Chapter 48

All three of us poured into the house, as we scrambled to get changed from our work clothes into clean ones.

Our parents had texted us and said that they would be waiting for us at the Fall Fair.

We were already ten minutes late, and by the time we got there the parking lot was full. We parked on the road and walked, or sprinted, to the entrance. I stopped and looked for our family and spotted Raphael waving at us.

"Come on guys." I pointed at Raph and we all headed in his direction. His silver hair glimmered in the warm summer sun, yes it was September but Fall came closer to October in this town. I looked at his pale skin, it would probably get tanned this evening, his golden eyes looked relieved to see me. My eyes probably held the same emotion.

I was surprised by his outfit, not that he didn't look good. He was wearing a pair of black shorts that showed his muscular legs, I had no idea they were so muscular. He was also wearing a blank green t-shirt, the same colour as the shirt I was wearing, that revealed his muscular arms.

"Hey, what took you guys so long?" He asked. A picture flashed through my head of me running up to him and him grabbing my waist holding me as we shared a kiss. I pushed the thought out of my mind and tried not to blush, but I still bit my lip.

We walked in and paid for our tickets, then went to get dinner. There was two large white buildings that had concession stands. I got a hot dog, it wasn't to heavy a meal, as I would be walking for the rest of the evening.

Raphael got a bowl of chilli, "You're gonna regret that." I muttered to him while Ulyssa and Brad ordered their food.

"And why is that?" He asked in a teasing voice. I let out a breathy laugh and smirked at him. I pointed across the Fair to my brother's favourite ride: The Himalayas. "Because you're gonna ride that. With my brother." I finished with a cheeky smile.

I saw Raphael's face fall, "I have to ride that?" He asked. I giggled, "Yes! No one ever wants to ride with Brad, and I thought that you might be able to stomach it."

"We'll, I went to the magic kingdom, when it first opened, and the PNE. I think I went to Canada's Wonderland once."

I started chuckling, "I wouldn't say stuff like that if I were you, I mean unless were in the Pack but…"

"Stuff like what? The magic kingdom?" He asked, holding his pop and Chilli bowl and wearing what he was wearing, he almost looked like a normal person. But his beautiful physique and facial features gave him away.

"Yes, stuff like that." I said holding in another round of giggles. It was fun to watch Raphael be a normal person. Or at least try.

We sat down at the picnic table that my parents and Judith were saving for us. We all ate happily, then headed to see the farm animals and arts.

We went to the stables and Raph told me that he knew how to ride horses, and that the pack even had a stables.

We then went to the poultry building, that, as expected, smelled like manure. There were the usual crazy looking chickens and colourful roosters, the bunnies and rodents also shared the building. Ulyssa crooned over the bunnies, while I made faces at a nearby baby.

I looked up to see Raph staring at me with a warm expression. I smiled shyly back.

Next we went to the arts building. Me and Brad had submitted some of our art. He had submitted two sketches of his and I had submitted one of my paintings and two of my photos.

We walked in and started searching the walls for our art, to see which prize we'd gotten. I spotted my painting first and squealed, "First place!" There was a beautiful blue ribbon next to it.

"Oh, yay."

"Good job."

My family congratulated me. Then Raph walked up to it with a look of awe on his face.

"That's yours? You painted that?"

I smiled broadly, "Yes I did." It was my favourite painting of mine. A reflection of an orange tree on a lake. I was so proud of myself for how good it looked, I'd worked weeks on it.

"Wow, that looks really good ho-Brooke," Raph said genuinely. I laughed and his little slip.

"You know you've seen my paintings before." I said.

"Really?" He asked.

I nodded, "Mmhmm, they're the ones that are on the entryway wall at my house." I pointed to an imaginary wall.

"Second place… and first place!" I heard Brad yell. I walked over and saw his drawings. He had submitted his suit of armour one and Sydney opera house.

I smiled, proud of him.

We looked at the photography wall and saw that I got a participant ribbon, and a second place.

"Hmm." I said, narrowing my eyes at the two photos. In my eyes they were perfect, the first was a picture of a bumblebee on a flower, the second was of white cherry blossoms with a bright blue sky in the background.

"Sometimes the judges are lazy." Ulyssa said.

I nodded and hummed.

Raphael just looked at me quietly, still with that look of awe. As we walked to the next building that held all of the hobbies, I asked, "Raphael, do you have any hobbies?"

"Not like yours." He said looking up at the sky then back down to the doorway ahead of us.

"Okay, what kind of hobbies do you have?" I asked, prodding.

"Uh… martial arts… I can cook."

"Cook what? A sandwich?" I asked him with a laugh in my voice. We still weren't touching each other so we both had our hands in our pockets.

"Haha, I can cook more than a sandwich," he paused, "I make a mean omelette." He said seriously.

I burst out laughing.

"Ooh, and Kraft dinner, I'm there."

Still laughing, I said, "Well don't worry now, because I'm going to cook all your meals for you… except when I don't want to." We both laughed.

I sighed happily on the inside, 'I love his laugh.'

We entered the building, the first area was gardening, I always loved the flowers. "I'm not sure you could handle feeding a Lycan every day." He whispered to me.

"Uh, have you met Bradley? I'm sure it'll be fine, plus I'll learn."

We continued on in silence other than little comments of, "Oh! Look at this one." Or, "That's beautiful!" And little whispers of, "That's ugly."

After we finished that building, the only one left was the livestock then the rides.

We got to the livestock and they all started freaking out.

"I'm gonna go to the washroom." Raph said, "Be right back!" Then he waved and walked away, leisurely. And the animals calmed down.

I looked at his retreating figure, "Huh." I huffed. So animals, or at least cows, pigs, sheep and goats were afraid of him.

We explored the barn then exited and went to buy our tickets.
