Chapter 51

Raphael loved seeing his mate so happy, it seemed like she couldn't stop smiling and laughing. He loved her laugh, it was so genuine. His heart skipped a beat every time she giggled or smiled.

She kept teasing him and pointing out crazy rides for him to do, he still had one ticket left. He pointed to a ring toss, "How about that one."

She scrunched her nose and lips together, she was adorable. "A ring toss?" She asked.

"Yeah, come on let's go."

She rolled her eyes and followed him. He was really getting sick of not being able to touch her. She was so soft, and squishy, he missed her body.

Brooke told her family that they would meet up at the vendor building as soon as they were done.

He walked over and gave his ticket to the ring toss carnie. He was a lanky, red haired man with a large nose and freckles.

Raph made his first toss and missed.

-You know, they're usually rigged.- Brooke said in his head.

-Yep.- He replied as he threw his next one. He looked up at the carnie after he missed a second time, only to realize that the carnie was staring at Brooke, he tightened his grip on his last ring and threw it at him.

He heard Brooke gasp, "Oh, Raph!" She had her hands over her mouth, her eyes darting back and forth between him and the now unconscious carnie.

"Why would you do that?!" She asked her eyes full of fear and concern.

"He was looking at you." He growled, his wolf was coming to the surface. He took a deep breath to try and calm himself and closed his eyes.

He heard her footsteps as she got closer to him, "Raph, open your eyes." She said firmly but gently.

He obeyed and saw her looking up at him standing just in front of him. She grabbed his arms and said again in a firm voice, "I really, don't understand why you needed to do that." She paused, a hint of a smile on her face. 'Why was she smiling?'

"You don't need to be jealous." She wrapped her arms around his waist, "I'll always be yours." She said into his chest.

He smiled and hugged her back. But she soon let go, "Now, go apologize and make sure he's, you know, alive."

As soon as they'd made sure that the red haired carnie was alive, and apologized profusely. They headed for the vendor building. There were stalls set up all around the outside of the building selling hats, coats, jewelry, and other assorted things.

They entered the building and both blinked adjusting their eyes. The large building looked like it was once gym, there was a stage in the distance and the varnished, wooden floor was painted with green, blue and white lines.

The walls were lined with tables filled with more assorted items. One was a save the trees another had a dress-up station. There was a book store and a knitted clothes stall. Brooke immediately made a beeline for a stall titled "Mountain Fudge"

She waved him over, he walked over leisurely. He was amazed at how quickly his mate had calmed his wolf down. And what she had said, "I'll always be yours." His heart warmed at the thought of it.

He bought Brooke five bricks of different flavours of fudge, she'd said that that amount was ridiculous, but he didn't care. He could tell that she was secretly happy that he'd bought that much.

They eventually caught up to her family and they all gawked at the amount of fudge she had. He laughed inside.

"Aww, can I have some?" Ulyssa had asked.

"No." Brooke had said like Ulyssa had just asked the most ridiculous question.

Raphael had laughed out loud at that. Brooke spun her head around to look at him with a dreamy smile on her lips.

~~~~~~~~
When he'd bought all of that fudge for me, my first thought was 'Yay!' Then I though if how troublesome my siblings would be, 'Oh well, they will live with it.'
We wandered till we found my family, they were talking to the Epicure vendor, she was an old friend of my mom's. My dad was checking out some spices to see if he liked them. And Brad, Ulyssa and Judith were over by the custom iPhone cases.
Me and Raph immediately let go of each other's hands and separated a foot or so, it hurt my heart to distance from him, and to lie to my family.
Ulyssa came over and asked for my fudge. And I said no. This was my fudge from Raph, I was not going to share.
Raph burst out laughing, my heart did somersaults. I looked at him, he looked so beautiful laughing.
We left the building and headed to the mini donuts food truck.
As we neared Raph asked, "Mini donuts? But you had dinner, and have fudge."
I looked at him with fake appallment, "But Raph, it wouldn't be the Fall Fair without mini donuts." I said over dramatically.
He smiled, shaking his head at my ridiculousness.
Yes, I was ridiculous but it really wasn't the Fall Fair without driving home with a bag of fresh mini donuts.
My dad, Brad and Judith separated and went to the shave ice stall.
I turned when Raphael gasped dramatically, "They don't like mini donuts."
I giggled, "Oh, trust me they do, it's just that my dad, and Brad can't have gluten, and Judith can't handle deep fried foods." I folded my lips in and shrugged my shoulders.
"Hmm." Raphael replied.
We got in line for the donuts, and waited. My feet were so sore by the time we got back to the parking lot. I just wanted to go home and sleep. I got in my parents van, I wanted to go with Raph but I had already spent enough time with him as is.
We drove home in silence with my mom playing her 80's rock.
When we got home my parents started muttering to each other.
"I know, I know."
"Well?"
They whispered. Finally my dad walked up to me, "Ulyssa, why don't you head upstairs and get ready for bed."
She stuffed another donut into her mouth, then sighed and walked inside.
"Brooke, we need to talk."
"Uh, okay." I said and heard someone walking up behind me, I turned and saw Raph.
"Alone." My dad said.
I bit the inside of my lip, "Okay." I said surprised by his sudden reaction to Raphael.
We walked inside with Raph trailing directly behind me.
