Father and Daughter: Missing

Evo's POV

"Why doesn't it seem like you and Zoey are dating again?" asked Zoey's mom.

I glanced at Zoey but said nothing. Zoey's parents looked at her. Zoey smiled slightly, and I already knew what she would say before she spoke. I breathe deeply. Little by little, I'm losing my appetite.

"I told you, I'm not what Evo wants. He doesn't want someone like me." Zoey glanced at me. "He just wants a simple girl. I'm too deserving, and it's not like me to wait and adjust just to be liked by him."

"That's not true, Zoey. It's just that it's just a sister," I said.

"You think there would be a dinner like this if we were treated as brothers? You're kidding, Evo."

"Stop it," said Mom. "You just got used to it like this. We better not rush the two children."

"I agree with my husband. We're not in a hurry, are we?" Dad asked Zoey's parents.

"I understand," Zoey's father said. "But I'll remind you that this is a long-term agreement between Audrey and me."
