Chapter 49

Raphael made his way back to her by following her scent. It wasn't easy with all the cotton candy and strong smells, and he wasn't a hunter. But out of all of them, her cinnamon scent was the strongest.

He found them at a ticket stall.

"Ah, Raphael! How many tickets would you like?" Kelly asked him as he neared.

"Uh, I'm not sure." He said. And he wasn't.

"Okay, I'll just get you four and you can trade them if you don't want them."

"Oh, that's alright, I can pay for my own." He said hurriedly.

"Nonsense." Kelly said as she pulled out her credit card.

He was about to protest again when he felt a small, warm hand on his arm. Her scent grew stronger and he looked down and saw her round face looking up at him. She mouthed the words, "It's okay."

He nodded. He guessed it was their way of repaying him for saving their daughter.

Once they all had their tickets in hand, except for Judith and her parents, they all headed for the rides.

The first one they came to was the Ferris Wheel.

"Who's riding this one?" Kelly asked with a loud voice.

Ulyssa's and Brooke's hands both shot up. Bradley stuck his hand up and Raph said that he'd be willing to go.

They all stood in line, Brooke next to him and Bradley next to Ulyssa. They gave their tickets to the carnie and sat down in the seat. They buckled themselves up and then spun to the front.

He looked over at Brooke who was looking down at the fair beneath them. She was wearing that deep, green shirt with a round neck and light blue jeans. He noticed that she never wore shorts, at least as long as he'd known her.

He looked at the field beyond the fair, the warm sun's light made it look golden and it shone on Brooke's hair and turned it into a halo on her head. Her warm skin seemed to glow with the sun.

She looked radiant.

The seat moved up again.

"So, about those hobbies of yours…" She said, and snapped him out of his daze.

"What about them?" He asked. He didn't have hobbies, he could sew a patch on a sail and weave a new one, cook meat on a spit and ride a horse, but he didn't think that that was what she was referring to. She could paint and took incredible photos, she could apparently cook, and he wondered what else she could do.

"You need to get some." She said, still staring ahead of her.

"Really?" He asked.

"Mmhmm, yep, as soon as we get home we're gonna start finding you some hobbies."

"Okay." He smiled at her, he loved that she called his home hers. And he was also looking forward to seeing what hobbies she had planned.

His expression turned serious, "Brooke, are you okay? The Elf, how you doing?" He asked.

Her face turned solemn, "I remembered something that I should've told you last night, but forgot." She took a deep breath, "He said that it was interesting that I was a mortal, but could see his true form, the smoky one."

Raphael pondered this, 'It was just because she was part Lycan.' He thought.

"He also asked what I was." She said confusedly.

The seat started to move and spin around, she said that she had to look straight ahead because she got motion sick.

He just thought that it was the normalcy of the ride.

She giggled when it spun quickly in the other direction, it was a delight to watch her expressions change. He thought about how just yesterday she had shut down while they were shopping, she didn't even look like the same girl.

He grabbed her hand and kissed it, it tasted like cinnamon, he wanted to taste more. She looked at him curiously, "What was that for?" She asked happily.

"I just love you." He said staring into her dark, brown eyes. Her lips parted and he was tempted to kiss her, eh why not. He leaned forward and planted a light kiss on her soft, pink lips.

She smiled and her eyes were shining. "You really love me?" She whispered faintly, but he could still here her.

"Yes, I do."

She smiled even wider, "I love you too!" And she gave him a little kiss on his own lips. He wanted more, but no. He would wait until they were home.

~~~~~~~~
I kissed him! He said he loves me! I said I loved him! So far this evening has gone great. The kiss was not as passionate as our first one, but to be honest, I was okay with that. For now. After all, I had passed out after that kiss.
These kisses were just a little peck on our lips. When I kissed his lips I hadn't expected them to feel so soft, they didn't look soft. I blushed at where my thoughts were leading.
We got off the Ferris Wheel and went to the swings next. "Who's going in this one?" My mom called out.
"Me!" I said. Ulyssa raised her hand, and Raph said that he would try it.
We all got into the swings and spun around. Once that was over we moved to Brad's favourite ride: The Himalayas.
My mom was telling Raph about the first time I ever went on the swings, it had started raining and the rain felt like needles on my skin, my mom always said that it looked like I was having a horrible time because my eyes had been squeezed shut, but it was only because of the rain.
After my mom was done telling the story I walked up to Raph, "Remember, you have to ride this one." I said with a very sincere face.
He looked at me with a slightly annoyed face and I laughed.
"Hey, Bradley! You wanna go on this one together?" Raph walked up to my brother and asked enthusiastically.
I sniggered to myself, while watching them zoom past on the roller coaster. Once they were out they both looked a little green, I didn't know that Lycan's could get sick, 'Although maybe he was faking it.' I thought suspiciously.
We walked back to the parking lot, where the vendors were located. On the way I pointed to another ride: The Slingshot. You'd sit in a giant, green ball and get shot into the air.
"Hey Raph, you wanna try that one?" I asked.
He looked at me with an are-you-serious? face. I laughed, "Don't worry, you don't have to.
