firm chest and listened to him tell me about the pack, and that he was going to Vancouver.

I drifted off to sleep and woke up now. With no pain.

The person moving next to me started to increase in their movement.

"Are you awake?" She asked me. I nodded my head, and no pain or nausea came.

"Are you feeling alright." I nodded my head again. She moved and I felt her dab my nose.

"You're still bleeding." She said, "Would you like water."

Well, right now the thought of that doesn't make me nauseous, so I nodded my head. She mind linked.

-Lucy, I need you to get some water she's awake and thirsty.- I heard her, I could tap her mind-link. I was so amazed and shocked I wanted to laugh, but I didn't.

After a couple minutes the door opened and the lady sitting next to me got up and muttered something I couldn't hear, then came and sat down again.

"Here you go." She lifted the straw to my mouth and I drank, "Just little sips." She said. After she finished she asked tentatively, "Are you blind?"

I laughed, not feeling pain with everything I did was nice, "No, I'm not blind." I said, my voice a little rough from not being used for a long time, which made me wonder.

"Oh." She sounded embarrassed, "Then why haven't you opened your eyes?"

"Because every time I tried since I've been in pain, I would pass out, or it would bring a whole new round of pain." I said.

"I see." She paused, and didn't keep talking, so I asked, "What's your name?"

"Hmm, oh, Gloria." I could hear a slight smile in her voice.

"That's a beautiful name. My name's Brooke." I smiled. I assume she smiled back because she didn't say anything.

"Oh, sorry, that's a lovely name."

I laughed, "It's okay, you don't have to apologize."

I asked for some more water, and once I was done I said,

"Okay, Gloria. I'm gonna try to open my eyes, since nothing else hurts I hope it doesn't."

I slowly opened my eyes and the light didn't hurt. Once they were fully opened I glanced and saw Gloria sitting next to me, then I saw the nighty I was wearing.
